Convenient location with a pretty standard Staples layout. The store is pretty clean and organized whenever I stop in. I love the convenience of emailing them a document and they can print it out, a lot easier than trying to download things on to a memory stick or something. It's back to school season, if you're a teacher or a student, you must have stepped into Staples within the past week. I was just at Staples to use their printing service. If you need color printing, or laminating, or large posters printed that can all be done here. You can bring what you need printed on a flash drive, then it's all pretty straight forward from there. My prints always come out in rich vibrant colors, on high quality paper. Each sheet was .88 cents, since I printed on A4 sized sheets. Of course printing on larger paper will cost you significantly more. My classroom will be vibrant and the kids will easily identify where everything belongs. In addition to their printing service, you can also purchase anything and everything for your classroom or your office at Staples. The prices may not be the best, but this is the best season to get all your office supplies at Staples. They have desks, computers, office chairs, and so much more! read more

Today's visit was to get my TSA Pre check certification. It only takes 5 minutes, and the gentleman taking my info was very professional. They allow you to be late up to 15 minutes, or you'll have to reschedule. There were women ahead of me, but since my appt was for 10:30, he took me in first. Pre check is good for 5 years, and if you're an international traveler, another $15 gets you the global status. Kinda wish I did that instead. read more

I use the Staples in my home town 90% of the time. But once in a while, we stop at the Staples in Bishops Corner in West Hartford. Today we stopped to use the color copy machine. This review is why over due!!! The West Hartford location does not get enough credit for the superior service I witness while in the store towards customers and from personal on going experience. An associate always greets and ask for assistance. In the recent months I have been using them directly for all my printing and marketing projects. Liz manages the department and Malik has assisted me several times and I don't think many people who their appreciation. Every time I have been there they do their best to be attentive and practice patience, maintains professionalism and composure. Customers can be very demanding, rude and want instant gratification and have been rude. I often feel sorry of the behaviors from customers while I am in line waiting to be assisted. The worst is when the client in front of me waiting complains to me like I'm suppose to join the party and be just as irritated. But I don't. The customer service industry is demanding and I hope that when some decided to quickly write a review that is negative steps back and realize honey gets you so much further. The Staples printing team and the store manager with short blond hair are kind and provide exceptional service. I know use them to print all my business materials. I once needed a project done in a very short time frame in a matter of an hour and they made it happen for me because I expressed the importance. After a very poor customer service experience at Glastonbury i decided to call the west Hartford location to see if i would get some help beyond "you have to have the design in your email" (for business cards). I called print & marketing (in west hartford) , shared the nightmare i had at Glastonbury with Alyssa. She was so awesome! very understanding and even invited me to their location to help my situation. When i arrived i was so impressed ! i met Mike the manager there and he shared his sympathy with me but then not only helped me get my order right. He also guided me through the mobile app and helped me save some rewards points for the next visit. Poor service, unreliable, they do not stand behind their product. I was told my computer needed a battery, so I bought one and brought it in for them to change. After waiting for quite a while. The technician told me the battery did not work, despite the fact that it was an brand new battery. I told him to put the old battery back in since I needed to use the computer and I would just plug it in. I left the store and returned later to have the new technician told me the computer didn't work I said when I brought it in it worked and the assistant manager said well it's your word against his. The long and the short of it is, I had to take it to a computer specialist who said it was the motherboard . So the technician did something to the motherboard in the process of putting in the battery. I had to wait 10 days to have that ordered and put in and then all my data had to be retrieved and put back on the computer All to the tune of $404.14. Today I went in to get a refund spoke to three different people. The general manager basically finally said no that he was not in the position of refunding any money, and that the motherboard was probably broken when I brought it in of course, that was not the case . It would not have worked if it was broken . he had said so many things, illogical, and contradictory. The irony is I have done business with Staples for many years and had bought computers in the past, and this one was only 2 1/2 years old. I've taken this to corporate and we'll see what happens. I'm sincerely hoping they refund my money to keep good public relations and integrity. Bottom line do not buy computers from Staples and think they will stand by their product and never bring your computer in to have the battery changed. And after I came up, I came to pick up the computer after the old battery was installed. That individual said oh no, we should never have them open the back of a computer because you don't know what might happen. You need to take it to a computer specialist. However, the general manager said oh no, we change batteries all the time and don't have a problem. read more

