My first night this vacation was in Inverness, and as soon as I saw photos of The White House I knew this was where I wanted to eat. The restaurant is chic with very cute vibes, and the food and drinks all sounded amazing. The strawberry coconut mojito was perfection, so much so that I finished it in seconds. The Orzo salad was surprisingly flavorful, and I savored every bite. But as full as I was after the cocktail and orzo salad, it felt like sacrilege to skip dessert on vacation - And really, who am I to resist tradition? Haha. We really liked the decor and the staff was friendly. The food was tasty though the portions small. For the amount you get a little pricey. We picked the White House as their on line menu listed giant prawns. In the US we call these popcorn shrimp-ver small and only a half dozen or so. At on line recommendations we made reservations and were made to pay a deposit. Rather silly as we were the only diners there when we arrived. read more

We strolled to the White House in Inverness and we made it right on time for HH which included an appetizer and an entree for about £15. Also, the drinks here were amazing ans had really cool designs. I got an old fashioned to start and then when with the drink that had a clock in which I can't remember the name I just remember it tasted really good. The restaurant was recommended by the front desk hotel we were staying at. The place was dimly lit and in the center of town. For the app and entree combo I got the baguette that comes with butter and I got the duck breastfeeding which was amazing! There's also a brunch that looked yummy but was not able to do. A lovely spot to have dinner in Inverness!! It's an interesting menu with a variety of options. We had the flatbread/pita starter with various dips. Honestly, it was extremely average both in flavor and presentation. The sea bass was FANTASTIC. The fish was fresh and the flavors were bright. The affogato was very good and the ginger/pear crumble was one of the best I've ever had. However, the apple pie cream was unappetizing both in flavor and appearance (unnaturally green ice cream with a fake flavor that didn't pair well with the delicious crumble). Our waitress, Chloe, was sweet, but very unaware of the menu and oblivious to the needs of our table. She definitely needs more training. Overall, I would give this place 3.5 stars, but give it 4 due to the excellence of some of the dishes we had. It could easily be 5 stars with a few tweaks. read more

I really enjoyed it, in the group we had the Beetroot risotto (excellent and very flavorful but a huge portion - felt terrible about leaving half but since we were in a hotel without a fridge, nothing we could do) the pan seared Hake ( tender cooked perfectly and wonderful presentation_ and i had the venison burger (huge surprise as it was so good, moist and flavorful). Maybe it is an off night, maybe because we are Americans and prefer our food cooked differently, but the food tonight was very dry. We had the lemon haddock, the chicken and sausage pasta and a burger. The mushroom bruschetta, as a starter, was absolutely delicious as were the gin and tonics . We were shopping at the Victorian market and got hungry.. we wandered into this beautiful restaurant and .... what a great find! I had the winter vegetable soup which was delicious and hearty served with crusty bread and butter! My sweetheart had the maple glazed pork chops, seriously the best pork chops I've ever tasted. Tender and juicy . Our server frasier was superb. Attentive and knowledgeable. He brought us little extras like a taste sample of a local cheese we had wondered about and a couple extra gooseberries because they were delicious and we had no idea what they were! Popped in here for a wee liquid refreshment, and enjoyed it so much headed back the next day for some food. This is a lovely little gem in Inverness. There is a fantastic cocktail menu on offer, with something for everyone. I opted for the Berry and Passion fruit Martini. It was so refreshing and fruity. Extremely easy to drink (dangerously so!!) I went on to have a Cherry Espresso Martini. This would be perfect for after a meal in stead of desert or coffee. It wasn't over powering with cherry, however I could only have one as it was pretty sweet. £6.50 per cocktail. It's a reasonable sized bar, with a nice little area you can book out for a small gathering. It has two comfortable cream leather couches, and small seating around a large low table. I loved the fairy light trees, and the music was cool and easy listening. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable on their large cocktail list, helping you choose just the right one for your taste. There was a variety of people, from families, ladies who lunch and girls in for some pre drinks before heading out. One of the girls across from us was having "The Bathtub". It was a cocktail served in a large bathtub, looked amazing, however I wouldn't fancy holding the tub all night!! We ordered a wee nibble before hitting the shops. I had the Cullen Skink soup to start followed by Chilli and Garlic Prawn Salad. The soup was served in a cute tin pot, with lovely fresh bread. It was the perfect portion size, pipping hot and really creamy. The prawn salad was nicely presented, with just the right spice, fresh crisp yellow peppers and a lemon and coriander dressing which complemented the dish. In a small place like Inverness, it is a lovely little spot with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Will defo be back. read more

It was really difficult to find a restaurant eith an open table in zjuly. This is a popular place so book it in advance. We celebrated my birthday here while visiting Inverness. I was really surprised to find such a beautiful place in Inverness. The decor is modern and elegant. The food is delicious and the service is exceptional. I had a steak pie with ale gravy, with a side of vegetables and new potatoes. This was absolutely amazing. The five bean salad with couscous was delicious as were the burgers that the boys ate. Everything is fresh and prepared well and comes out of the kitchen piping hot! The staff is super friendly and helpful. As one of the waiters came to clear our table he asked us where we were from and what our plans were for sightseeing. I really like this place. There's never much choice in a small city like Inverness so when somewhere relatively new opens up its exciting. I had only ever been in for lunch, which was lovely and affordable (try the burgers!) but it's at night when the White House shines. The decor is gorgeous with beautiful lights everywhere, great music and a friendly enthusiastic bar team. The cocktails were fantastic, we tried a lot! We were greeted by a wonderfully polite hostess. Seated right way in a window seat. Both my son and I had the fish and chips for lunch. Really fresh fish and best fench fries I've had in years. The fries were huge and really crispy possibly double fried but worth it on the hips. The tartar sauce is homemade and mussy pea's (that a first for me) were actually surprising good. I will have to try making mussy peas at home. The portion sizes are huge so you won't leave hungry and the prices were very reasonable. Fabulous place! The menu has a good variety, the food is delicious and the service is very warm and friendly. They have created a very nice ambiance with candles and fairy lights making it a wonderful place to enjoy an evening meal with a cocktail or two.
