From the moment you pull into the street, the vibe being given off by this place is evident. Groups of peoople sprawled along the pavenement waiting for a table or their take away coffee Passion for coffee is right up their with the best, although they dont roast their own, serving Morgan's is as good as it gets, Dbl ristretti , tick, latte, tick. The big breakfast was filling, flavoursome and nicely presented Finally, the service was impressive. It looks like they serve a fair number of regulars who keep coming back because they know how good it gets. Enough staff on the floor to make sure you're looked after even on the biggest of weekend mornings

There is no question that you need to pull the trigger on Revolver. This Annandale delight not only offers up stonkingly good coffee (and in spritely fashion!), but the food is downright delectable. With Sonoma bread and organic eggs, it's hard to go past the scrumptious Sumac cured bacon and scrambled eggs (see photo - $14.50), but if you're packing a solid appetite then the Big and the Vegie breakies ($15.50 and $16.50) are both worthy contenders. Those with hangovers to placate will be delighted to see an ultimate cheeseburger on the menu ($14.50), but don't forget to consider the ridiculously good lamb bruschetta ($15.50), which boasts nine hours of roasting and simply melts in your mouth. For something sweet, order up the ricotta hotcakes ($14.50) with the most mouthwatering muddle of berries, ricotta and maple syrup. Better yet, this is the place to go with friends and share! Be prepared to wait on weekends - this charming corner cafe is a fast favourite with locals - but if you're lucky you'll nab a table in the dappled sunlight, complete with blankets to cuddle into during the cooler months. If not, don't worry; you'll definitely be rocking up to Revolver again.

A friend and I went here for brunch on a Sunday at about 10:30, not realising it was going to busy. It was packed with a whole bunch of people waiting to be seated. We put our name down anyway. The staff were very friendly and kept the flow of people coming and going really well. We had to wait for about 30 minutes, but it was well worth it. The food was amazing. I had the big veggie breakfast - it was served in a skillet and very delicious all mixed together.

When I'd heard that Revolver had been listed as one of Sydney's top ten cafes, I was sceptical. My experiences here had been good but I wouldn't have considered them top ten worthy. And yet on closer introspection I can see why it qualifies. Revolver is extremely popular amongst it's Annandale residents, meaning that snagging a table here will often involve a weekend wait. Chances are that this has been the way for a while, as the cheery and pragmatic owner handles the situation with practised ease. Like the owner, the rest of the staff here are friendly, helpful and accommodating and it seems that it would take a lot to get on their bad side. The atmosphere here is vibrant and rumour has it that Hilltop Hoods graffitied the feature wall in this bustling cafe. One wall is lined with bookshelves and an accompanying rolling library ladder, which in my eyes adds charm and class to any establishment. Crockery is tea-party perfect, made up of a jumble of vintage tea cups, saucers and plates (including the sweetest peacock blue piccolo cups I've ever seen). The breakfast menu is appealing and adds it's own Revolver spin - their Big Breakfasts (vegie and meat) involve all your favourites being cooked up in the one pan and then served in said pan, filled with enough food to easily feed two of me. Their interesting selection of teas come in quaint and practical teapots, accompanied with an egg timer for perfect brewing time. The do freshly squeezed juices that are fresh and cold and with just the right amount of pulp. Oh, and their banana bread is gluten free. Tick. So yes, I can see why it qualifies. The main reason I didn't agree in the first place? The coffee isn't fantastic, and in order for a cafe to qualify in my top ten, it MUST have good coffee. And whilst the peacock blue almost made up for it, it didn't quite pull it through.

Yep, they get us tea drinkers

This cafe is the whole package- great service, food and atmosphere. I came at about 9.00 of a chilly Thursday morning. No wait for a table though a steady stream of people in and out. I rather guiltily nabbed a 3 seater table (I was a lone diner) right by the roaring fire, and got nothing but best service all the time. When I asked for tomato sauce, I was offered a house made bbq tomatoey one which hit the spot. And the Avo breakfast was great- scrambled eggs cooked just right. Let's start with the tea. They really get tea drinkers. A good tea list. Served in antique China ware. Teapots that are see through so you can see the strength and that don't spill. A timer so you can time the tea to brew from Whe they filled it, so it is the correct strength. Love it. They really respect the tea drinkers among us. Kid friendly, pet Friendly, they have outdoor seats with heaters and blankets too. Cool ambient music, pleasant sound of chatter, No reading material of any note, so bring your own, but that was the only quibble in an otherwise great experience. Recommended.

