This was my second visit to The Varsity, and the first to this location. My previous visit was at the Atlanta airport. This location is set back off the main road in Norcross and was not busy at all. Despite not being busy, they struggled with cook times. They had chili dogs premade, but nobody was ordering them. We had to wait for one of our burgers and one of our fries. Our cashier also wasn't very friendly - he and the rest of the staff just seemed over it. I get having a catchphrase you repeat to every customer, but make it audible and ask follow up questions - our cashier had zero personality. The restaurant was clean and there was a staff member cleaning tables as well. The decor was aesthetically pleasing. Nothing to complain about food-wise. Tucked away in the heart of Norcross is this beautiful and amazing historic Georgia icon. Of all the past times I've eaten here, the food always remains consistent and delicious as ever. The service is always excellent and quick. The food is always cooked to perfection. The interior is always clean and I just love how it has a nice retro 50s style look and feel. Stopped by The Varsity in Norcross and got the 2 chili dog combo. Overall, it was alright. The chili dogs were what you'd expect--nothing amazing, but decent if you're in the mood. Have always loved the food but have not been in awhile. Went for lunch on a weekday, maybe 10 people in there so not busy. Mustard was on side of bun, not on the chili and dog and the Varsity Orange was so frozen it would have taken hours for it to thaw. Spent over $8 on one sloppily made hot dog and an undrinkable drink. I left hungry, $8 poorer and amazed at kids today who could care less about quality. read more

Stopped here when I was nearby for a funeral. I was born in Atlanta and went to the downtown location as a child. It was one of the few things I would eat back then...always a burger and the orange frost. After moving away, whenever I was anywhere close, I would stop in. As an adult, my favorite is the chili hot dog. Still like the burger. This was the first time in this location. There was plenty of parking and the dining area was clean. It was not a busy time so no problem with service and received the food quickly. It was hot and fresh. The decor is similar to the other location but nicer as it is much newer. Love the famous " what ya have" on the window. I will return if I am ever in the area again. read more

Frozen disappointment after hearing so much about Varsity and "FO" frosty orange shakes. Mine was a Frozen Solid shake clearly previously made and placed in the dark deep freeze. I have always loved the varsity especially growing up in the city and being an ATLien. My favorite has been this meal here. Two naked dogs and a frosted orange (minus my onion rings which I totally forgot until just now lol. It's a staple and I was shocked to see it in Gwinnett but I gave it a try on one of my breaks. Absolutely amazing as I always remembered it to be. I cannot forget the welcoming smiles and faces ss I walked inside and was asked the famous "WHAT'LL YOU HAVEEEE?" I Stan the varsity! The place was clean, and well sized. Not too cluttered or compact and had an array of tables and tvs to dine and enjoy some entertainment as well. Now that I know where it is I'll be back for more! I tried The Varsity after many recommendations I've received. I really wanted to like this restaurant, however they have a lot of room for improvement. This specific location was easy to find. There is a drive thru or you can park and go inside to eat. I ordered the cheese burger, fries, and a hot dog. All of which were not good. The quality of the burger looked concerning to me. The fries were very soggy and did not seem fresh. I don't have much to say about the hot dog as I could not finish it. The service was okay as I just ordered in the drive thru. read more

This place is iconic and yes for what it is kind of expensive, but it is five star. I got the peach pie, the orange frozen drink, and a chili, hot dog. The person who rang it was rude and didn't pay attention to my order. The person that was helping him was a lot nicer. They should have a nicer person doing the register and the other guy helping. Not the other way around. They're both African-American. The short one was the rear cashier, and the very tall one was friendly and helpful. Actually, they could just get rid of the shoulder guy completely because he was hurt. I heard about this place a few times but people talked about the food truck more , any who i went yesterday after getting my baby from daycare i stopped in by the drive thru to order an i only wanted a few things to try one was the BLT sandwich, chicken nuggets and fries which all were sold separately the BLT didn't have a combo Anywho the sandwich was toasted bread with a lot of lettuce two pieces of tomato and maybe 2-3 pieces of bacon. Drive thru order and first time here. I wasn't impressed, but I guess that's because I don't eat a lot. They didn't have a single meat cheeseburger meal, so I had to pay separately for all the items. The fries were great, the burger was the size of a kids, and they had onions in tissue paper. I don't eat onions, so that was a waste. I had a lemonade for the drink. I always love The Varsity. It's an old historical place that been around since the 20s. Got to be a good reason a restaurant like this stays in operation for so long. I've been going to the original Varsity in Atlanta since childhood, and it has always been a staple for me. Unfortunately, my visit to this location was incredibly disappointing. The food was lackluster--far from the fresh, flavorful experience I remember--and the staff seemed completely disengaged, as if they'd rather be anywhere else. Having been to the main varsity location near the aquarium before, I was disappointed that it was closed inside and that is half the experience when eating at the varsity. The next dissapointment was the quality of the food it just wasn't great. It just doesn't taste the same. This is a great place. The food is good but It's a lot of old people inside that are friendly and helpful. I saw an old man fell and old people came on helping him up. The don't have a lot of drinks to choose but that's okay. They also serve a lot of fries and the burgers are good. I despise the fries because it's skin on them but they are good and the burger had black stuff on it... But all in the end. My stomach was hurting but the food was great. I thought it was weird, their pickles were diced and on the side for me to add on. meh! The Fries were okay, it wasn't hot out of the fryer so it wasn't great. ***advice to management: Your staff seemed to be catering towards picky eaters that like to eat plain hamburgers (meat, bun and ketchup on the side), that's like having no opinion. It's not bad but then it's not good either. I would recommend you have a standard varsity burger as your #1, like the Big Mac, Whopper, or Cheeseburger All-The-Way (Five Guys). This one doesn't quite have the historical mystique of the downtown location, but it's much easier to get in and out of! Enjoyed the burger, chili dog and fries, which were plenty to share with my wife. Varsity orange is good. Frosted orange is even better in the summer heat. Love the fried pies! The sweet potato seasonal one is out of sight in my book! I also enjoy the peach-flavored sweet tea option they offer! Plenty of parking. Real close to 85. read more
