I got the Italian beef dipped sandwich combo with fries and a can soda. I asked the cashier which kind of grape soda do they have it was a crush soda after that I asked him do they have a RC because it's listed also. I visited on 12-30-2025 the food didn't take a long time to come out. The flavor and taste is delicious no complaints. Definitely worth the trip not a disappointment. Lived in lilburn for over 12 years. Ive seen this location and passed by it countless times. I finally went by to give it a try. Came on here to see what reviewers likes. I've only ordered from here a couple of times in the past few years, once recently, but this is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I love Italian beefs, and Baby Al's does a great job. So far, I've tried their Chicago dog, Maxwell Street Polish, cheese fries, the Italian beef with cheese (dipped) w/ hot and sweet peppers, and of course, mild sauce on the side for my fries or whatever else (which not every Chicago eatery outside Chicago has). I have not tried Fingerz or Rickettes yet, but for the main sandwich staples, I prefer Baby Al's over Skip's so far. The portions are great, and everything I've ordered has been fresh and flavorful every time. I definitely recommend this place for an Italian beef or Chicago dog. I found out about this restaurant from a young lady that I met earlier in the day. She told me that if I wanted Chicago style food that was good to check out baby Al's. They have everything you maybe missing from Chicago, Maxwell street polish, hot dogs, cheese burgers, pizza puffs, mild sauce and of course Italian beef sandwiches just to name a few of the items. First I would like to say that they have very good customer service. I was greeted when I walked in by the young lady at the front counter. It did not take them long at all to complete my order. Each order is made fresh. I tried the Italian beef. It was good. I was told owner makes it himself and does not buy the beef from like a whole restaurant supplier. The double cheeseburger is excellent, reminds me of the old fashioned, hand-made burgers you used to get at the local dairy delight. They do a good job with the Chicago dog and Italian beef too. I prefer the dry version of the Italian beef with the sauce on the side for dipping, otherwise it can be real messy. I went to this place for the first time on 11/20/24 and got 4 Italian beef's, 1 Maxwell polish and a pizza puff. My family is from Chicago and they wanted a beef sandwich. The Maxwell polish was better than the beef sandwich. While I was there I noticed they had daily specials. One of them being $2 tacos on Thursday. So the very next day I made a delivery right across the street. I was like perfect I'll go try these $2 tacos. I go in there and said give me 5 tacos. The lady said it only comes with meat and lettuce, would you like to add cheese and tomato's and I said sure. She gave me my total and I was a little sticker shocked when she said $17.39. I'm like how did I go from $10 to $17.39. I didn't say anything and just went ahead and purchased my lunch. Once I got to the car I noticed they charged me $3.75 for cheese and $2.50 for my tomato's. I opened my first taco and was like where's the cheese. There was like 5 shreds of cheese on there and even less on the other tacos. If I pay for cheese I expect to see cheese, especially for $3.75 for 5 mini tacos. This to me is what I call bad business. I would have came to this place time and time again, but one bad experience killed any future visits my family and myself would have done with this place. Fool me once it's on you fool me twice and it's on me. You won't get that chance to fool me again. Enjoy the $3.75 in profit because it's the last dime I'll spend with you. read more

I moved to Atlanta 8 years ago from Chicago and have been looking for a good Chicago food place. Occasionally I'll find a spot that does Chicago Dogs that is decent, or there's a spot that does Chicago style wings. But this is the first place that truly takes me back to Chicago. It's a really small setup with only 3 tables. The idea is that most people will just order to go. But I like to sit down and enjoy the food right when it's made. Both times I've come I ordered the same thing: a Chicago dog, an Italian beef dipped with hot peppers, and Chicago style wing dings. I won't bore you with a dish by dish breakdown; just know that everything has been great and I'll definitely keep coming! If you're from Chicago and want a taste of home this is your spot. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! The owners (a couple) were sooo sweet and nice. Very patient and was helping us to decide what to eat and the food was delicious!! Good old yelp came through and showed us this place, so we drove our happy butts over. I admit, it's located in a random spot that I barely drive through. Looks kinda empty, but whatever. I'm here for food. The restaurant is very small. Only two tables, two chairs each. I believe this place was meant for pick-ups, but we wanted to eat in for the full experience and the owners were so nice and had conversations with us. The wife suggested we try the Italian Beef Sandwich, which the whole sandwich, including the bread, is dipped into the au jus sauce. I HATE SOGGY BREAD. All caps, that's how much I hate it. She offered to only dip the meat, but I wanted to eat it how it was supposed to be eaten. So I got the whole sandwich dipped and OMGAWD. DELICIOUS! I can't even begin to explain how I fell in love with this sandwich. Thinking about it is making my mouth produce saliva. Haha. Looking for a quick dinner up in Norcross, I was excited to see a highly-rated place on the Yelp app for Chicago-style dogs. Finding a great "garden on a bun" can be tough in the South. Unfortunately, our hot dogs were so-so. The ingredients on the Chicago dog seemed a little tired - the tomatoes in particular were well past their prime. The cole slaw on the slaw dog was much too sweet, and the chili cheese dog was a complete mess. And who from the Midwest puts jalapenos in their chili? Even the hot dogs themselves were overcooked and a little tough. Just really average food. All of you folks who gave them 5 stars need to get up to the Windy City once in a while to get some perspective! read more

