    Outside it's literally a shack.

3.5 stars My coworkers raves about their brisket, so I made my way over after work, but was told they were all out so I order a full rack of ribs. I waited and got my ribs which came with jalapeños, pickles and pickled red onions. I was surprised that all the ribs were cut up into individual ribs; Usually when I order a half or full rack they come in large slabs. This kind of threw me off. The ribs were ok but I think held or cooked in foil to keep them moist. After I ordered it they literally left the shack unattended and went into the grocery store and then my food arrived. So its really just a shack that's an extension of Valley Farm grocery store. There are a few outdoor seats covered by a tent, but I think its best to just take it home, since you'd just basically be eating in a grocery store parking lot. They also serve coffee drinks which I ordered while I waited for my food but the system shuts them out after the time listed. So don't be late for breakfast (served till 11) or food or coffee after 7, they literally cant take your order. After I reported back to my coworker, he said to be sure to ask for the Pineapple Express sauce. So I guess I'll be back for the brisket with Pineapple Express sauce.

"Smoked Tri Tip" plate with one side 26 dollars

one of the most pathetic I have ever seen cooking on a campfire has a better smoke flavor. I paid $55 not including the tip I left for some reason for smoked tri-tip plate and smoked beef barbecue plate serving this kind of food on the East Coast and calling it smoked barbecue would get you beat down and or shot by Mexican Black people and maybe even some . I'm thinking about taking this home and using the tri-tip to sand in the body of the motorcycle I'm rebuilding that "meat" is so dry. Some business advice adopt a six-year-old from the southeast doesn't matter his race or religion. He could probably make better barbecue than anybody in the state. I will attach pictures below. Do not waste your time or money. There's no return for the 20 minutes and $55 that I wasted today. I've never been on yelp, but I sure downloaded the app just to leave a review at this place.

Pricey for the portions. $25 for the plate below, the sides are the size of samples. The food tastes good but still doesn't justify the price :/. I remember the plates used to filled and there would be leftovers

This is literally a shack on a corner of the Spring Valley property where Valley Farm Market resides. A long, multi-compartment smoker sat in the parking lot adjacent to the structure where meats were being slow cooked. I believe the finished products were then taken inside the market for portioning and packaging before being handed to customers. Several picnic tables with overhead cover were in front of the shack in case you wanted to enjoy your food and drink on-site. The operating hours were from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm daily. From the business name, you couldn't tell that barbeque was the featured cooking style. For beverages, the menu had coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, and non-alcoholic drinks. Breakfast food offerings included burritos, omelettes, and avocado toast as examples. The variety of lunch items was unexpectedly diverse. The lynchpins were sandwiches using the BBQ meats which could also be ordered a la carte. A smashburger, hot dogs, chicken wings, and salads also fit the bill. Mexican fare (bowls, burritos, quesadillas, tacos) appeared on the menu with a final twist of poke(!) as a listing. I arrived before the lunch start time of 11:00. The lady at the register said she couldn't even take lunch orders yet until the system officially opened at the top of the hour. That was annoying because the staff could have been able to prepare if they can already see what is being requested, especially for non-BBQ orders. When the clock struck eleven, I was the first to approach the service window. My choices were four of the meats a la carte in 1/2 pound portions... brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, and tri-tip. It took nearly 30 minutes before my food was ready which was surprisingly long given I was the first to order lunch. A container of jalapenos, pickle slices, and pickled red onions was provided as complimentary sides. The meats had a strong smoky flavor to them, however the best was the tri-tip followed by the turkey. Valley Farm Market is known to source high quality tri-tip which was executed to perfection by the pitmaster with a simple seasoning of salt and pepper. The sweet BBQ sauce included in my takeout bag did not even need to be applied. On weekdays, there's a daily deal available. The most intriguing was the Taco Tuesday special of $2.99 tacos each with a limit of five. Shrimp and tri-tip would be the protein selections for my tacos. The downgrade to my rating was because of the ordering and food preparation processes. I wonder if the lag occurred for the latter because the meats were not ready yet to be pulled from the smoker by 11:00. They could have needed resting time before being sliced because certainly cutting a half pound of meat and placing it in a container was not as labor intensive as assembling a sandwich.

