They partner with Yellow Freight which brings the cost to half of what other shippers charge (who use various mail services). When Yellow Freight forgot to scan the four handmade box crates in Chicago (apparently quite unusual) and we weren't sure where they were, Scott offered to call Yellow Freight and described the crates so that could be more easily found. Everything arrived in perfect order and the boxes & inserts that Scott made were amazing. This is a family business, run by Scott and his wife, and they care about what they do. It shows.

I walked around the store, saw their huge printing operation and inventory of office supplies stocked on shelves and racks -this is a very cool place to do business in or browse around. For how small the post office is, it actually has all the amenities and services of any other post office. They have self-service machines in the vestibule for packages and large drop boxes, so you can avoid the line or complete your post office needs in off-hours. Service is actually fantastic; everyone I've interacted with have been super friendly. I was hesitant to go to this post office because of potential parking issues, but I found out that they actually have a lot behind the building.

If you are ordering something expensive from outside the US, ensure it is not delivered by this location. Per customs the item contents and amount has to be declared on the label.

This is a very convenient location if you're in West Hartford, they also have plenty of parking available. It of course depends on when you're going, if it'll be a long wait or a quick and easy run. Most of the time if I'm mailing a package within the US, it's a very quick and painless process, but If it's an international package, they'll want me to get out of line to fill out a customs form, then come back to the counter. Meanwhile all the people in line are looking at me as if I'm getting special treatment. Try to avoid purchasing boxes or padded envelopes at the post office, these are significantly overpriced, and they can be found at many other places at a much lower cost. I can't say the lady I encountered working there today was the most pleasant, she said to me "so many people here give me anxiety.." I'm not sure how to react to this, post offices are very busy and people can get moody. This is a post office, you can get your passport here and you can purchase stamps. It serves its purpose, some packages are very expensive to mail out, but I can't blame the post office for that.
