I visited this store this morning. My package that had to be returned to Amazon was not sealed and my label was not affixed as I didn't have packing tape at home. I entered the store and the person working at the time, who was in the back, immediately came to the front counter and greeted me. Before I could even ask for tape or help, he graciously said, "I can take care of that for you." I was pleasantly stunned, said, "Thank You," and left. My entire transaction took about 1 minute of my time and it was a great overall experience. I will certainly use this store again. This store has an AMAZING staff with the exception of the store manager. He's a bald ride guy with glasses who doesn't wear his name tag often so u can't remember his name but i literally cringe anytime he has to wait on me. He's so rude and he's not self aware at all. He has NO MANNERS! I was shocked that he was the manager. They need to make Jim the Asst manager the actual anger. He is everything phenomenal that you could expect or want in a leader. He's always consistent in his amazing customer service n kindness unlike his counterpart. I really wish the manager would go into therapy, manager training or another job! He's HORRIBLE. The worst. I came here with a fairly large amazon package to return. I had a label to return it and these guys tried charging me $80 minimum for them to put together 2 boxes to send it out. I'm not unreasonable I work for a company that ships items out and we've had to build boxes before but nothing I've had to ship has used $80 worth of boxes (and the return label was paid for by the company I wed sending the package to so it's not like it was $80 shipping it was $80 to put together 2 boxes). I went to this store to return an item to Amazon. I needed a new envelope to put the original item in because the old envelope couldn't fit. From the Amazon return policy and as an Amazon Prime member, I only needed to bring the original item to a local UPS store and they will pack, label and ship it back to Amazon for me for free of charge. However, this store wanted to charge me the new envelope to ship the item back. So I was standing there trying to fit the item back in the original envelope. There was no other customer in the store at the time and the employee was very nice to offer me help. After trying hard, I managed to put the item back to the original envelope!!! However, without making any eyes contact, the manager of the store came out to talk to me with his extremely upset face. He said normally they would charge $10 for packing plus the cost for the new envelope. I told him about the Amazon return policy for returning the item and he just ignored it. Amazon pays UPS to take care of the returns for their customers. So what happened with this store???? They took the money but didn't honor the return service???! I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE TREATING THEIR CUSTOMERS AS RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL AS THE MANAGER OF THIS STORE!!! I'll NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN! LESSON LEARNED!!!! read more

This is a great UPS store. The staff is very friendly, and work quickly with each customer. I came in early today, and I asked about a package that was supposed to be sent to the office. The guy behind the front desk said to come in the afternoon, which is when the truck comes to unload the packages. I came in the afternoon, and I got the package, and it was nicely sealed. November 10th 2006 my mother shipped a Sony HDTV to me. It arrived a plastic box of broken glass. The packing and shipping had been done by the UPS store #4925 In Spotswood. They claim it wasn't their fault, but let me tell you there was a ton of empty space in that crate when it got to me. Do they not have any idea that packing peanuts shift with a heavy item? Never the less, UPS claimed responsibility for the damage and agreed to pay our claim. Now it is January 22, 2007 and we still have heard nothing from the UPS store or UPS. Every time we call the UPS store in Spotswood they say, "The claim has been filed, it just takes time." "How much time?" "We have no idea." When I call UPS they say, "You have to call the shipper, we're not the UPS store." Funny, they use the UPS name. Perhaps I'll start using the name "UPS Place" for my business! The business will be me throwing their items down flights of stairs! WEEE! So today I speak with Heather Nelson at UPS customer service and she has the audacity to say, "The reason it's taking so long is that it's over $1000." When I asked why the dollar amount had anything to do with how fast they paid a claim, she had no response. They charged me based on a dollar amount but now feel it's OK to just wait? Why do I feel the dollar amount is a higher percent of my annual net income than it is to their's. Is it listed in their policy, "Oh if we owe you a lot of money, it's going to take a really long time."? The UPS store says they call every week, UPS says they've only recently heard from them. I think they're both lying. I don't know how FedEx would behave in this case, because they've never broken anything I've shipped. I ship a lot of music gear on ebay and I've never had a single problem. USPS is good too. I'll never use UPS again and avoid on line retailers that use them. read more

