So I finally made it to the famous "The Whistle Stop Cafe" but unfortunately due to my travel plans I arrived at ten minutes after 4 PM and they close at 4 PM and i found it to be locked up tight although I could hear the pots and pans clanging as the kitchen staff was cleaning up. I was able to walk around the property and snapped a few pictures but it was still a little disappointing being I may never be this close to this historic site again. The production designer for the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" selected this location which has no connection to the fictional book, this building chosen to be the Whistle Stop Café was formerly an antique and hardware store. It was redesigned as a cafe, with a horseshoe-shaped counter to allow for optimal camera angles, with the success of the movie it has become somewhat of a roadside attraction. Set as the iconic café in the movie, the Whistle Stop Café got its humble start in the little town of Juliette, Georgia. When filming was done, the restaurant remained open and still serves classic southern dishes and of course, Fried Green Tomatoes, everyday! They are open Thursday - Monday, 11a-4p. Closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays and do not accept reservations so plan your visit well...

$$ The Whistle Stop Café in Juliet, Georgia was a great place to visit! Especially if you've watched the movie "fried green tomatoes" The serving staff was very kind even though I had to wait 30 minutes for a seat at the counter. They moved customers in and out quite regularly because it's a very popular place to visit. The old town atmosphere was very nostalgic both inside and outside the café... with a few buildings still available to pass by on the very small main street. The fried green tomatoes were actually very delicious, and I also ordered a burger with potato chips as well... All cooked well done! They do not actually cook their meat any other way, even though you ask for medium rare. A note to self... Leftover fried green tomatoes in the air fryer are fabulous! So if you ever find yourself and Juliet, Georgia... About an hour south of Atlanta on Highway 75... Make sure you stop in and get yourself some fried green tomatoes! Safe journeys, and go make great memories!

When we arrived 30 minutes before opening, we were 4th on the list. We were seated when they opened and there was a line out the door we assume until they closed. Some people who were there when they opened were not sat immediately because there was such a big crowd. The waitresses were super nice. The food came a little slow. Multiple tables were sat and leaving before we even got our food. However, the food was delicious. The chicken tenders were huge and tasty, the fried green tomatoes were all they were hyped up to be, and the loaded chopped steak was also very good. We would stop here again if we were near.

The restaurant is very cute and authentic, with an impressive selection of food. Most visitors have the fried green tomatoes, like the 3 Georgia Power workers who sat at the counter across from me. Good food, prompt service and a pleasant environment. You won't be disappointed.

I really loved the sweet little town. It was so cute how we could just walk around and feel the quaintness of things. As far as the actual restaurant, there was really only one employee who had a great attitude. Everyone else just seemed so stressed that they couldn't really be friendly. I'm from the south so I was surprised by that... the restaurant decor and vibe was so adorable and on point to really remind us of the movie and memories. The menu was good. I had the bbq, green beans and butter beans... it was ok. The meat was the best part of my meal. The bread we got was super dry... the green beans were not flavorful and the butter beans were ok. Mom had country fried steak. It was very good. The gravy was tasty. The collards were good but not flavorful. Okra was decent. Fried green tomatoes looked like they weren't good but ended up tasting great. We also had the buttermilk pie which was decent as well. I was surprised with the level of service, I expected it to be better. And the food quality I also had an expectation for it to be better than it ended up being. It was still fun and I'm glad we went. I'm not sure I would recommend it to others though.

Everyone should make a stop here and check out all the shops on the street. Wait was about 20minutes, as it's a smaller place. Heard that the wait can be as high as 2 hours - but if that's the case, just go shopping in the meantime! It's not hot inside and I love the atmosphere. The staff are so sweet and attentive. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely delicious (and I'm not even a fan of tomatoes). I also ordered the Powerman's Burger and it was easily one of the best burgers I have EVER had. Worth every penny. Definitely recommend!!!

Incredible experience and delicious food. What a unique window into rural south and the effects of cinema on our lives. Rent the DVD and watch how the movie was made. Nonetheless, thanks to the film, this is a splendid tiny town. Thanks to those who own and work in the cafe now, it is a special place with friendly people and authentic meal choices.

If you're near this area or padding through the Macon GA area, stop by! We noticed the billboard for it and turned around. It's about a 10 to 15 min drive from the interstate but there is a restaurant and a few shops to check out. If you like things from movie sets and quaint towns you'll love it. If you want to do lunch, get there early and add your name to the notepad by the door to get on the list for a table.

Just as I expected. Excellent food in a quaint little diner. We of course started with a basket of fried green tomatoes that neither of us had ever tried. They were delicious and the dip had a nice kick to it. We both ordered Bennett's BBQ sandwich and it comes without Bennett's BBQ sauce so you can add as much as you want as needed. I tasted the BBQ and it was already spicy but I added the sauce to it anyway and it's delicious both ways. I got onion rings and my wife got fries. Both were really good. I highly recommend this little out of the way diner especially if you're a fan of the movie.

Amazing. Had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. The waitress was awesome. Our orders were taken immediately and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The best thing I had were the onion rings. The chopped steak and pulled pork are highly recommended. The atmosphere is just like the movie with a lot of pictures from the actors on the wall. Great prices and a nice gift shop across the street. I highly recommend stopping by here!

Good atmosphere and great food. Must stop if you're going by Macon or Forsyth. Makes you feel like you're in the movie and some good ole southern sweet tea!

You can see the menu board in this picture on the back wall.

We stopped at The Whistle Stop Cafe for lunch while passing through Georgia. I've always wanted to eat there. I loved the movie Fried Green Tomatoes so it was neat eating at the place a lot of it was filmed at. It's a nice area. The cafe is a sweet looking spot. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer. They were delicious. For lunch I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and squash casserole. I loved it all except it could have been warmer. The squash casserole was my favorite. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and chips. He liked it a lot. We both had half & half sweet tea which was delicious. The staff was very nice, the atmosphere was charming and I'm so glad we stopped.

I love the mustardy taste in potato salad. It was not seasoned and so bland as was the dressing and turkey wings. The fried green tomatoes were chewy. And I tasted those time I got in the car as I always do. Huge difference!!! I was really shocked. There has got to be a new cook or at least for 1/8/26. This was not the typical seasoning or taste I was used to. I ate my turkey wings so my stomach wouldn't be touching my back and trashed the rest. Maybe I'll have better luck when I return. Hamburger is an unseasoned little less than 1/4 pound patty that is flat top cooked. Bun was standard and they ask what toppings you want and add them for you. Onion rings are a commercial frozen food service product and are standard in flavor and unseasoned as well. Veggies were fresh and they didn't cheap her on the mayo. Country Fried steak as fried and crispy and commercial food service product as well. The brown gravy was nice and peppery which I enjoyed and seasoned properly. The fries were crispy but unseasoned, and since I don't like ketchup I was out of luck and ended up dipping them in my gravy. Texas toast was toasted nicely but the butter they used is unsalted so it was bland. The Cole slaw......was brought to the table at room temp and the room was like 74 degrees...that was a first for me. Most people want their Cole slaw chilled, even at picnics outside in the South in the dead of summer, I've eaten colder slaw. It's heavy on the Mayo which is the saving grace! I added pepper and salt and a splash of bottled lemon juice they brought with the iced tea and jazzed it up. Yeah...I said jazzed like some middle aged mom! Price point was completely reasonable and their bathroom was tidy. They did a steady walk-up and order at the window service while we were there. More people came and went from the window than the dining room. I'd probably come back and try their other items just to see, if I'm in the area and was out of new options to try. Nothing was a deal breaker in terms of repeating the experience...but nothing was all that great either.
