    Breakfast Tacos
    Adam G.

The Village Deli is a B-town staple for breakfast, lunch, or anything in between. We stopped by for brunch recently and enjoyed it. We tried Paxton's Potatoes, breakfast tacos and a pancake with strawberries. The breakfast tacos were alright, but the stars of the show were Paxton's Potatoes and the pancake. The potatoes are topped with sausage gravy, cheese, scrambled eggs and chives. The pancake was probably 10" in diameter and each bite was delicious. One quirky thing to point out is the ceiling in the dining room to the left dips downward like a reverse A frame and the point was right above our table which felt a bit claustrophobic.

The Village Deli is what you'd expect out of an American breakfast/lunch diner restaurant in a college town. The overall ambiance is very casual and relaxed. Prices are a tiny bit on the high side in my opinion, but I have never had a problem with bad service or food quality here. The food does come out relatively quick. Be aware that this place is closed on Tuesdays, so don't come here on those days!

    Fresh fruit and French toast.

Had breakfast here and we were both happy with what we got. The French toast had the option of a fresh fruit topping, which came with a massive portion of strawberries, and the breakfast tacos had an excellent jalapeño & avocado sauce. The staff got us seated quickly, and the food didn't take long to get to us. My only complaint, as is often the case nowadays, is the price. We spent more than expected, but we certainly got good quality items for that cost.

Standard breakfast spot in Bloomington. The BEST home fries I've had yet. VERY flavorful while also being crunchy potatoes! Breakfast croissant didn't really have much cheese. Everything else in general was pretty mid. The best part were the potatoes but nothing outstanding compared to other places. Could find cheaper elsewhere in terms of price

    omelet

First they dont have any physical menus, its all digital. I dont care for that at all when I am eating inside. This place was not very busy at all, which is fine. Some reviews say its always busy and thats just not the case. The ambiance is extremely outdated and their seating is bad for most people. Now for the good is the cornbeef hash. Very tasty but its overpriced and you dont get much of it. The omelet was average at best, looks better than it is. You have to pay for each item in your omelet. Theres a base price and you add from there. I have no liking to that concept at all. The bacon was bacon bits in the omelet which is fine if its actual bacon cooked up and sliced down but seemed to be store bought. All in all theres no way id come back here. The price was $30 for all, seems outrageous right. That includes tip.

An IU staple. Amazing amazing coffee. You have to get the potatoes. They're the best. Sometimes I crave the Paxton potatoes still years later. A must if a you're a student, maybe you're hungover and need breakfast or maybe your parents are in town. Either way you'll leave very happy and full.

I love going here, their pancakes and scrambles are my favorites but you can't go wrong with their breakfast! The coffee is also really good and service is great every time.

For drinks, cocktails (and a few mocktails) and a smaller selection of wine are also available. I wanted to get beer but I was kind of tempted by the cocktails. My first choice was a flight that included a mix of The Tap beers and guest beers, but the waiter came back after taking the order and told me that they could only do flights with their beers but could let me sample the beers I wanted to try, so I did that, and the samples were probably around 2 oz each so I basically got half a flight. After that, I ended up ordering a real flight of their beer. The Tap beers I tried were: Kill the Lights stout (regular and barrel-aged), Tapenator dark lager, Frost Bite winter ale, Nefarious Nectar blonde. Guest beers: Jacob Leinenkugel white mocha stout, Weihanstephaner Hefeweissbier, BrewDog Winter Staycation. Not going to waste space reviewing all of these, but they were all fantastic. I was really grateful that they let me sample so many! And they also have food. The menu isn't huge but does have some variety, and it's not just basic pub food. I had the ahi tuna crunch bowl and it was pretty good! It kind of had the vibe of stuff thrown together in a poke bowl, but it worked and I thought the fish was done really well. Our waiter was wonderful! He was really friendly and just the right amount of attentive. My friend and I stayed for a while talking after we had paid and he didn't rush us out at all. Granted, it was a pretty quiet night. We both really liked the vibe of the place. I would love to be back soon!

So here's how the tap came out: It was a busy Saturday night. Easy to grab a high top, but being over 30 - it's not fun sitting on a bar stool. That's fine. The service - like I said, they were busy. But one of my friends never even got his drink, and he ended up telling the waitress to cancel it because we were already eating our fries. The fries - - 4 dipping sauces equals 5 stars! Love the ability to try different flavors and find your fav. My fav is the pesto aioli because its unique! I give the seasoning 4 stars, and it was a little heavy handed, and kind of overpowered the sauces. Texture was good, some were a lil soggy, overall they were good! I've had the other food at the tap, and always enjoyed myself. Definitely worth a visit - but be prepared if they're super slammed!

The staff is consistently excellent, and Tyler at the bar is one of our favorites--always welcoming and on point. Great food, great atmosphere, and genuinely great people. Other guests were frustrated with the poor planning and left, but we stuck it out because the weather was bad and, well, we figured a reservation should actually mean something. I would rather go somewhere else. We won't be back.