Your experience depends entirely on your attendant. God help you if its Bill. On multiple occasions he has attached the wrong address to my packages (sometimes I've caught it ahead of time, other times not). He leaves customers standing for minutes upon minutes with no updates or communication (what is he doing back there?). You're better off avoiding the place when he's on duty. I cannot say enough good things about the extra efforts the team at this store has done. If you've ever tried to get a human at ups corporate you can appreciate the extra touch these stores provide. I had a shipment literally toggling between 2 locations, unable it seems to be delivered. The store manager broke through all the ups BS and got hold of the shipment. I am in Iowa and was purchasing a curio cabinet from a seller on Ebay in NJ. I called this UPS store and worked with AJ to get a price on them packing and shipping this one of a kind cabinet . AJ went above and beyond to help me get this done! The package arrived and I found the curio packed super well and was in perfect condition after the long trip ! I hadn't been there for some time and it was apparent there were new owners. Not a good experience since they had bought the franchise the first time. I have been a retail musical instrument and pro audio dealer in business since 1987. Since 2009 I have been using exclusively using the UPS Store located at 426 Main Street, Spotswood, NJ for all my merchandise shipping. Over those years I have had issues with packages being damaged in transit and I have been unsuccessful in getting compensated for the loss in spite of the fact that all packages are always shipped fully insured. The store owner, Jason, has provided a variety of reasons for this ranging from "claim not filed in a timely fashion" to "UPS postage was purchased online at UPS.com so its' not our problem". Finally, on February 10th, 2016. I went with two packages to be shipped to two different customers, one in Maine (weight 49 pounds) and one in Florida (weight 14.20 pounds). The counter representative weighed both packages and since I had printed the shipping labels at UPS.com he helped me tape the labels on each package, using their tape. The Counter rep then scanned each package in, one after the other, and printed out a receipt for each. The receipts do not indicate the ship to address but do indicate the package weight, which again was 49 pounds for one and 14.20 pounds for the other. Since both labels entered the system and both produced receipts I left the UPS store believing all was fine. After 5 days, the tracking number for the package going to Florida weighing 14.20 pounds showed first "in transit" then "delivered 2/15/16". The other tracking number for the package destined for a customer in Maine showed only "shipping label created" and no further updates. When I contacted the UPS Store in Spotswood the UPS rep told me "since you purchased the shipping at UPS.com you need to call 1800 PICK UPS to get an answer, we didn't sell you the shipping label so this is not our problem". Less than helpful to say the least I contacted UPS and they confirmed what I already knew, one package was delivered and the other was only "label created" and nothing more, even though I had a receipt generated at the Spotswood UPS store saying I had brought it there for delivery. On the evening of February 15th I received a call from the Florida customer advising that BOTH packages had been delivered to his home and he had only ordered one. This solved the mystery of the missing package but began just continued my shipping adventure. Calling the UPS Store in Spotswood on February 16th and advising them of the error I tried to enlist their assistance. Jason, store owner, told me simply that it was a mistake but again, not his problem since they didn't sell the postage. I asked how two packages with identical labels could be scanned into their system and be sent off when those labels only represented one collected shipping fee, and wouldn't an alarm go off when the second package was scanned with the exact same label, same tracking number, etc., telling him that label was just used and entered. Jason said " I don't know how that happened, you must have just got lucky". He then told me to call 1800 PICK UPS to get the help I needed, and he would do nothing further for me, even though the error started right in his store by his own employee. Calling UPS Customer service they helped me get and return ship tag to Florida, got the package returned to me where I affixed the correct shipping label to the customer in Maine, and then shipped the package to the correct destination. UPS also assured me that after the customer finally received the package UPS will reimburse me for all the costs related to this error, they could not have been more helpful and nicer to deal with. I know its' a long story but it was a two week saga generated by the carelessness of the employees at UPS Spotswood and the uncaring attitude of their owner Jason. I can tell you as a small business owner in central New Jersey I will never set foot in their store again and will make every effort (including this post) to dissuade local business owners as well as persons simply shipping items to family and friends not to use the UPS Store in spotswood...EVER ! I hate having to go here or to any Post Office-y type of place, but I have to say this UPS Store is super-efficient and I always get in and out without a lot of suffering. If there's a line, you might have to wait a bit because I don't think I've ever seen more than one person working here at any given time. This is my first time entering a UPS store. I had to ship my computer and I was worried because it was really expensive. I had no idea what to expect but I learned about their pack and ship guarantee and I definitely want to suggest it to everyone. For a small cost, they pack the item professionally and if anything happens to the package they refund the total amount of the item plus all the packing costs. I heard horror stories about UPS not approving claims but with the pack and ship, they guarantee the claim back. On top of that who knew that UPS Store did professional print jobs? I am going to bring in my professional manuals to get them printed here because their prices seem pretty competitive. All in all, the guy was really nice and the service professional. read more

Do not use this store. They lost a critical package of mine and then told me to call UPS corporate to pursue it. In their words "We are not UPS". I called UPS corporate who said that they could only deal with store. I then called the store back who started a claim - then lost the claim information to UPS. and worst of all - I cant get anyone to return my phone call. Worst customer service experience Ive ever had. So in summary a critical package lost, denied they are part of UPS and not returning my phone calls. Use Fedex or United States Postal Service instead. read more

The new owner- Jay and his employees- are competent and run a good operation. I'm a regular shipper there- several packages a week- and never had a problem. I can drop off my packages and don't have to wait- they bill my account, I get a receipt for every item, and that works fine when there is a line there. The post office is good for smaller things. But If you're sending larger items- 9, 10 pounds or more- it's the way to go. UPS itself wants to charge me about $10 to come to my house to pick something up ($5.00 basic charge, $3 residential charge, $2.50 "fuel surcharge") PLUS regular shipping- this is much cheaper. read more

Never again .. webpage said pick up time was 6:00PM for Spotswood UPS. Got there at 5:05PM and had to force it out of them that the pick up was already picked up. They went on to say that pick up time is when ever the driver gets there and often times the driver is there early and does not wait.