Best place in the area for breakfast. The signature big breakfasts that are served in a small frying pan could probably feed two but it's always too tempting to just order one each. The specials are consistently good and I love that they point out which items are gluten or dairy free. Prices are pretty standard for Sydney brekkie, sometimes it's best to go for brunch just to make the most of it because one meal will often keep you going all the way till dinner.

This breakfast is a life saver ! Too many beers last night ..... a distant memory now after this .... This place is Awesome !! Joey happy !

What a great venue !! The food to die for ..... the staff so happy & willing to please ..... attentive and an eager eye to make sure all is going well and smoothly for you. A real winner in this quiet part of inner Sydney.

My favourite cafe in Sydney! An amazing mix of quality coffee, delicious food, great service and awesome location... The owner and staff are great and although a little on the pricey side for a cafe- well worth every cent!!

We ordered brioche buns with gelato and a nutella filled arancino. I thought the food was great and the gelato filled brioche was very similar to what I ate in southern Italy. Love how novel (and tasty) the arancino was! However I thought the service was a bit lackluster and abrupt which was a shame. After seeing other reviews I see this is common so I do hope that improves in the future. So go for the desserts and be prepared for below average service.

The place is quaint, it's got a cute mix of mismatched furniture, AstroTurf walls and an antique oven at the back. Unfortunately the cute surroundings were let down by the lack of ventilation inside. The menu is half in Italian, which is generally good unless they don't explain it to you...which they didn't. For someone who's Italiano starts with si and ends with pasta varieties..I felt a bit like going to an espresso bar for the first time in Rome, I asked for recommendations and what a few items was and they read out the name as is, no explanations just a little shrug and bored expression. The young family behind me had a similar response as well and ended up ordering whatever that was in English. Not ideal. The food itself was quite nice, the granita was outstanding. I so desperately wanted to like it was let down by a few execution errors. It's not going to stop me from going back though, I just need to be more prepared (no lip gloss required, just google).

OMG Am I really the first to be reviewing this place? Good lord! Why!????…read more Look here's the scoop:- Cafe BIrkenhead as a name opened (if memory serves) in 1996 or 1997. It won accolade after accolade for sensational food, with a seasonal menu (yeah they changed it every season) and million dollar waterfront views of the harbour, right across to North Sydney (you could see the brown block of RNS in the distance), but with magnificent Cockatoo Island in the foreground. I adored this place. Then it changed hands and everything went a little "cheaper".. same type of food, but instead of delicate obviously fresh whiting fillets for "fish and chips" something frozen and re-fried was slathered on top of a pile of greasy chips. Then Birkenhead point changed. Cafe Birkenehead had to move, and it now has.. a-hundred-thousand dollar views of... other peoples apartments in Balmain, across sparce water filled with a marina, with little traffic. Worst, the layout of the new place is so wide that the views aren't that great from the ample couch seating at the entrace side. Too many staff now dominate the floor, and I don't think any of them know what they are doing, at least none of them knew enough to take our order in a timely manner (the first time we returned) or to serve it in a timely manner (the second time; yes I had to ask for the food to be brought out) Who eats polenta chips? Honestly? they are greasy and disgusting, and frankly sound like a way of using up left-over polenta carried over from one of the other restaurants owned by this multi-congolomerate restaurant chain (Blackbird at Darling Harbour have you mended your broken wing yet?!). Why do I mention these polenta so-called "chips"? Well, because they are absolutely ubiquitous on the fabric covered menu. Everywhere. The schnitzel was generous, and lovely, if you discount the mushroom sauce which was obviously made with that "sauce base" you can buy in a beer bottle (look for it at Coles) and the fish was actually quite well cooked although its en-crustment of chickpea neither holds up to that wonderful crunch I expect from deep fried fish, nor to taste, as anything remotely pulse like in the batter was lost amidst the staple batter ingredients. Food that arrived late, food that pretentiously apes at classy bistro food combined with late, un-interested and un-caring overall service, ritzy "look there's fire!!" decorations, fancy exposed beams and air-vents (that's Birkenehead Point's signature look).. Does this sentence make sense? No? neither does "Cafe" Birkenhead. My memories are of a better place. Sorry, cafe birkenehead, keep trying. I'll review this again no doubt in the coming months because I am a sucker for punishment.