I had no idea Staples fixed broken phone screens but I found out on a recent Sunday, after I made that little crack on my wife's iphone 7 turn into a full blown mess of shattered glass. I had previously bookmarked a local phone fixer here on Yelp but when I turned to them I discovered they are rolled into a bigger company that no longer serves West Hartford. I searched Yelp further but the closest I could find was a place on the Berlin Turnpike with solid reviews (including one, word of mouth, from a friend who is a non-Yelper). I needed something closer though so my trusty Neighbors and Friends FB page for WH said Staples did a great job. We called when they opened, made sure they were able to take care of her phone model and headed over. The cost was $129 to replace the screen. The guy even gave my wife several coupons that took the cost down about $20 and he added a screen cover (liquid armor) to it. He offered to put the extra (complimentary) screen cover on mine too but I passed. We've had iphones for years and, knock on wood, never used the pricey insurance offered by Verizon so it's full on karma that since we passed on the insurance for our current iphones, it makes complete sense that one of our screens broke. I'm very glad to know there's a place in town that will replace the screen (and batteries and more) for a decent price. Thanks Staples! read more

Yeah, we've got that I happen to be in another state when I realized I was desperately in need of some printer ink. What to do and where to go? To Staples of course. Staples has over 2,000 stores in 26 countries so I figured there had to be one around somewhere fairly close. And sure enough there was one lurking literally around the corner. This store is pretty much exactly like every other Staples I've been in. Filled with all kinds of sundry stuff from printer ink to toilet paper to junk food. Seems the stores keep diversifying and are far more than just office supplies now. We went in the Staples and within a few minutes walked out with the required printer ink. Staples no longer uses the "Yeah, we've got that" slogan, replaced it with "That was easy. But it you need something to do with an office, school or home, chances are they will have it. read more

I stopped in here the other day to mail off a package. Its a pretty standard Staples. The reason I decided to Yelp about a place everyone knows about was the Copy/Print/Ship staff. They had a bit of a line, both at the cash register and at the CPS center. Despite this, they did a great job at juggling customers, being polite and not making you feel like you were getting in the way of what would be a great job, if customers would just stop coming in. Stopped into staples for label maker tape and to use the pack and ship center. First I went looking for label maker tape. Couldn't find it. Found an associate and asked, she gave me the wrong aisle number. Found them finally and the package was literally double what it would have cost on Amazon. That's what I get for needing it right away I guess? $24.99 at Staples and $12.99 on Amazon. Whatever. So I went to the register to pay and I couldn't get through because there was a guy who was blocking the aisle to get to the register by restocking the shelves. Whatever. I went around and went to the one register with a light on and the guy said "I'm not open" so I had to back up and go to another. I told the guy "sorry, his light was on" and he made a passive aggressive comment about how the one with the light on was his until the other guy took it. Then the other guy said no because he'd marked it with his sour patch kids. Seriously? I then clicked email receipt and it printed one anyway. Then I went to the pack and shop place where my partner was. They'd packed it and he was filling in the address part. The woman we very helpful but she ended up having trouble getting the payment slip to print. Then while that was happening a guy was trying to print something on his own and the printer wasn't working and he kept distracting her. Finally able to check out and although we again clicked email it still printed a receipt. Overall a pretty miserable experience with subpar service (but the woman at pack and shop was great). I visited this location to complete the TSA application. Upon entering the lady (employee) had a rigid and mean Demeanor. As diagnosed with a disability I asked the employee to use a chair during the process. The STAPLES employee STATED "no." Then stateD "you won't be standing long.", making assumptions about my disability. During my time there I had to push my back against the well to aid my back issue. I remained quiet during the process due to her ride and condescending behavior towards me. I think it would help if the STAPLES employees receive a refresher on customer service, providing services to minority customers and disabled customers. Under the law there is a group of protected class of people that I fall under. And I would hope this does not happen to another customer. read more

