Clipper Cafe may look small on the outside but extends in for a spacious interior. On the left are a row of high tables while on the right there is a long communal bench. The space is very cosy and has cute decorations on the walls. I got an iced chai that was on the sweeter side for my taste but still very creamy and delicious. I forgot that iced in Australia means that they'll put ice cream in your drink, so if you're from out of the country be sure to clarify what you want to your server! Tip: this cafe, with free wifi, is perfect for getting some work done. If you're like me and always have multiple folders and notebooks, sit at the high tables! They all have shelves which are perfect for putting your things or a small bag.

I love Clippers for it's small and cozy atmosphere but I'm not too sure how I feel about the wait time and the food. I ordered a french onion soup - which tasted bland and lacked that savory taste you crave in a french onion soup. The coffee was alright - you can certainly find better coffee in Glebe. The crowd is very relaxed. Half of the crowd is mostly USyd students and the other half are probably recent USyd graduates and a few professionals here and there. Oh..and notice the woman with blond dreadlocks sitting at one of the outside tables, she is always there :)! Because the cafe is so small the seating is arranged so tightly - adding to it's intimate and cool atmosphere. I'm not sure if I'd pick this place for it's food but definitely for it's ambiance!

More than just a great value, Clipper serves some of the best brunch around. It's usually crowded with a sound level to match, something I would normally consider a flaw, but this café is endearing and cozy, bright and neighborly. All ingredients are local and it's the same menu all day long. I started off with a strong coffee, around $3. But my main dilemma was deciding whether I was in a sweet or savory mood. For me, it was a toss up between sweet ricotta pancakes and baked five-different beans-- but the beans, accompanied with halloumi and poached eggs, sounded to good to pass up. Our food took about 30 minutes to arrive at the table. I'm not sure if they were understaffed in the kitchen, or if that was the norm, but I'm glad I was patient that morning. There was one waitress, a very friendly girl who was impressively successful at seating, taking orders, and serving all the customers. The beans were hearty and flavorsome (tasted very homemade) and the eggs were well-poached. From what I remember, everything on the menu is under $15 and looked quite appetizing. I highly recommend! Note: during peak lunch hours, it's a bit loud to read or work on your computer, but there is free Wi-Fi for when you need it.

When Clipper first opened on Glebe Point Rd a couple of years ago I remember the animosity it stirred in Glebe's society of cafe owners. "It'll never last," they said. "Sure it might seem nice in winter, but it'll be a sauna come summer." But, as spring followed winter and summer trickled after, the cafe (which had installed heavy duty fans to combat its sunny side of the street) continued to sprawl with customers who couldn't get enough of Clipper's amazing coffee/breakfast/good-looking Scottish owner. Now, a few years on, the cafe is just as sweet as ever. Having clearly found its crowd in Glebe's student population, free wifi lures Sydney Uni students there between classes and netbooks are as common as newspapers on the rubbed-back wooden benches. With bicycles and guitars mounted on the walls, Lonely Planet guides propped on the shelves and various other vintage paraphernalia (Quote Dad to Mum: "Hey Cheryl, doesn't this place look like the Garage Sale we had in '79?"), Clipper is cosy but not cramped, quirky but not too cool and boasts a brekkie menu that steps outside eggs-any-way and makes everything tasty with lashings of berries and ricotta. Whilst you might have to wait a while for a table on weekends, the staff are beatiful (despite the fact the hot-Scot is no longer around) and will recognise your face even if it's been a few months. Do: Try the Bircher museli on a sunny Saturday morning. Don't: Go without cash, expecting to pay on card. But don't worry, there's a handy chalk drawing of the nearest ATM so you don't get lost.

With an intriguing interior design of whites and blues and tables made out of old benches. Clippers cafe with their posters of local artists running up and down the pillars, is a nice spot to meet for a coffee and for a chat. The problem with Clippers is that there are a lot of people that feel that way, given its relaxed environment and proximity to the main campus of Sydney University, it is a hotspot for students and young people to converse, consume and relax. The muffins are a tasty treat and the coffee is nice. I've also enjoyed the milkshakes from here, time and again. There is, however, a cramped feeling inside as the premises are quite confined and the amount of people inside at any one time can make it feel a little claustrophobic, so if you're okay with that then this is the place for you.

Clipper cafe was a word of mouth find. (They are the best kind). I went there with a friend to talk about the work I did with her, and we ended up playing scrabble. The opening hours are 6am-6pm, I wish they were open longer because 6pm is way too early. Coffee is great and food options are simple and amazing. Think avocado and tomato and basil on turkish toast. Actually, there are quite a few menu items with something on toast. There is also a selection of freshly baked little cakes and such, ready for afternoon tea. The cafe doesn't have much seating, so weekends are a little dicey for getting a table. Be prepared to share a massive table, sit on a stool or up against the windows (not bad options, just different). The decor is super cool and its a great place to sit back and just be.

I went into clipper for breakfast fairly early with my family on a Saturday morning. The service was friendly and the coffee was really great! I got lucky and my baked eggs were the pick of the menu (and a generous serving too!) everyone else enjoyed their brekkies but mine was the clear winner. Value for money was spot on.

I ate breakfast here last month on my last morning in Australia and it was the cutest spot! I ordered the banana bread with ricotta, berries and honey - so delicious! I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone and wish I could've visited this place again!

Prices were very reasonable, probably because the cafe is catering to the student crowd at Sydney Uni (the salmon avocado dish was $11).

I've visited now on more than one occasion and the café is continuously striving to perfect their menu offerings. A group of us dined on this day to sample a number of the menu choices. The Grumpy's special of chili scrambled eggs were presented atop sourdough bread and a side of heirloom carrots, a heatlhy and wholesome meal. The winner of the day, and also one recommended to us was the Green Pea Smash with burrata and prosciutto. A great combination of flavours. From the sweets menu, we went for the Fig Brioche, topped with macadamia, honey, ricotta and vanilla ice cream (in place of the regular fairy floss). There were a few fruits topping it and would love to have a few more. The Grumpy's granola and pannacotta is also not only beautiful, but delicious and served with a raspberry pannacotta. Could be a sweet or breakfast ;) The venue also serves the famous cronuts (a mix of a doughnut and croissant, filled with a range of insides like cream, Nutella, caramel and topped with oreos etc. Surprise yourself. The guys at grumpy's are always friendly and hospitable. Make sure you pay them a visit.

I know I was fortunate to get to sample quite a few things from the menu, and I appreciated the stellar service we received, but what really made this stand out was the quality of the ingredients. The bacon, caramel, I don't know what else... shut up... just take my money already... french toast was out of this world. Now, you have to understand, french toast is my most favorite brekkie item in the world, so when I tell you this was the best french toast I have ever had, believe me, it was GOOD. But it doesn't end there, oh no... The coffee was a single origin roast that was smooth and delicious, so I give them big points for making a great flat white (essential to my morning routine). The other items that I sampled, including a quinoa dish with the delightful name of "Birdy Num Num" (kudos to the Peter Sellers' reference, I got it and had a good chuckle), something called "Cinderella's dish" with a poached egg and pumpkin, and a few other items, were all tasty and creative. Did I mention how fresh everything was? It was obvious that this is a place where the food is being made with love and care, I love it when all the details come together. And, of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention what a great time Rufus had. Rufus is a fussy, and hyperactive 15-month-old Mini Doxie. He loved the "puppachino" and the camraderie... In fact, he still hasn't fully recovered from this morning's outing... so that's another yelp of approval for you.
