I was exploring Downtown New Haven when I stumbled upon this Ben and Jerry's location. I decided to wander inside and they did not disappoint! I was instantly greeted by the warm employees and blown away by the wide selection of flavors available at this location. They had all of my favorites so it made picking just one scoop extremely hard. I ended up going with the classic, half baked scoop and was pleased by how large their small scoop was. The ice cream here is a bit on the pricier side so it's nice that they are generous with the servings. As far of the ice cream itself, loved it! It was creamy, had no ice particles in it, and there was a good balance of cookie dough and fudge brownie pieces. The store itself is rather large and I noticed that they have a decent amount of seating, making this a great location to catch up with friends over some ice cream! I'll definitely be back to try more flavors and their speciality items.

Every time my husband and I come to New Haven for dinner, I swear, wherever we are we smell that sultry waft of waffle cones in the distance. So after having dinner at Geronimo last night, and realizing that Ben & Jerry's was a sweet four minute walk from that restaurant, we just had to go. The place was clean and bright and there wasn't a single person in line. The workers wear the trademark Vermont tie-dye of the company. We each opted for a small cone dipped in chocolate and I had the cereal flakes ice cream just one small scoop, it tasted like frosted flakes cereal swirled in with the vanilla sweet cream. I'd had never seen that flavor before in stores. Was so good! I think my husband got half baked, which is supposed to be partially vanilla and partially chocolate but it seemed like his cone was mainly chocolate ice cream. Now that we know the central location of this joint, we will most likely go for dessert again next time we are in New Haven for dinner.

I came to this location for the first time yesterday just in time for free cone day expecting long waits and lines. There were certainly a lot of people there but lines were efficient and we were in and out in less than 5 minutes. For a free cone day, the portion size was perfect. They offered the perfect menu of classics including The Tonight Dough, which we ordered. Service was pleasant and efficient. Will definitely be back!

There is a ton of good ice cream in New Haven to choose from. Ben and Jerry's leads the pack as far as vegan non-dairy offerings go, and they have some of the most adventurous flavors. Ben and Jerry's has great ice cream loaded with decadent fillings like cookie dough, brownie batter, cinnamon buns, etc. They have vegan non-dairy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream which is my favorite flavor and a must-try. The staff at this location are very friendly and accommodating. The best deal is a hand-packed pint, which gives you a lot more than a large cup of ice cream for nearly the same price. They also have pre-packed pints in the freezer with some other good vegan non-dairy flavors. This is the perfect place to stop by for dessert, or just for a sweet treat that is vegan-friendly!

I was down the street and saw a friend of mine with ice cream which made me have the sudden urge to get one. Now I could have gone to Arethusa seeing as I was a few feet away but I wanted to try B & J for the first time. I went in there and Will was so nice & helpful. His co worker recommended the chocolate chip & milk flavor which was really good. I'm not too big on diary so I got a small cup. For as late as it was, the shop was very clean. I was impressed

YES! I have a severe nut allergy and a lady here with blonde hair who served me was THE BEST! Really understanding! She opened a new box of ice cream, checked all the ingredients and was just really lovely! Really refreshing compared to other times when I tell restaurants about my allergy and receive a "so what?" look! YAS lady you made my day! Thank you!

I luv ice cream, for starters! I had a small 1/2 butter pecan, 1/2 strawberry cheesecake ice cream cup the other night, it was amazeballs! I will be back, if Im and when I am in the NH area again. The clerk was nice and patient with me and my friends!

