Honestly, I really didn't like this place. Okay, it was crowded, but that tends to be the case with a lot of coffee shops in the inner city. However, the tea that I ordered ended up being really strong, which sort of puts me off somewhat, and also the sugar that they had wasn't really the type of sugar that I particularly liked. Yeah, I think I'll pass on this one next time.

Love this place! Food is always sooo delicious and beautiful. It's an enjoyable and relaxing. There is plenty of light when you go inside because it's an open area, but if it's raining or cold you will be sheltered and warm from the heating. The staff is polite and friendly. Been there many times and always a great experience. Look at how pretty the lattes are

Favorite spot for breakfast/lunch in Sydney. The atmosphere is amazing (especially in the courtyard) and nothing on the menu disappoints. Definitely a hidden gem.

    Henry Lee's concept cafe

I admit: I get a kick out of discovering new places. Not because I want to be the first, but more that I get to share my excitement. So hear me when I shout from the proverbial rooftop - Henry Lee's is a new breed of cafe! Henry Lee's is a concept cafe kitchen - meaning it's a significant step up from SAD (Standard Australian Dining). Hidden in a Redfern laneway (entrance off Hart Street) I bounced in with excitement when I saw the space blended the indoors and outdoors with a plant-filled urban courtyard and cozy indoor tables. The menu is remarkable - it reads like a weekend trip to your favourite butcher, farmers' market, juicery and tea bar. I started with a Tippity 'Chai Chai Chai' blended with Australian native herbs and served with coconut milk - I was singing the praises of aromatic myrtle medley (cinnamon, anise, lemon) and bought a jar to take home. Henry Lee's serves breakfast until 12pm, which we sadly just missed as I had my eye on the Push The Sky Away polenta porridge with salted pecan praline, poached rhubarb and The Urban Beehive honey. Notable sides: maple bacon + gin and citrus cured salmon. But dry your eyes Andjelka - the lunch menu is equally as incredible! We all shared a bunch of moorish dishes like a Middle Eastern inspired braised lamb salad, a pickled beetroot and kale number, and a flavoursome lamb shank sandwich with in-house made gluten free seeded bread. Top marks for looking out for glutard friends! Of course no shared meal is complete without potato - and the sweet potato wedges and paprika salted fries were the table favourites! Henry Lee's has only been open two weeks but they have the sustainable, small batch ethos down packed. I was not alone in my fanfare, my brother (who's a chef) high fived the kitchen and my friends are clambering to come back. More than a kick; I'm calling Henry Lee's a 'song and dance' eating out experience!

This was a recommendation by a friend. It was worth the recommendation. It is still a bit of a hidden gem with more out of towners' going to it. However, I would recommend getting there before 9:30 am on a Sunday unless you want to wait 30 minutes until a table is free. The coffee is on point, the service was funky and at the same time highlighted why certain people should be in the industry over others. Food... all I can say, is get in there and try before it runs out! I had the blue burger and words cannot explain the mixture of flavours I tasted. From the coffee infused bacon jam to the bright coloured orange yolks of the eggs. Highly recommend. Only reason I gave it a four star, was due to our first waiter being tad slow and not providing water glasses. But once waiter was changed out, this place rocked my socks off.

Beautifully aesthetic instaworthy dishes and coffees. Ordered the red velvet latte and it was probably the best latte i've had recently. Specialty lattes are vibrant in colour! The food was impressive as well.

Tucked away in a back street is the most famous café in Redfern, Henry Lee's! This café boasts its open space and quirky fun menu! Specialty drinks are their kind of thing! White lavender hot chocolate, honeycomb affogato, Earl grey latte and more! But what I love the most... Their Taro Latte! Not too starchy, not too sweet, just how I like it!

Poor service. I asked one of the waitress to attend uncontrolled pets rounded around the restaurant with no success. Not coming back.

They have a really great assortment of chais here! The food sounds and looks really good, but isn't cheap. I will be back for sure.

The café occupies the corner of Garden st and Henderson Road and is industriously styled with cool marble and pink interior and a hanging garden. There's plenty of space inside and out, so I you won't be waiting long for a table. Serving Toby's estate coffee and a range of modern Australian dishes for both breakfast or lunch, as well as some sweet treats, is a popular café with the locals and visitors to the area alike. I've visited now on more than one occasion and the café is continuously striving to perfect their menu offerings. A group of us dined on this day to sample a number of the menu choices. The Grumpy's special of chili scrambled eggs were presented atop sourdough bread and a side of heirloom carrots, a heatlhy and wholesome meal. The winner of the day, and also one recommended to us was the Green Pea Smash with burrata and prosciutto. A great combination of flavours. From the sweets menu, we went for the Fig Brioche, topped with macadamia, honey, ricotta and vanilla ice cream (in place of the regular fairy floss). There were a few fruits topping it and would love to have a few more. The Grumpy's granola and pannacotta is also not only beautiful, but delicious and served with a raspberry pannacotta. Could be a sweet or breakfast ;) The venue also serves the famous cronuts (a mix of a doughnut and croissant, filled with a range of insides like cream, Nutella, caramel and topped with oreos etc. Surprise yourself. The guys at grumpy's are always friendly and hospitable. Make sure you pay them a visit.

The guy who runs this place is Peruvian and you can see the influence in some of the dishes here, especially the Peruvian Roll (duh.) If you've never had Peruvian chincarron before, you really need to get this roll. Seriously. It's one of the best rolls I've had in Sydney. The kumera (sweet potato) isn't overcooked, the pork is tender and delicious, the fried egg is a perfect runniness, and the salsa criolla with lemon mayo is a great complement. Friends got a few of the other stuff on the menu like the Puffed Galette, Beef Hash, and Mushroom Medley and really enjoyed those, in particular the Puffed Galette. They use coffee beans from The Golden Cobra and the coffee is pretty spot on. If you want to taste all the notes in the coffee with a cold brew, they do that too. The places loses marks only because service can be hit or miss. Food took an inordinate amount of time and waitress forgot things here and there. Otherwise, the food and coffee are fantastic.
