So I saw this place while shopping next store at the mothership ((Michael's) and knowing my husband likes a good burger I put it on the list to try. We got the smaller pitchers of beer and the appetizer platter to start. It was surprisingly delicious. Hubby got one of the burgers, a double, with onion rings. I got the club with regular fries. The burger was pretty good and they bring you a tray of accoutrements to really finish it out. Onion rings were good with a nice batter. The club was not what I was expecting/ hoping for. It was a single sandwich not by definition a club. However it was very tasty. Served on a nice sourdough. Fries were good but just fries. There are pool tables and old fashioned candy machines and a few video games. While you can bring kids here, it is still a BAR and grill. Is there beer at ChuckyECheese? read more

Such nostalgia! My family always used to go to Boll Weevil as a kid, but our go-to location (Shelter Island) closed long long ago. The ambience here isn't quite the same (Pt Loma was dark and cozy, and such a vibe!) but the food is just like I remember it. This was my first time at this location as all the others I've been to recently are also closed. I hope they stay around a while, I almost missed them due to the slightly different name. They have great specials here, can't go wrong with a steer burger and a coke but there's happy hour beer so I opted for that this time. 1/4 pound if you have an average appetite, I was starving so I got a 1/2 pounder and that really hit the spot. Juicy burger on a sturdy bun that won't fall apart, add as many toppings as you like since they bring you a tray full (so glad covid is on the way out). This really brought me back to my childhood, glad I found it out here down the street from my tax guy. I'll have to make the trek out here from downtown more than once a year from now on! read more

Wife and I decided to stop in for lunch as we were in the area. First off, love the fact that you seat yourself. The server immediately brought us a menu and took our drink order. We had our drinks and our order placed in less than 5 minutes upon arriving which was surprising because she was the only server and had about seven tables she was taking care of. Wife ordered Patty Melt Combo with onion rings and I opted for the 1/2 LB Steer Burger with fries. Our burgers were cooked perfect, the fries were hot and delicious and lots of them. I have been watching this place progress since I first saw the sign go up saying "Coming Soon", every time I went to the Michael's. It finally opened on July 2nd I think and we tried to go there the 4th of July but they were closed for the holiday. I was out running errands yesterday afternoon and decided to pop in for a look around. When I saw they had a special Mon-Thurs of a hamburger and fries for $4.99 I just decided to go ahead and order so I could try it. I was very impressed. They are using the same basic menu and format of the Boll Weevil with large tray full of condiments, pool tables etc. The hamburger was very good, the condiments were fine except the top onion slice looked kind of beige and the slice below it had a couple of tiny brown spots. I plucked those off and what I ate was very good. The bun had been browned on the grill, which gave it a little crunch, though it could have stayed on a little longer to keep it crunchy after soaking up the meat and pickle juices. The fries were not homemade but perfectly respectable. The place was moderately busy when I arrived, to my surprise since it is so new, but during the half hour or so I was there, throngs of people came in so it was very loud and full of exuberant customers by the time I left--families, the Lake Murray All Stars baseball team, tons of kids playing pool, very vibrant! I asked my waitress if this was unusual but she said it's been like that since they opened. Wow--good for them to be so successful as soon as they opened! As an older woman, I sometimes get ignored and others are helped first. It happened tonight as I sat waiting to get a menu. I watched as the waitress completely ignored me while clearing tables, waiting for orders to come up (you couldn't come get my order while the orders are not on the counter yet?) while seeing a couple being waited on that had just walked in. When she finally did come over she asked me a couple of times if I wanted a drink and then again when she came back to take my order. No, no, no, no. I don't want a drink. While I waited, I saw the cook come out of the restroom and start touching the buns. Whether she washed her hands inside the restroom or not, she still touched the bathroom door to get out. I almost walked out, but then I said that this probably happens more than we all know, so I just wanted to eat and I had waited enough time. I ordered my cheeseburger well-done. My burger sat a few minutes on the counter while my waitress talked to a couple of guys, so the other waitress picked up my food and tray and brought them to me. When I got the burger, it wasn't well-done, the bun was all scrunchy and soggy and the cheese was gross-looking. The burger and bun were dripping grease so I had to put a lot of the bun aside. I ate maybe four bites and then went to the cash register to pay and leave. Usually when I come to this restaurant, I get the same outgoing lady and the food has been very good. This time, I had a blonde/brown haired heavy-set woman. I told the lady, "the food was not good, so I left it." She was snappy and said to me that I should have told her so she could fix it and then she huffed away. Possibly could have told her, but I seriously doubt the next burger would have been any better. Why? Because she didn't care enough to take my order, pick up my order to see if it was right and when I told her the food wasn't good, she snapped at me instead of checking the food out herself. I guess when businesses say they need their customers, and waitresses say they need the tips, they don't really if they don't care about the cleanliness or food they serve. Shame. read more

This place is not the old Boll Weevil that we all remember. Starting with the price which for one quarter pounder a half pound burger and fries came to 30 bucks. The burgers were okay but not great. I probably would have given it two and a half Stars if it weren't for the Fox News Channel being played at high volume throughout the place. I think it was the owner who was watching the Fox News. Does he not know that 65% of Californians do not agree with what they say at Fox.? It didn't kill me listen to Fox News for the 15 minutes it took for them to make my burger for takeout but I just wonder whether they are losing a lot of business by that jerk sitting in the corner watching Fox News at full volume. read more