6:30 at night and the copy center has 1 person working. 4 people are needing help. He is doing a great job juggling and trying to help everyone and still being pleasant and friendly. Tried doing self copy of 40 color pages.... computer started a reboot in the middle..... I hope it doesn't charge my credit card.... because it couldn't print a receipt. When I tried to ask the Store Manager is someone else could help out.... he said we only have 1 person scheduled there right now. And he returned to restacking Dunkin Donuts Boxes. Typical staples. I noticed very mixed reviews for this place, so I'm guessing there's some inconsistency in service, but I've always lucked out. I also try to early or late, when it won't be very busy, so perhaps that helps. Today I went to print some documents and then rescan them, as my home printer is broken. Brittnay (spelled that way on her name tag) was very helpful at the print desk, showing me how to use the self-print kiosk and then taking care of the scanning for me. The cashiers were friendly as well (I purchased a few items on my way out, being the office supply junkie that I am), and even told me about a $5.00 coupon I could get. I did notice that the second cashier forgot to ask for my staples rewards card, and I forgot to offer it, so that's too bad. Not that I ever get enough points to really stack up to much. Staples in general has god quality stuff (I swear by their binders, despite the higher price point), and although I usually order online these days, because the Staples delivery service is fantastic, it's nice to go into the store and get quick, friendly, helpful service in a pinch. read more

I always come to this location for all of my printing needs. Mostly, I use the self service kiosk (print me). Like usual, I always pay for card stock to print out my designs. Today, I was turned away and was told it was against store policy to receive card stock for self service printing and that I would have to buy my own paper. I've been receiving this service for a year and now, today, you tell me it's against store policy?! The older woman behind the counter like most times when I am there, is always annoyed and has an attitude when speaking to customers. So looks like I'll be taking my business to Fedex Kinkos. I don't normally do this but this was s very important that I needed done and was disappointed with the service I received, I put in an order for business cards and flyers I received the confirmation and was told that they would be ready same day , a couple hours later received a call telling me that they had to send them out that they would be ready in two days , I went to the store two days later and they tell me that they will be here soon I came back 6 hours later and they tell me the same I came back the next day and they tell me the same it's on the way I came back the next day same thing I call the next day and they tell me that they won't be ready for a couple of days, never come here I put in the same order in the staples in Glastonbury ct and was able to pick up what I ordered same day . So it's not staples as a company that I'm complaining about it's the store on Albany ave in west Hartford that doesn't care about there customers and I will never go there again. read more

