The steak was superb, properly grilled, nicely served. The wine was fairly priced. The selection was decent. That's the good, and is very good. However, the service was borderline chaotic, servers changing frequently, which meant no continuity. We had to answer the same questions again and again.Big frequent push to add extras The Africa theme is pointless.

The restaurant was full and I was only able to get a booking at 5.45pm for dinner. The server was knowledgeable and made such great recommendations that we had a really lovely meal. His choice of Cabernet Sauvignon to go with the steak and ribs was very good too. As we couldn't decide on which dessert, the finale was a fab choice to share as it had the tiramisu, creme brûlée, sticky date pudding and the lava cake. Nothing but crumbs left...

Out standing service with friendly professional. Excellent food as well. Ambiance was well decorated.

The Cauliflower Mac & Cheese listed under sides...enough for a meal!

Amazing. All of it. Eat here. Make a reservation. Could be a smidge pricey depending on your budget, but 100% worth it. Wine selection is epic...came back later for take away dessert...also wonderful! Side note, ambiance is really cool, we had an early reservation, 5:30pm, was a bit empty, we were fine in casual clothing and didn't feel out of place. Later, when picking up dessert, the place was slammed busy, and I would have felt more comfortable in slightly nicer clothing.

Very classy ambience and high quality food. Nice place for an occasional fancy night out as the prices are high. The quality of the meat is exceptional.

Speakeasy vibe of dining decor! I came here specifically for kangaroo meat to try when in Australia! I was doing my research and this place was mentioned for kangaroo meat to taste try! It was quite an experience! I ordered up the kangaroo skewer, of course. The kangaroo meat was chewier than the norm of steak meat and juicier. There was a bit of gaminess to the skewer pieces. The kangaroo meat pieces were complimenting with what tasted seemingly like cranberry sauce and I asked for substitute of thinly sliced onion rings rather than chips! It was the most delicious and surprising combo that I have ever had for awhile! I asked for Dijon mustard to add spazz to the meat and it was overwhelmingly savory and indulging! I enjoyed every bite! I got the full on attention of my bartending waiter during my dining here and was satisfied with the pleasantry and wine samples exchanged! Tipped generously (even though there's no suggested tipping in Australia). I loved the cab red wine that enhanced the flavor of the kangaroo meat. I came, I tried, and then I left overly satisfied. All smiles here when there was sprinkling rain and cloudiness outside!

The location is superb, right at the circular quay. The service is mediocre, there was a bug in my salad and the waiter took a long time to change it.there was barely any table service we had to track down the waiters to refill water. The food. Not impressed. We ordered wagyu steak, steak and prawn skewers, prime steak, a green salad and Panna cotta. Everything is average, the skewers were burnt, the first salad had a bug in it. The dining environment was nice, especially for a hot summer day. We were disappointed for the food.

Absolutely incredible! We ordered the ribeye (option of salad or fries as side) and, of course, the kangaroo skewer - both were delicious but the kangaroo really stood out! It was quite well-grilled and had an excellent flavor (in addition to the touristy novelty of it). We also had one of their cocktails, which was quite good as well. Honestly we were thinking about this meal for days afterward!

Came here wanting to try kangaroo meat, as I couldn't find too many places in the area that serve it. Plus, it was nearing the end of the day and we were too tired to take the subway from Circular Quay to somewhere else, so we opted for The Meat & Wine Co. Seeing another one of its locations by Town Hall, I knew this was a chain but didn't think too much about the quality of the food. This is located below the Intercontinental Hotel, and although hotel restaurants usually scream "FANCY," this was not. The dim lighting and old wooden interiors give this place an intimate ambiance that also reminds me a bit Australian wildlife--almost as if I was dining at a hunter's kitchen. We had the Farmhouse Lamb Shanks and Short Rib Steak. Both were okay--not spectacular or anything. I think the Lamb Shanks were much more flavorful since it was stew-like and had an explosion of spices. The Short Rib Steak was average--I didn't enjoy this too much because the meat was pretty hard to chew. We also had a rack of Kangaroo skewers; I've had kangaroo before (obviously not so fresh), but I thought this was tasteless. The meat was great and tender, either they didn't season it well enough, or it just wasn't enough to overpower the kangaroo meat taste. I did like the onion rings and the Yukon Gold potatoes though. It was a bad idea ordering entrees with a rack, had we known the portions of a rack would be so big. I think it would be enough for 2 people to have their own meat rack as a meal, or maybe even 3. I was a bit annoyed that they asked if we wanted sparkling water as if it was at no charge, only to realize we were going to be charged $8 when the Pellegrino bottle came. Not cool, guys. The service, however, was excellent though--my phone needed some serious charging and they brought a portable charge to my table. Our server, Kate, was funny and told us a lot about how kangaroo meat isn't served as often as we would think. I'm starting to think that maybe I needed a glass of wine.

