Disgusting service. Good food.
Yesterday morning I had the displeasure of going to Jean Louis Joseph for breakfast with a couple of friends. When we first got there, we loved the place, checked out the deli, and the staff behind the counter were friendly.
I ordered scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and an extra side of hash browns. My friends both ordered the prosciutto baguette with an extra side of hash browns.
My order came out with four hash browns served on my plate. The waitress said it was scrambled eggs with hash browns, with an extra side of hash browns. Both of my friends had the wrong baguettes sent out- pulled pork instead of prosciutto.
When the right baguettes arrived, one was missing the extra side of hash browns. We told the waitress what had happened, she went and spoke to the kitchen staff, and came back to advise that my friend's hash browns were served on my plate- weird.
I told the waitress we were under the impression that everyone's sides would come on their own plate, as any normal person would expect. Also, when my order came out, I was told that it was scrambled eggs with hash browns and an extra side of hash browns, leaving me under the impression that I didn't need to order extra hash browns, as my meal already came with them. She said she would go and speak to the kitchen again.
She didn't return until I got her attention at which point she bothered to tell me that they weren't going to send out hash browns for my friend. I asked to speak to someone and went inside with her.
She led me to Joanne, and as I was explaining the situation, a man from the kitchen decided to approach. He was extremely rude, looking for a fight and obviously unable to carry out an intelligent conversation. He said I was causing a scene over $4 and that "he couldn't give a shit if I never came back".
I was made to feel like I was in the wrong when it was clearly their mistake with our order- even our original order taker agreed a mistake was made.
He continued to rudely ask if I wanted hash browns or our $4 back- clearly missing the point that it was all about the principle of the matter, that they were the ones who refused to send out my friend's hash browns, and that he was the one who caused the scene.
We opted for the $4 back, as there was no way we were staying there after we were treated so badly.