This Shack at Valley Farm's Market in Spring Valley has changed identity a couple of time, but now they seemed to blended the best of both worlds: A coffee shop and a BBQ house with smashed burgers and tacos. I've been to the shack of a couple of times now. First was for some coffee and an avocado toast. The coffee was good, and the avocado toast was really good and came with plenty of smashed avocado. Now, the double smash burger with fries was fantastic. They use quality beef, which is ground in-house, at the marker next door. The beef flavors were great, and the burger as w whole was great, too. The double smash burger comes with sauteed umami onions, American cheese, a secret sauce, on a toasted brioche bun. You can get this great burger on Thursdays for $10.99. Any other day, the double smash costs $14.99. It comes with fries. They offer outside shaded seating and service is very friendly.

    Single smash burger and fries
    Matthew D.

Okay found us an East County GEM! Our first order was their single smash burger and my.... It didn't disappoint! A Juicy burger with the right amount of caramelized onion and cheese sandwiched between a buttery and toasted brioche bun! Great fries and fast service! Ordered online and it was done within 10 minutes. Can't wait to try their other menu items when I'm on the go! There's not much ambiance, but You can dine on-site but it's just a few covered picnic tables in a busy intersection of SV giving you that taco stand feel....

lemon pepper wings (kind of burnt)
    LaChrisha R.

We probably go the Shack twice a week and it's usually delicious. This is the first problem we have encountered. The wings were pretty burnt and pretty dry. I called to let them know and the person that answered just said thanks for letting us know. She didn't offer any fix for their mistake. That was a bit disappointing. I would just suggest that you always check your order before leaving the shack because it looks like they won't offer a remedy

    Baja Bowl w/Pollo
    Victoria L.

The food was good. I got the Baja Bowl with Pollo Asada and the cilantro lime rice. The rice was good, but I wish it had more of a "limey" flavor to it. The Pollo Asada in the bowl was tasty, but also wished there was a bit more of it in the bowl. Tasted a lot like a Chipolete bowl, but better and better ingredients. The portion is pretty good. A single person could eat it all but could also be shared between two people and still be pretty filling. We ordered online, so it was ready for pickup when we got there, and the service was quick and friend. Overall, it's not amazing, but it's pretty good. Maybe a little pricy, but understandable for the amount you get. You can choose the stay there and eat outdoors too.

TL,DR: Outstanding food, priced right, great service and great atmosphere…read more I had driven past this place a few times and the name always cracks me up, reminds me of Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber. My wife tricked me into going with her to Walmart to pick up some shit, so I got to pick the spot for lunch and this is what I picked. Got there about 2 PM on Good Friday and there were a few people there but nothing crazy. Got seated right away and ordered drinks, a Pacifico for me, Sprite for the wifey - got them right away. For food, I got a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with tots, wifey got a regular bacon cheeseburger with everything plus fries, and I was curious so I also got the $10 chocolate (fudge) shake. Shake was delivered first. Expectations were high, and I was not disappointed. The shake was served in the metal tin, made with loads of real ice cream, whipped cream, fudge, drizzle of chocolate syrup, and chocolate sprinkles. Honestly not sure what I was thinking when mixing beer with shake, in hindsight I wouldn't do that again... but it was one of the best shakes I've had in a long while. Burgers came out shortly afterwards. Wifey's was cooked perfectly medium, which is an unusual thing for most burger places these days; most of the time when I order a burger medium, it comes out medium well or well done. These were both perfectly medium. Both burgers came out with a generous amount of potato products, more than either of us could hope to stuff down our gullets in one sitting. The food was outstanding. The service was great. The music was too loud for the wife but it was the kind of music that is supposed to be played loud so no points off for that from me. A nice vibe overall. I'll definitely be back.

Coming back last night and seeing all the changes was pretty neat! The owner, Sarah, came out to greet us and personally took care of us, which made the experience feel even more special. I ordered the single burger, and my buddy went with the sliders. Both were solid not dry at all, and you could really taste the great quality of the meat. Sarah shared with us that she and her husband source their beef directly from Monterrey, Mexico, just three hours from the Texas border (you can even fly straight there from the TJ airport!). The meat is grass-fed and hormone-free, and it definitely shows in the flavor and juiciness of the patties. My single burger was juicy and packed with flavor, and the truffle fries were amazing crispy, savory, and perfectly seasoned.