Ben and Jerry's fills a crucial void in the New Haven frozen dairy desserts scene! While I will always remain loyal to Arethusa for pure ice cream cones, Ben and Jerry's milkshakes will always have a special place in my heart, and Ben and Jerry's is the only place in New Haven to indulge in a real milkshake. I came to the store two times, once on a Tuesday night and the next day on a Wednesday afternoon. Both times, we ordered ahead of time via Snackpass, and the milkshakes were waiting for us in the freezer. The employees working at the counter were very friendly. The first time we tried this Ben and Jerry's, my boyfriend and I ordered a Half-Baked milkshake. The milkshake consisted of rich chocolate undertones that pretty much replicated the fudge brownie and chocolate chip dough mixture in the actual ice cream. The second time I came, I ordered the Stephen Colbert Americone Dream milkshake with whipped cream, and thought it was also a well-executed milkshake. The waffle cone bits were not blended as well, leading to little bits clogging the straw. Yet, it was nice to have a diversity of textures and something to crunch on. Furthermore, this was a well-balanced milkshake, not too cloying, and each individual ingredient shined - the chocolate, caramel, waffle cone, and vanilla base. The consistency was wonderfully decadent. Personally, I enjoyed the Americone Dream milkshake more, as the vanilla base is a better blank slate, letting each individual ingredient shine, as opposed to a chocolate base which kind of masks the other flavors.

It's been long overdue that New Haven finally get a Ben and Jerry location. This location is very clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. Ice cream is great!

    Gina W.

Solid ice cream experience. Large selection of flavor-studded options, including plenty of dietary-restriction friendly choices. It's always super clean in there, no sticky tables, not event a rogue napkin. Almost.. too clean. Freezer full of to-go pints for your at-home ice cream needs. Staff is always friendly. I think besides all the cows in the murals staring at you uncomfortably while you consume their..product.. there's not one negative thing to say about this place.

No strangers to the culinary world, the Flagges have been involved in the catering business since 1980. When they founded their pizza truck business in 2007, the Flagges joined just a handful of other pizza trucks in Connecticut. They chose the name "Old World" to reflect a way of life and cooking: a celebration where food is more than just nourishment. Today the Flagges have a fleet of multiple pizza trucks and a staff of 25+ employees. The trucks travel around Connecticut to craft delicious wood-fired pizza pies at wineries, breweries, festivals, and private functions. When the trucks aren't running, they are parked behind One 6 Three: a brick & mortar wood-fired pizzeria that was founded by the Flagge's daughter Alexa and her boyfriend Andrew Holmes. Many of the menu items between Old World and One 6 Three are the same. My family and I recently sampled some pizzas from Old World while we were attending a friend's birthday party. Old World was hired to cater the party. I had previously sampled pizza from their sister business: One 6 Three. While some of the pizza varieties were the same, others were exclusive to the pizza truck menu. Throughout the party, some of the pizzas prepared included Pepperoni, Margherita, Fresh Sliced Tomato, Mashed Potato & Bacon, White Clam, Eggplant, Sausage, Asparagus, Spinach, Mushroom, Broccoli Rabe, Shrimp, Caramelized Onions, Roasted Red Peppers, Pan-Seared Zucchini, Filet Mignon, and Peanut Butter & Jelly. They were all delicious!! Afterwards, the friendly staff served French-style ice cream, espresso, cappuccino, and affogatos for dessert. I was really impressed with the pizza from Old World and I hope to run into one of their trucks again!

Their Sanctuary Kitchen project bolsters another objective -- encouraging fairness and participation in the entrepreneurial aspects of food business. I believe these people are encouraged to help expose people to world cuisines that are meaningful to them. You can order food for pickup at designated times. You can also buy the food at the Farmers Markets. I recently visited the Sunday City Seed Market at Edgewood Park near the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. There were a variety of foods. I grabbed a tasty hunmus and a box of the donut style falafel. Both good. But I was really intrigued by the Iraqi food offerings because I haven't knowingly had Iraqi food. I bought Iraqi Carrot and Dill rice, Iraqi Lentil Soup and Iraqi Vegetable Curry Soup. Since I'm not experienced in Iraqi cuisine, I can't speak to authenticity or make a comparative quality analysis. The food seemed nutrient rich. I'm not sure if this a cultural thing or the preference of the individual cook, I think the food needed a bit more salt across the board. Also, in terms of texture, the rice was good, but the soups seemed a bit overcooked and had a softer texture than I would expect. I was happy to have a chance to try these foods and I applaud the mission of City Seed. 4.25 Stars