The restaurant in located in the Intercontinental hotel, the entrance to the restaurant is just off the street , you don't have to go thru lobby to get there but DONT miss the lobby !! It is beautiful!! There is also several wonderful places to eat on the lobby level. The decor of Meat & wine is nice casual & cozy. We went for happy hour which had good prices on wines & cocktails , but no happy hour food. We ordered the skewers. I ordered the salmon which was so tender so juicy!! It was the best salmon I have ever had !!! My friends ordered the beef & shrimp combo which they said was also very good. I do think the prices are a bit inflated. 1 salmon skewer was $35 AUD, but like I said it was very good. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice occasion , it is end it really worth trying at least once, if not more

Review Highlights - The Meat & Wine Co

The kangaroo skewer paired with a good red wine (as suggested by the kind bartender who even put a show for my friends and I) was a delight.

Located in the popular "The Rocks" tourist area, it is full of charm and staffed by the friendliest folks you'll meet in Sydney. You felt happy just walking by the place. It was full of energy and bustle. We ate there twice, once for breakfast and, since we liked it so much, went back for dinner. Both were outstanding. Service was great. For dinner, I was just in the mood for a simple Burrata Salad and a Spaghetti Bolognaise. Now, the Rocks is not an Italian place, but their versions of these dishes were among the best I've ever had. My partner had the fish and chips, and raved about that too. If you can prepare such simple dishes so beautifully, I can imagine how good the other items on the menu must be. When we left, the woman I imagined to be an owner gave us a wonderful thank you and farewell. THIS is the way to run a small tourist spot!

Inside wasn't bad, the table was big and the chairs comfortable. We were waited on immediately. Servers fly around like dancers, it's actually pretty impressive. Our food arrived in no time. My wife had fish and chips and I had lamb and rosemary pie. She enjoyed her meal. Mine was different than I've had before. It was still ok but I wouldn't order it again. Others would probably like it, it just wasn't for me. We didn't have any dessert but as you walk in the door they have some wonderful looking pies and cakes. Do yourself a favor and save room for one of those. I messed up and didn't try something. This is actually a really cool restaurant that I would like to try again. I wouldn't let one dish that didn't hit my taste buds keep me away.

Our hotel's concierge suggested we look into breakfast eateries or a bakery at nearby Barangaroo wharf and pointed us two blocks down on Sussex Street, where we stumbled upon Wild Sage. Walking up to their patio dining area, we were greeted by a friendly young man who offered us a choice between patio and indoor seating and provided menus. We chose to dine outdoors to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and cool yet comfortable temperature. After being seated, the young man, brought us glasses of chilled water while we waited for the server to take our morning beverage and breakfast orders. Our cheery server, Marissa, came by shortly after delivering another table's order and we were ready to order right away. FOOD & BEVERAGE: -Sticky Chai Tea: I requested the chai tea as its blend of natural spices with soy milk appealed to me on this slightly chilly morning. As I poured the steamy steeping hot chai tea through the strainer into the glass, its full aromas wafted towards me as I "aerated" or pulled the tea. $8.50 AUD -Proscuitto Toastie: Triple cheese (Gruyere, mozzarella, & scamorza), sliced proscuitto, truffle bechamel, & pickles on soy linseedsourdough. Although we're slightly lactose-intolerant, my husband decided to order this "upscale" ham and cheese sandwich. It was so rich in flavors and textures that he could only eat half the portion even though he was tempted to finish both sandwich halves. Notably, the toasted sourdough's crisp, crunchy, exterior and warm chewy interior tasted of caramelization and nuttiness. Its tangy sourness offered a savory balance to the creamy, slightly nutty and sweet scamorza and mozzarella cheeses. The creamy cheeses balanced the savory saltiness from the proscuitto and Gruyere. $24 AUD -Truffle Mushroom Toast: I selected this open faced toasted sourdough sandwich which was generously topped with roasted mixed mushrooms, confit garlic and truffle butter, thyme, goat cheese, crispy leeks, and poached eggs. The roasted mixed mushrooms flavors were enhanced "just right" with the truffle butter without being overpowered. This vegetarian sandwich was protein-packed, filling, and very flavorful. $26 AUD We took our time over breakfast while discussing our Sydney exploration plans at this clean, bright, and friendly cafe. It's too bad we didn't have more time in Sydney to return for more but, isn't that the dilemma while traveling? "Too many restaurants, too little time."
