There are screen about the outside of this area to protect from the wind and electric space heaters that help to take the chill off further. The prices are all in the typical area (a bit too much these days) for a bar/food place, but nothing shocking or out of the ordinary. The staff are always friendly and decently paced if not overly chatty and engaging, to be fair it has always been quite busy when we have been in. There is a good range of beers on tap, normal prices all round, again typical of a contemporary bar in this regard. The food though while again typically priced has been a pleasant surprise on eat visit. While the prices mean the the food would need to be of a decent standard each trip has managed to prove to be over and above expectation, so it is always a pleasure to know we're going here, for a pint or a plate.

If you know me, you will know that I could absolutely live on the stuff, and it's not often you see it on a menu, so it would be a shame not to seize the opportunity when it presents itself! We ordered an Americano at the end and were given a filter coffee - we asked whether it was an Americano and the waitress said it was an "Americano Filter"... enough said. We were charged full price for the whole meal without anything taken off for the hassle and all the waiting. To conclude, do not bother going here. I'd recommend one of the other restaurants in Hillsborough if you are trying to decide where to eat because there's no way that their service could be any worse than this place! For the price you are paying I expect high service and good food!!!

If you do make a conscious effort to stop, you will find the most quintessential Irish country pub / restaurant near Belfast, and it seems to give the impression it's doing this without even trying. It's classically decorated and peppered with pictures of Belfast in a bygone era, so you have plenty to catch your eye. If stopping for food you could be in for a treat as we were offered a table beside a beautiful open fire. (Continually stoked by the staff). This really set a great mood for a cozy and relaxed Sunday lunch, which, by the way, was delicious! Thanks to a bad signal for the card machine, I was asked to go downstairs to the bar and pay. This turned out to be very difficult, as I was so tempted to sit down have a drink, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon! The server was somehow managing all of the tables while still maintaining a sweet attitude. We had a couple well made cocktails to start and their mussels (special). As the first I've had in the area, I'm not sure if this is typical of the area, but they were fantastic. Floating in a creamy sauce that can be sopped up with brown bread. (And Irish butter, which is just so much better. If only there was a way to take home to the States!). We also had the goat cheese croquettes in truffle honey. Delicious and a bit sweet, this would also have been substituted for dessert. My friend and I shared the rack of lamb. The meat was fall off the bone, on mash, gravy, and pea purée, topped with crispy onions. Lovely meal, great introduction to Belfast!

The bar itself is split in to various floors and sections so you can experience different surroundings. It's nothing fancy but no over the top airs or graces. It does what it says on the tin, a club for working (wo)men to come relax, have a drink or a meal. The restaurant has only opened a short while ago (then closed, apparently over row with chef, now reopened under new management) and although it is now a little more pricey it still does the same job. You can come and enjoy your Friday lunch here and won't have to worry about breaking the bank. You won't come any where near. Bonus, did I mention how cheap the pints are? Your round! Cheers!

This place is a hidden gem and absolutely fabulous. The portions are huge, the food is fresh and delicious and served piping hot. I am a big fan of the Ulster Fry and this is the best in the world. The staff are lovely and the owners are always there, making sure everyone is looked after with plenty of time for a hello and and a chat The staff are so pleasant and the service was first class. The best part is they do not hassle you to leave the table once you finish, they let you enjoy finishing up your tea and coffee without feeling pressed to leave.