Came here last night and they have a good deal which is a quarter Pound burger, fries, and a drink for $10. What a deal! They even have trays with pickles and condiments on it. They have 2 pool tables and games. They had sports on TV. What more could you want? Saturday nights They have nachos for $1.99 & Friday night they have gyros for $1.99...regular price for gyros is 3.99...when the burger came I was a little bit underwhelmed but it was good for the price. I been searching of hamburger eateries online, and found the title of Weevil Burger; (to me) I that is only the reversal of the original name of the older business I known as Boll Weevil. So I called this place and asked "Is Weevil Burger related to Boll Weevil." I was given a reply within a couple of seconds, in the saying of "No." I was replied to, in a SHREWD, strong fashion. As if I offended his male. I then went to search online. As the online search of YELP PROVED, In Images (and later in reviews) that "Weevil Boll" is only the current format of what used to be of the (original) "Boll Weevil." The same design/format signage, the same design menu, the same format seating, etc. I don't know what this person who answered the phone was so worried, via his shrewd, concealing attitude. Had dinner at the Weevil last night with my wife and we were very impressed. The burgers were huge and delicious and the salads were quite good as well. The menu was large and varied, not just burgers. Overall very reminiscent of the original Bol Weevil restaurants, which this location was originally. We especially appreciated the service provided by our server, Maddy, she was great. We'll be back. The Gyro meat itself was tender, tasty and the lettuce, tomatoes, onions were fresh and crunchy. The sauce was very tasty too. The Weevil Onion Rings speak for themselves, even at $5.99. The Gyro was only $3.99. Best of all was the young lady that served my food. I don't know her name, but my ticket says clerk ID 3. There was no where on the coupon that said must be printed, there was even a bar code. The waitress said you must have the coupon printed. I haven't stopped into weevil burger on Fletcher Parkway in probably close to 6 years because It is always a place that I forget about but with the coupon that they send to local residents in the community, my mom and I decided to stop in on a rainy day and grab some burgers. Weevil Burger deals seriously cannot be beat! From Monday to Thursday, they have a 1/2 pound steerburger and fries for 7.99! This is honestly a deal you cannot beat and is what my mom and I both ended up ordering. The burger was cooked perfectly and I really like how they have a tray of all of their toppings so that you can add pretty much anything that you want to your burger to customize it. Our server was really considerate and caring and checked on us frequently to make sure that we had everything that we needed/wanted. The Weevil Burger prides themselves on fantastic service and I think this is truly what has kept them in business for all these years. I've been here twice. Two different servers. My experience was less than pleasing. Last night, I went to eat. I was there about an hour and there were two severs and five tables occupied. No large parties. Just parties of 2-5 people around. Got there stood at the front for two minutes, no greeting and went to seat myself and the server said sit wherever. Told her I needed a minute to order. She immediately asks what I would like and said I need a minute. She comes back 15 min later. Meanwhile I saw her talking to other employees and wondering around. Irritating. I almost walked out and I should have, the service didn't get better. Asked what I wanted and I told her. She then asked one of my friends what side they wanted with their meal. "What would you like for a side?" Not once did she mention an additional cost. Waited another 15, while eating she came over and began to take the tray with the condiments. She was stopped. We didn't signal or say we we're done. Drinks were empty. After all the waiting I didn't dare ask for a refill that would have taken too long. Every time I looked at her to see what she was doing she was talking or just standing there. I received the bill and saw a charge for the side when she specifically stated "what side would you like?" Not even acknowledging an additional cost. Not once did she ask how is everything for you? No follow up questions. This isn't a big luxary place however neither is Applebee's and they check on you and make sure your drinks aren't empty. The bill was $50 with the cost of the "side" she then walked off and another employee had to finish the transaction. She didn't ask how every thing went either I replied I just want to get out of here. I might as well have served myself. I didn't see a manager on duty. I am so excited to write this review. I want to take a moment to recognize a server at this establishment named BRENDA!! Yesterday was my sons birthday dinner that I had planned for 7pm. I messed Up and told my guests 6:30pm, silly me! As my family showed up they were shocked at by amount of people that were there! A party of 50 or More came In last minute because of the weather (they were originally at a park). To be completely honest it was overwhelming for me. Loud and too many people to my liking. However, Brenda made me and my family feel like we were the only ones there! She took SUCH good care of us (a party of at least 25) in addition, she was taking other tables too!! Big shout out to the kitchen staff too because our food was not delayed and came out fast!! I couldn't believe how calm, cool, and collected Brenda was with so many people! She was also very Patient with me. Originally, my guest total was 15 but, grew to 25 and added tables and chairs as we needed them (even when another server told us NO!) my baby boys birthday was seamless. Thank you Brenda! read more

My friend convinced me to try B. Burgers. Guess we should have stuck with their burgers. We had BBQ wings, gyro sandwich and sweetpotato fries... wings were over cooked, and small, not worth $14.??. The Gyros were putting it lightly excruciating, the pita bread was old (IMHO) and tough as shoe leather. The meat was not freshly cut from a rotisserie skewer as traditionally it would be, our guess something from a can or frozen out of a prepared pouch, then grilled to heat it up. Just finished up dinner here with the family. Great little joint if you have kids, nice and spacious with little quarter games to play. 4 stars mostly due to our fast and friendly service, but I would give 3 stars for food quality vs the price. Positives included: Good specials! Friday night specials were half off appetizers and happy hour from 4-9(no imports or wheat beer on happy hour). Good service and the games were so helpful if you have fidgety kids. They've also improved their salads, nice crisp lettuce, none of that brown wilted stuff like the last time we went there. Negatives: Food quality was sub par. Burgers were on sesame seed buns, I guess that can be considered "classic" to some, but to me I can only have a burger on a nice toasty brioche. Ranch tasted like store bought. They also are using plastic silverware and like the cheapest ones they could find at that! My fork prongs bent trying to eat the appetizers and they use styrofoam plates, such a waste and so bad for the environment :( Overall the food isnt the best, but it serves its purpose as a family burger joint. read more
