We started with a mini martini and goat cheese tart combo that they promoted as a bite while you decide on the menu for the night... very creative idea! We ordered a bunch of plates to share and everything was delicious but the most surprising was the kangaroo dish? As we were visiting Australia we had to order this off the menu but were not expecting it to be a raw dish like tartare. However, we were so pleasantly surprised with the taste! We shared 3 of the desserts and all of them were heavenly! Such a delicious dinner, great service, and some great people watching as well! This was a dinner I will remember for a very long time!!

This was the most highly rated restaurant in Surry Hills, and it exceeded all expectations. I cannot say enough great things about the duck slow cooked in plum sauce. It was perfectly seasoned with a bright, sweet plum glaze-- the meat was so tender that it fell off the bone. This was hands down the most delicious duck dish I have ever eaten. We enjoyed a handful of their appetizers (oyster shooters, mini pancakes with crème fresh, etc), all of which were incredible. Very grateful to our waiter for being so helpful with menu suggestions and accommodating one of the guests with a more complicated food palette. The ambience inside was intimate with low warm lightly. The music was classy and not too loud. Such a beautiful and memorable space.

That's a mouth full! :D Came across the Alibi from YouTube. The video of this place looks amazing so I was like, this is cute, lets check it out! Not doing a deeper dive to find out this is a vegan establishment. Nothing against vegans, just your girl likes to eat meat! Haha, my bad for not looking more into it. Regardless after a long day exploring Sydney, we had to eat! The Grub. Mac N' Cheese Bites ($12). It was just okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the choice of cheese they used. Cheeseburger Spring Rolls ($12). This was also just okay too, lacking the right flavor in my opinion. But that's probably because its vegan and they are using substitutes. Potato Pizza ($18). This was actually pretty good. You really could taste the truffle oil. And I never have a pizza with thinly sliced potatoes, mushrooms and rosemary. It's a good combination. Aside from the food being a hit or miss, the cocktails we ordered were good. I cant remember the name of these two :( But after a long day exploring the city, these drinks hit the spot. They were refreshing and delicious. Perfect way to end the day.

We were waited on immediately. Servers fly around like dancers, it's actually pretty impressive. Our food arrived in no time. My wife had fish and chips and I had lamb and rosemary pie. She enjoyed her meal. Mine was different than I've had before. It was still ok but I wouldn't order it again. Others would probably like it, it just wasn't for me. We didn't have any dessert but as you walk in the door they have some wonderful looking pies and cakes. Do yourself a favor and save room for one of those. I messed up and didn't try something. This is actually a really cool restaurant that I would like to try again. I wouldn't let one dish that didn't hit my taste buds keep me away.

The sauce is a bit rich for me, but you can brush some of the sauce off with your fork. If kangaroo is not your thing, then there are plenty of other options on the menu... and the crowd around us all looked pleased with their orders. My niece and I ate here on my last night of a two week trip to Australia. The meal was…read moreexceptional. The first course was termed snacks, and consisted of an oxtail skewer, a mini-crab tart, a slab of country bread, and a couple of pickle slices. We added two optional items to that: a grilled scallop with Nori butter and a Moreton Bay Bug. The two optional items were excellent. I enjoyed the other items as well but wished the oxtail skewer was served hotter. The next course was a sashimi-like preparation of tuna and scallop, served in a tomato water and accompanies by a thin thin flatbread and a horseradish sauce. At this point, we were happy, but when the next course came we crossed from happy into blown away. The main course was lamp rump crusted with a dill and tarragon mix, and served with Hasselback potatoes in a Comte cheese sauce. The lamb was incredibly tender and flavorful. The potatoes were CRAZY good. The photo that looks like croissants were the potatoes - maybe the best potatoes I've ever had. There was also a small tasty salad. At this point, we were getting full, but there was no way we were leaving a morsel of that main course behind. After the main course came a double dessert. One item was creme brulee, served with a fresh blackberry sauce. The other item was termed a petit four but was shaped more like a mini-muffin. It was a hazelnut based pastry served with a cream made of white chocolate and maybe ricotta or mascarpone. Whatever you want to call it, that petit four was unreal. It was SO good that neither of us left a crumb behind, and both of us concluded that we could eat one every day for the rest of our lives. From the name and the information I had about the menu from Instagram and other sources, I expected a very formal "white-table-cloth" atmosphere. Instead, the restaurant itself was small and casual, with half the dinner service provided on small outdoor tables on the sidewalk. That's not a complaint, just not what I expected. All in all, the meal was outstanding. A wonderful way to end a vacation.

With a prix fixe menu (AUD 85), all you have to decide is whether to eat here or not and whether to pair it with wine (AUD 70). While the baba au rhum was prepared well, I was more interested in the gelatin. Dining outside proved to be quite noisy with the ambulance, horn honking, and a motorcycle engine revving several times. For next time, I would choose indoors.

On the third morning of our stay, we were looking for an early-open breakfast eatery or coffee shop…read morebecause we wanted breakfast but not to stuff ourselves before our late lunch at the Sydney Opera House's Bennelong restaurant. Our hotel's concierge suggested we look into breakfast eateries or a bakery at nearby Barangaroo wharf and pointed us two blocks down on Sussex Street, where we stumbled upon Wild Sage. Walking up to their patio dining area, we were greeted by a friendly young man who offered us a choice between patio and indoor seating and provided menus. We chose to dine outdoors to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and cool yet comfortable temperature. After being seated, the young man, brought us glasses of chilled water while we waited for the server to take our morning beverage and breakfast orders. Our cheery server, Marissa, came by shortly after delivering another table's order and we were ready to order right away. FOOD & BEVERAGE: -Sticky Chai Tea: I requested the chai tea as its blend of natural spices with soy milk appealed to me on this slightly chilly morning. As I poured the steamy steeping hot chai tea through the strainer into the glass, its full aromas wafted towards me as I "aerated" or pulled the tea. $8.50 AUD -Proscuitto Toastie: Triple cheese (Gruyere, mozzarella, & scamorza), sliced proscuitto, truffle bechamel, & pickles on soy linseedsourdough. Although we're slightly lactose-intolerant, my husband decided to order this "upscale" ham and cheese sandwich. It was so rich in flavors and textures that he could only eat half the portion even though he was tempted to finish both sandwich halves. Notably, the toasted sourdough's crisp, crunchy, exterior and warm chewy interior tasted of caramelization and nuttiness. Its tangy sourness offered a savory balance to the creamy, slightly nutty and sweet scamorza and mozzarella cheeses. The creamy cheeses balanced the savory saltiness from the proscuitto and Gruyere. $24 AUD -Truffle Mushroom Toast: I selected this open faced toasted sourdough sandwich which was generously topped with roasted mixed mushrooms, confit garlic and truffle butter, thyme, goat cheese, crispy leeks, and poached eggs. The roasted mixed mushrooms flavors were enhanced "just right" with the truffle butter without being overpowered. This vegetarian sandwich was protein-packed, filling, and very flavorful. $26 AUD We took our time over breakfast while discussing our Sydney exploration plans at this clean, bright, and friendly cafe. It's too bad we didn't have more time in Sydney to return for more but, isn't that the dilemma while traveling? "Too many restaurants, too little time."
