Tried Ice and Fire Ice Cream and really enjoyed it overall. We sampled the cookies and cream first and it was so good we ordered that flavor. There was a short wait, but they make everything fresh right in front of you, which is fun to watch. They chop the cookies into the liquid base, spread it out to freeze, then roll it into strips. Ours came topped with Fruit Loops (odd but surprisingly tasty), two Oreos, a Pocky, and a torched marshmallow they flame right there. The only downside was that the shop was a little hard to find, and $10 feels a bit pricey. Still, you can tell they put a lot of work into each order. Expect a bit of a wait though since it's made-to-order and a fairly labor-intensive process! You get to watch them craft your creation on a frozen pan, but it can take longer than 5 minutes to prepare, and even longer during peak times. The texture is denser than traditional ice cream and the colder serving temperature makes rolled ice cream less prone to melting quickly, allowing you to bask in its deliciousness for a longer period of time without it turning into a soupy mess. Personally I feel they go a little overboard with the toppings, so for a slightly less sweet experience, you should definitely customize your order a bit. It's a good option when you want a twist from the ordinary. Although Ice and Fire is Asian-inspired, the offerings are definitely Americanized to appeal to a broader audience. Every time I visit the mall, they usually always have a line and are quickly filling orders for rolled ice cream. They craft with care and efficiency. Fun toppings and mixins. They even had a Mother's Day special. Our ice cream choices the To-Taro and the Chunky Monkey were both delicious and flavorful. Some have said that it is pricey but I think for the handcrafted nature of the product and topping selections, $7 seems pretty reasonable. Love it! Out of all the rolled ice cream places I have been to, this is the best one. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They have 4 of those cold plates for when they are busy, especially being in a mall. Ever since a trip to visit my son in TN back in April I have been obsessed with Ice Cream Rolls so of course I had to see if I could find them in CT when visiting in July. I have to admit I was disappointed to discover the place was located in a mall, even more so when both the outside and inside of the mall made me feel like I should have brought some mace with me - very unfriendly patrons in that place and the staff here wasn't much better. The menu choices here pale in comparison to the last place I went and the prices were far more and you got less in the way of "topping" choices. We ended up going with the Strawberries and cream which was okay but nothing to get excited about and unfortunately after being rushed by the employee to place my order I totally forgot to use the 10% off offer in the Yelp app and I certainly wasn't going to attempt to see if they could correct it.
