My second visit to Dublin and to the Vintage Kitchen. Service: Reservation in advance highly recommended. Dinner only with 5, 7, and 9 pm slots for seating. Booked in the afternoon three hours ahead and secured a counter/bar seating for an early dinner. Not a lot of customers went in for the 5 pm slots. All waiters and waitresses were smiling, friendly, and attentive. Food was served in very timely manner, with each dish served less than one minute after finishing the previous one. Drink: Foxes Rock lager brewed in Ireland. Golden color, malty start with a hoppy finish and an interesting twist of a somewhat toasted after taste. Good beer for summertime. Bread: signature duck liver mousse with fresh toasted bread. Duck mousse kept its standard, not as fatty as foie gras but packed with gamey and rich taste. Wish they had kept the toasted flat bread though, because you could spread much more mousse on those! Starter: House cajun seafood chowder with assorted fish and mussels with Guinness glazed bread. Seafood chowder tasted very nice with spot-on seasoning and texture, not overly hot or thick, packed with peppery and spicy flavor, pleasant and warming to sip. All seafood tasted nice, and I particularly loved the mussels for how little foul taste they had, and that even in such a richly seasoned soup they still maintained their unique briny flavor. The bread was hot and buttery, and it went well with the soup, but I wish its sauce was a a little less thick, for the chowder itself could easily seasone the bread well. Entree: Was hesitating between the haddock and the sea bass, and was recommended the sea bass by the waiter. It certainly did not disappoint, Fish was done nicely with crispy skin, slightly yellow-dark grilled outside, and buttery flakes of fresh texture, The seasoning was spot-on, and the fish fillet went well with the sauce. Mussels were as good as those in the seafood chowder. The grapes and raisins went surprisingly well with the salty samphire and together they brought interesting and refreshing textures after each mouthful of fish. A very well done seafood dish overall. Dessert: Sweet mango pudding with biscotti and ginger crumbs, lemon ice cream, and cherry on top. Pudding has the perfect level of sweetness, milky texture, literally melting in mouth. Lemon ice cream and cherry on top worked together well as a citrusy but not stimulative combo. A feat of sweet and sour flavors! Overall: last time there was a hiccup in that they sent the wrong entree to me, so I gave four stars. This time, five stars no question. This place has great service and good food for a very competitive price compared to other restaurants I've tried in Dublin. It is now top of my must-go list of Dublin!

This was place is quite the gem! I highly Recommend making a reservation. Everything from the decor, the staff, the surrounding, and especially the food were excellent. If I can make any recommendations, the prawn risotto to start, followed by the lamb, and then the mango dessert were all divine. There pre-dinner drinks are quite refreshing as well. If in Dublin for the first time, this is quite the treat to satisfy your palate.

I can't believe how this place has a 4.4 rating! Absolutely fantastic meal and the service was incredible. The reviews are so picky! Yes the portions are incredibly large and almost daunting, but you're being fed. Love it.

I stopped in for lunch and had an amazing experience. I didn't have a reservation, but being solo I was lucky enough to get a seat at the counter which made things even better. The counter gave me a clear sight of the chefs in the kitchen. I was awestruck as I watched them create works of art on plates. And the flavors were even better. I wish I could have tried every dish. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and they served the entire room as if it were a symphony. Chef Sean Drugan has done a great job on assembling his staff and a hidden gem restaurant.

Let me start by saying that the food was outstanding. This was our first night in Dublin, and our wedding anniversary. As I had been searching for a place near our hotel for dinner, yelp led me here. Now the problem--I had been searching for "family dinner" locations- as we have three young kids. This is definitely not a place that I would normally bring kids too--so manage your expectations accordingly. Also, be prepared for a 3-course price-fixed dinner. They did a great job to alter the menu items for the kids, but if I had to do it again, the kids would not have joined us on this trip.

I absolutely adore the food here. Friendly staff and cozy appearance are great bonus factors of this spot. Most importantly: the food is fairly priced and delicious! Amazing

The chowder and the prawns - just get them, you will not be disappointed (would pay a substantial amount of $$ to get the recipes)

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.
