I ordered the Blue Biscoff ice cream in a waffle bowl with vanilla wafer crumbles and roasted marshmallow on top. The presentation was super cute, and the place was clean and empty when we arrived, which was nice. The flavor was solid, and the waffle bowl added a nice touch. But when I asked what gave the ice cream its bright blue color, the person behind the counter had no idea. So, I don't know why this place seems to have a slightly bad rap. The major complaint appears to be customer service. I personally did not have any issues with the customer service. We visited Milkcraft a couple of weeks ago and the ice cream was delicious. Our kids tried the s'mores ice cream and vanilla with sprinkles. The ice cream is the perfect creaminess and everyone loved it. So why only 4 stars?? The staff was a bunch of young kids who didn't seem like they wanted to be there. They took forever to take our order and by the time they did - the line had grown pretty long behind us. They also told us they didn't have a bathroom we could use. Really?!! Parking isn't easy in that area either. You have to either find street parking or park a little ways away in a garage. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't one or the coldest & windiest days this winter. While we were across the street at Sol De Cuba having lunch, we spied this place. As great as the desserts are at Sol, we made the decision to make our way over and give them a try. It was raining hard outside and inside, the ground was SUPER slippery. So good! Much better than the West Hartford location (always out of stock, unfriendly) Came on a Saturday, there was a handwritten sign on the door saying they would be opening at 2pm. Came back at 1:50pm and they were already packed. Lots of customers, only 2 people working. Didn't sacrifice quality at all. They took their time to deliver every order as intended. I got my usual- PB&J Roasted banana and it came with all the fixings! (I've gotten it 5 times at the other location and it only had banana the first time.) They even caramelized the banana- absolute perfect. Always have to get the cookie butter for my son- he loves it. Love this location, wish it was closer! We live 25 min away from the West Hartford one, but my friends all agree that it's worth the extra 25 min drive to come to New Haven! read more

I feel like you go here for the "Gram" and not really for the ice-cream itself. It's a cool looking shop with liquid nitro tanks set up and nice decor touches added throughout. We ordered the churro ice-cream in the egg waffle cone and the Vietnamese coffee in a cup. The churro ice-cream is super HEAVY in cinnamon, like that's all you taste. It was also overly sweet. The egg waffle smelled really good but was just too soft and soggy. FYI: egg waffle is supposed to be soft inside but crispy outside. I understand the bottom part will get soggy from the ice-cream melting but even the top part that's sticking up outside was not crisp to begin with. The Vietnamese coffee was good. This place has gotten a lot of traffic. The details inside are fun. Pretty disappointed in the bubble cone. We got churro flavor, which could have had more cinnamon. But the texture was so chewy and weird. In Hong Kong, I had a few of these bubble waffles, and they were airier and crispier while still malleable. The salted caramel ice cream was decadent. We couldn't even finish one between two of us. The folks working here are having a good time, it appears, so that's something. Happened to walk by Milkcraft as we were exploring New Haven, and my fiancee was very enticed by their nitrogen tanks blowing in full force, so we had to make a stop as a post-dinner treat. The space inside is pretty cool, with lots of wall art work and the "show" by the ice cream - definitely geared towards the social media influencers. Luckily it was very rainy when we stopped in, so there was essentially no line, which was nice - I can imagine it gets pretty crowded in peak times. Their menu is pretty expansive, offering many, many types of the off-the-wall ice cream flavors that I personally love. The hardest decision is just knowing which to get! I was torn between milk and cereal and blue cookie butter; the employee convinced me to get the cookie butter when I said I was interested in getting frosted flakes as my cereal should I get the cereal milk ice cream. I went with her rec, but unfortunately she didn't give me the heads up that they were out of cookie crumbles for the topping :( Had I known, I totes would have gone for the other. Oh well, no big. My fiancee was eyeing up s'mores all night, so he was set on that. After deciding your flavor, you then have to decide what vehicle to get it in - bowl, cone, bubble cone, glazed bun - so many options. The bubble cone was definitely the most unique, so we both went for that. They loaded our ice cream into the relatively large cones and then topped with respective goodies (my fiancee got toasted mallow on his, I opted for caramel sauce in the absence of the cookies). The cones themselves were very nice - tasted like a cross between a waffle cone and a funnel cake. Would be excellent on its own! My ice cream was good, but not the best ice cream I've ever had. I appreciated the speculoos flavor, but would have enjoyed cookie pieces or some texture to the cream. My fiancee enjoyed his s'mores, especially the mallow on top. The total ensemble was qiute large, so I kind of wish I was more aware of that (especially after eating a full dinner); I probably would have opted for the bowl and just shared my fiancee's cone. Oh well, we lived it up on vacation. While the ice cream was good, the biggest shock was the price - $9 for each our cones! The quantity was a lot, but not $9 worth - certainly paying for the experience rather than the food. Overall, our Milkcraft experience was good - good ice cream (not the absolute best) and unique vehicles (but be aware that they are incredible filling) but at quite a steep cost. I would definitely check this place out if you are a social media influencer or if you have a budding middle / high school student. Not necessarily the vibe I needed as a young professional. We have been to several locations and the New Haven is by far the worse. The staff working on 1/14/24 were extremely rude. We ordered our ice cream and after paying we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait. No problem! We then asked to use the restroom, the woman behind the counter responded "ummmmm, no." So we respected that and asked if it would be okay if we popped out to the local restaurant next door to use the restroom and she said "not really, you need to be back in a timely manor or we will give your ice cream away." My husband stayed at Milk craft so I could run across the street to use the restroom. Once I arrived back our ice cream was ready and 3 people proceeded to use their bathroom. Another patron asked if he could use the bathroom to a 2nd employee and she also responded no. That customer also said he saw several people use the bathroom and she informed us "they weren't supposed to." There is no consistency in the way this place is run. The staff was rude to the kind customers and didn't stop anyone from using the bathrooms whatsoever unless you were kind enough to ask to use them. We love coming here for a sweet treat but the staff's attitude made us not want to come back.