No nonsense, to-the-point, and pretty good. I don't claim to be a Chicago-food expert, but I have had my fair share of Italian beef while traveling in and around Chicago over the years. That being said, I am always on the lookout around Atlanta for an Italian beef that reminds me of Chicago without actually having to go there. We all know Skip's is around, and there are a few other little stands here-and-there that sometimes tickle that spot, but today we needed something a little different. While on a mission for work, we scouted the area for possible places to eat and low-and-behold, there is a Chicago eatery on the way! Awesome. Don't be fooled by the low-rent neighbors here as this stand is about the food... not the window tint place next door. As soon as I walked in, I knew that I wanted the nastiest, sopping'est, Eyetalian beef that was available from this place. The owner/operator was informative about his style of cooking, which won a special place in my heart (and in my gut). He was telling us about how he does everything in-house, and how his no nonsense approach is what makes him so popular around this area. It is much appreciated. When the beefs came out, it was a sight to behold. That little gut-bomb of sweet and hot giardiniera sopping with au jus from all those beef drippings. It's about the best Chicago experience I've had in the Atlanta area... yes, even better than Skip's. While it might not be Al's or Pete's in Chicago, I think it's the next best thing with no BS. This is the only italian beef locaton near me. We tried the chicago dog, wet italian beef, and "buffed up" to a combo (fries and drink). The highlight was the fresh cut & perfectly fried fries. Chicago dog & italian beef weren't bad, but i could come back just for the fries. I will return to try the pork chop sandwich (Fri/Sat only), and fried fish. I saw 3 meals ordered & everything was made to order (so expect to wait 10 minutes or so for anything fried). Also im guessing they don't use much salt in the italian beef juice because it was slightly bland, and he said the fries aren't salted. read more

For what it is (a chicago style hot dog shop hole in the wall) it is maybe one of two or three places in the Atlanta area I'd say actually deserve five stars. Maybe this review is premature, as I have only tried the dipped italian beef sandwiches, but they taste like they are from Chicago. The quality is enough for me to go back for those alone. My family tells me the dogs are spot on, too. No one here is going to imitate a real place like Jean and Judes (Oak Park), but this is as good as you're going to get for an Italian beef. I came here with my friend who is a born-and-bred Chicagoan through and through, and he gives Baby Al's a massive thumbs up. No relation to the actual Al's Italian, by the way...Al is just a name in the family! My friend is into the dipped Italian beef, but for me, it just gets too soggy to enjoy as a sandwich. I will say, though, that pizza puffs are a novelty to me ("no, they're not like Hot Pockets," said the owner and my friend), and I thoroughly enjoyed that more than the Italian beef. I imagine that most folks from Chicago would like to smack me up the head for saying that. With that being said, though, the flavor of the Italian beef is good, especially with the peppers. I just think that as a whole, dipped Italian beef isn't my jam. But, the folks working here are super friendly, and everything is made to order. Reviews looked good and aside from relying on Apple Maps to get me there (which didn't) - had to turn around - hint: it's in the Indian Trail Shopping Center just down from the NAPA Auto parts and Leslie's Pool Supplies. Had two Chicago dogs and fries. Fresh cut fries were a bit over done but still very good. Dogs were great and everything seemed fresh. People were very friendly and seemed happy to see me. Favorite food is Hot Dogs. Worst food is hot dogs with soggy buns. (Vomit)! So I called in a to go order. 12 hot dogs grills, so the buns would not be soggy. Great Chicago style dogs! My wife and I both got the #1 combo (2 Chicago style dogs with small fries and drink). I opted for a large fry not knowing the size but the small would've been good. And next time I'll also order just one hot dog instead of two. The fries were great but probably would've tasted better if we hadn't taken the food to go. But they were still fantastic.