I go to Staples very often, especially since the pandemic started because we have all been working from home/learning on-line. The associates are always very helpful with all my printing needs, and I always have a good experience at this store. I had a especially great experience this past Thursday, December 24, which is my son's birthday. For my son's birthday, we bought a second monitor for his gaming PC. My son tried to connect both the new monitor and the old monitor using USB ports and that didn't work. He was very disappointed, and I didn't know how to help him. I bought a cable that I thought would work to connect one monitor to a different port at Staples on-line. An hour later, when I went to pick it up, I was lucky that Trey (the associate at the register) was there. I mentioned to Trey the story of my son's new monitor. Trey took the time to listen to me and then counseled me on getting a different cable, because the one I had purchased on-line would not work (he explained why). He went to the appropriate aisle himself, and brought me the last display cable that the store had. He then took the time to process the return of the cable I had purchased on-line and charged me for the display cable (before he did so, Trey gave me a heads up that the new cable I was buying from the store was a lot more expensive than the one I had purchased on-line, which I appreciated). Through this whole process, Trey was extremely nice, professional, helpful, and patient (all this during a very busy time at the store). I came home and the cable worked perfectly. It's time I transitioned...even the Staples Rewards program can no longer keep me there...I AM TIRED OF POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. And they wonder why their East Hartford location closed...it was the RUDE Managers...and even though I don't see the same Managers in West Hartford...their PERSONALITY rolled over there. I went in to the Copy Center and asked them if they could laminate ONE SHEET for me and was told by them AND THE MANAGER - they are swamped...are you kidding? Now, trust, I do get it if over the course of the day 20 people walked in with the same request, however, isn't this why you are in business...to make money? WHERE is it WRITTEN that IF WE GET SWAMPED WE CANNOT ASSIST CUSTOMERS? So much for THAT WAS EASY...you can remove that from your business motto. Everybody just working for paychecks these days...no etiquette, no compassion, no loyalty...just a check...just remember though, if you start sending customers to your competitors (OfficeMax, FedEx Kinko's etc.)...there will be no paychecks AND if your stores start merging, your job may be on the line...so the next time a customer has a request of a store THAT IS STILL OPEN, think twice before you tell them you are SWAMPED aka I WANT TO GO HOME AND NOT STAY HERE LATE TAKING CARE OF CUSTOMERS... The sales associates aren't rude, they just seem very disinterested in their job and do put in any extra effort to help me out. Call staples to ask a simple question about printing face fans for an upcoming event, first thing: they had me on hold for 13:45 seconds, LIKE REALLLY?!?!? and the woman on the phone in printing was so rude and short with me. In the middle of the sentence she cut me off without hearing the rest of what I had to say. She was not helpful AT ALL in regards to their printing sizes and prices. No customer should have to wait on hold that long or be treated that way. It might be simple to them but its a big deal because I planned on doing business with them and spending my money there. I have been at this store twice this week for school supplies as I work for a non profit. The staff are great and very friendly and helpful. So this is more about management at the corporate level. I saw a Arlo 2 with two cameras in it on sale for $251. I had just had a scary incident at my home so I have been researching brands and they were given a very good rating. There was an entire display set up in the middle of the store along with other brands. It said to bring the box to an associate and they would help me. I did. The person was very nice and really tried to help. She said she would look to see if they had it in stock. When she came back, she asked me where I had gotten the box as if she were surprised I found one. I thought it was a bit strange so I told her they had a whole display set up! She then told me they were not going to be filling that brand anymore, but said she would check to see if any other stores had them in stock although she doubted it. The only one she found that had one was Shelton. I said I might be back but didn't want to wait a week for it. She said she could order it online but it would be a week as well. She was very nice. However, when I was there again yesterday, I still found the display up which I was surprised about, and a young associate asked if I needed help. I said yes, I've decided I would like to get this and explained how I had just been in there. He said he would see if the person I had talked to was there. She was, and when I told her I decided I wanted it and I would wait the week, she told me that Shelton's was actually a damaged one. I said, okay, then I would like to order it. She said she could not do that as they are not ordering them anymore. It seemed she didn't really want to talk to me further about it. I finally said, well, I don't understand, you have a display of all of them. She said she could order one for $251 but it would be one with only one camera. I then said, hmmm, I think that might be false advertising then. How can you still have the display up if that's the case? and she said, "I've not been told I can take it down yet." I can't imagine that this is legal, but I guess I am wrong. It seems to me I should be able to get one ordered and sent to me for the $251 it states. Customer Service at the copy center has never been good for me. For whatever reason, there is always a line. Sometimes it's just me standing there and they see me and don't come over. It's very awkward. Always looks like they are crazy busy but I don't know, I've come there at different times of the day and it's always the same experience. Today I called ahead to get some of my questions answered to maybe avoid the awkwardness in store. I thought my questions were answered until I got there and was told different things. I was so frustrated that I just left the store and downloaded the Fedex Office app in my car in the parking lot and ordered my copying needs from the fedex in hartford.
