    Brown Sugar Fresh Milk Tea
    Katie B.

Ordered the basic brown sugar milk tea to try this bubble tea location. I ordered less ice, and next time I would order cold with no ice because the ice is overwhelming. 50% sugar was the perfect choice for this drink! It was delicious, filling, and perfect. It's quiet and seems to be a hotspot for students hanging out and studying. We received our drinks quickly as well. My husband ordered a strawberry slush because he doesn't like boba; he wasn't aware his drink would have boba included. At first, he was shocked when he discovered the boba, but he was pleasantly surprised when the boba popped. He said he actually enjoyed the flavor unlike previous boba attempts. We will definitely return if in the area.

We tried the Matcha Tea from this place. The tea was good and the place is very well kept.

My daughter loved the decor since it's whale themed and she loves whales. Nice cute place. Staff is friendly and good selection of boba teas. I got the Oreo boba and it was tasty. The boba was fresh and there was a good amount. Prices were reasonable.

The shop is clean, cozy, and has a super chill vibe. What really stood out was the amazing service. The woman at the counter was so friendly and helpful. She recommended the Blue Crystal and it did not disappoint! Whether you're a boba lover or just looking for something refreshing, this spot is a must-visit. Can't wait to try more drinks!

This shop is easy to miss, since there are many eateries on this street. You order on one of two machines. You will need a card to pay, or order ahead. The drinks have a lot of customization. The workers are quietly polite despite being busy. There was a steady stream of people over the course of an hour and a half. There are bar seats, as well as, tables that seat three. Small table for studying but I made it work. Be sure to park on a side street and walk over.

I went to Whale Tea after getting hot pot from Tiger Daddy. I was definitely looking for a sweet end to my meal and this was it. I love that they have tons of options for milk. I'm lactose intolerant and sometimes it's very difficult to go to a place knowing you have limited options. Every single one of their drinks had the option of multiple different dairy, free milks. I usually default to their taro because it's amazing and I love it, but I wanted to try something different. I ordered the rose milk tea with oat milk. I loved it. If you like floral, then you'll like it. It wasn't overwhelming and it had sweet candied. Little petals at the bottom with their incredible Boba. The space was adorable, and I love the whales on the wall and the plushy's in the front. The people were kind and the service was very quick. I've gone to Whale Tea multiple times and I will for sure be back again!

Pretty tea shop! The regular brown sugar bubble tea is good, others just looked pretty the blue drinks are coconut based and the slushy were a bit too sweet for me.

My favorite boba place -- especially when I'm craving brown sugar or Oreo (which I always am)! I came pretty close to closing time so they ran out of brown sugar boba, unfortunately, but I'm always content with the Oreo. My order is an Oreo milk tea, 30% sugar, and jelly boba. It's always delicious, but this time it seemed a bit sweeter than usual. Other than that inconsistency, no complaints!

There is general parking at the end of the street if no one street is available. Nice area, lots of good spots to eat before you stop and grab a boba for the way home :)

I finally made it to Whale Tea and I have to tell you- I had the most delicious beverages. I ordered the Strawberry Slushie with lychee and strawberry popping boba. OMG- this is the summer refresher right here. You have got to try this! It was perfect on the hot day we had yesterday. I also tried the Brown Sugar Boba with Coconut Milk instead of dairy milk. I love boba. It's just so fun to drink and eat and chew the boba all at the same time. I love that it's on a street with lots of food options as well. I had lunch next door at Tiger Daddy, so be sure to plan a visit to both if you are in New Haven. A very nice combo there. The space at Whale Tea was pretty spread out with lots of tables to sit down and get some work done if need be. Parking on the street, metered. Pay the meter :) Cheers and enjoy! Whale Tea is now on my favorite list.

Loved this new find, I recently moved to Connecticut and was on the hunt for good bubble tea spots. Whale tea was so good, I loved the variety of flavors and options. They had milk teas and fresh fruit teas as well as coffee and slushies. I tried the rose milk tea and it was fantastic not watery at all and great taste! My husband had the orea creme brulee milk tea and this was great as well very rich and creamy! I can't wait to be back and try more. Their shop is very nice and cute inside too great place to study or just meet a friend !

Cute boba tea place! Cute decor. Giant whale art and friendly service. It's Yale town around here. Was craving a grapefruit drink and The Whale Tea delivered! It was refreshing and delicious. Not overly sweet and amazing fresh grapefruit flavor. Their signature Milktea is good as well. My son loved it. Says it had a rich tea flavor. The only disappointment was the "Fresh Grape Milk"... I don't know what I was imagining but definitely not like the MOGE black grape tea... lol this drink is exactly what it will taste like: "MILK". I would skip if your not a big milk fan. Would do their fresh fruit selection! #yelplife #bobatealife #traveladventures

Really good boba and cute store! I'll definitely be coming back, and I already look forward in trying more teas next time. I got a passion fruit tea and added jelly and another kind of jelly/boba called "tao jiao" that I could've lived without, but I just had to try. I really like how you can decide what sweetness level you want, it's perfect to avoid an overly sugary tea. The shop was also very clean, and the best part was watching the staff make the drinks. There was even one employee wiping down the edges of the cups, and I thought that was awesome. Only downside is that they are a little expensive.

I always love the Crème Bruleè Brown Sugar Milk Tea. It's a staple I can drink all year.

Ask the Community - The Whale Tea

    Any parking near by?

    Yes!

If I bring a clean, reusable cup, can you make my drink in that instead of a plastic cup?

Do you have non dairy milks for the milk tea?

What is the blue in the whale crystal drink?

It is coconut milk and it has blue jello in it (meaning gelatin so not vegetarian).

Is this restaurant like hot pot? I only ask because I didn't like hot pot at all my chicken pad thai from hot pot looked like spaghetti with egg. I'm not joking.

no! this is milk tea and bubble tea and other drinks. this is not even a restaurant. it's a shop.

Hi! Do you have option to get milk tea dairy free? (Coconut milk instead of dairy milk?) Thanks!

Yes, we do have coconut milk and almond milk for substitutes

I got my drink, and while waiting for a second drink another older man came in and ordered at the cashier. He ended up taking our second drink, which we didn't know until his drink was ready. The guy working really quickly apologized, gave us that man's drink, and remade the proper drink for us very quickly. The jasmine milk tea I ordered was great, slightly tart (got less sweet) and the boba was a bit more firm than I'd like but not too bad! The strawberry lemon drink was a bit more lemon than strawberry but tasted great. And our extra strawberry smoothie was delicious! The cafe was cute and quiet at the time, great place to spend some time!

The chocolate nut party was a party in my mouth- gelato was good, mouse truffles were great, nuts were sufficient and the Crêpe itself very fresh. The syrup on the gelato was avoidable. Pocky sticks are fun too. Definitely going to be back here to try the savory versions, and I wish they open a store near Hartford.
