I have not posted a review in a while, but this place definitely warrants one. This is the closest UPS Store to my house, and I do a lot of business with them, but I will happily drive a extra five minutes to a different UPS store or even FedEx to never have to deal with this location again. My biggest compliant is about their total disregard for health and safety. I have been to the store several times in the past year, and every single time I go there is at least one person not wearing a mask. It is usually the same person too. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and the lack of this simple curtesy/precaution is mind blowing. I've seen in the owner's responses to other reviews that they have the door open so they don't need to wear masks. Opening one door is not enough to circulate airflow throughout the entire building, but even if it was the Washington state guidelines require masks to be worn when meeting people outdoors and even on a boat. If you have to wear a mask on a boat, you should be wearing one in your store. As others have stated, this store is price gouging. I'm no expert on shipping, but I have literally sent the same item, in the same size box, from two different UPS stores, and this one charged me more. They even charged me for printing a UPS label for an Amazon return. That does not happen if I go to the UPS store up the street. In addition to that, they charged me to tape a box closed, when the Amazon return instructions clearly state I didn't even need to provide a box for the item I was returning. This doesn't happen to me at any other UPS store location in the area, or even at UPS stores in other states! If you live in the area and need to go to a UPS store, drive to the one up the street. You will spend money in time and gas, but probably save more money overall from all the little expenses this store will charge you. this brings me to the staff. Most of the staff is fine. Not great, but fine. Will they go out of their way to help you like the nearby UPS and FedEx locations? No, definitely not. They are a little slow and will find ways to make you spend more money, but they aren't overtly rude. However, there is one woman at this location, the same woman not wearing a mask every time I go in, who is absolutely a pain to deal with in person. Aside from the fact that I don't want to get too close to her because she isn't wearing a mask, she is just short tempered and rude with all her interactions. I am never going to this store again. I gave them multiple chances in the past year, going here several times, but I will never step foot in this location ever again. I almost exclusively went to UPS store locations in the past, but since having to deal with this location, I've started going to FedEx when not dealing with Amazon returns. I've reported this location to the state for Covid-19 violations, and have also reported this location to UPS, and encourage everyone who has had the same experience to do the same. UPS, PLEASE get your workers in line or shut down this store. How can this store ask customers to distance and mask up when the workers there are not willing to do so??? The blatant disregard for customer health is absolutely astonishing. My house burned down last April, and as a result, I've been doing a lot of online purchases and subsequent returns. I usually don't leave reviews, but I really didn't appreciate the service I received here and don't think poor customer service should be rewarded with business. I walked in to ship a package which was already pre labeled and ready to go. There was a small line so the man at the front (dressed in normal street clothes presumably the owner) told me to leave the package on the counter. I did so and waited around for a shipping receipt (the item shipped was worth $2000 and a receipt is obviously important). He then snapped at me "why are you still standing there?" I told him I needed a receipt and he snapped again, "just take a picture of the label, that's all I'm going to give you anyway!" I insisted upon a receipt and he snapped one last time, "well you're going to have to wait then!" I took a picture of the label and got out of there as quickly as possible. I understand he was busy however there was no need to snap at me like that. He was just plain rude. I will never be back to this UPS store and I suggest you don't go there either. read more

I have worked in UPS Stores before including being a Training supervisor for 13 locations, a UPS Store corporate certified trainer, and a Manager for 8 years. This owner doesn't own their poor customer interactions and (as evidenced by their yelp activity) blames the customer. STRONG SUGGESTION: Take your business elsewhere. Just went to drop off a prepaid Amazon package that admittedly needed to be taped. My partner and I walk in and are instructed to set the package on the scale. The person who came up, no idea who it was because they were in street clothes with no name tag, looked at my partner like they had a third head until they showed the information from their phone to the ¿employee?. They literally never gave my partner any instructions We asked for the package to be taped and they handed me a roll of tape and told me to do it myself and they would charge me for the tape when I was done. Only after I asked would they tell me that they wanted $5 for a SMALL roll of tape. The lack of customer service and the "I'll tell you after you've used the product" attitude means that I will NEVER use this location for anything more than a drop off package. This location has been my primary mail, shipping & printing facility for more than 11 years, in that time, I have never had any challenges with the staff, their service or the policies they have clearly set. My visits to the store every time are outstanding, if they happen to be busy, they quickly acknowledge me, and move proficiently to get people taken care as needed. Needed to return an Amazon package and took it to this UPS location. Never again will I set foot in this location! We are all walking around wearing masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The employee behind the counter had a mask on, however had it resting under his nose! There was a plastic partition hanging over the counter. I had to get close enough to this idiot to have him scan my phone for the return label - when my arm wouldn't reach enough towards him, he told me I needed to step much closer - I replied you need to pull your mask up over your nose. He tapped on the plastic partition and said "that's what this is for. Unfortunately some of us can't breathe in masks." Where I replied, "unfortunately some of us die from Covid." Walked in with a small package to be delivered with a pre-paid label already affixed. I asked for a piece of tape and a shipping receipt. The lady said "ok would you like to pay $1.00 for a piece of tape or purchase a full roll?". She had a rude tone. I said I have never paid for a piece of tape so small. Especially for a small box that is 7 inches long. Then I said ok. I'll go to the UPS store by my house, and she said "ok". Older Asian lady. Let me walk out. I just ATTEMPTED to return an Amazon purchase at this location and was totally rejected. My instructions from Amazon stated that I did not need to do anything but take my items (with their printed labels) to any UPS store and they would do the rest. Big joke. The unapologetic woman working there wouldn't take them and then was going to charge me for the tape to secure my packages. I don't know if Amazon was more at fault but I just wasted my time and I haven't really wanted to leave my house for health reasons, not COVID-19 reasons. The biggest reason that I am mad is that she provided absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. No "I'm sorry" or "screw you" or anything. UPDATING my review based on Ballinger UPS Store's "we aren't sorry" comments: If you do not honor Amazon's policies (but don't tell us that fact when we come in with our returns), how are we supposed to know that? ESP?? All you had to do is have some common courtesy. You could have said "I'M SORRY but we don't do that. Amazon is incorrect." But no. You had to be nasty about it. During one visit I watched someone working at the store decline to accept a FedEx - a competing business - package in a polite manner. Unfortunately it seems that retail customers are underwriting the relatively low rates paid by high volume shippers. Over the past several years, I have dreaded going to this store for anything, including a simple package drop-off, because the staff are consistently argumentative and unskilled with communication and customer service skills. Perhaps a class in customer service would help the managers/owners know how to simply communicate with people without it seeming like you're a burden and feeling upset when you leave. i love the store, services it provides, convenient location. Service is friendly enough (wife is really nice, courteous, the husband not so much) but can be slow at times since there is always just one person. If you're picking up stuff, stuck behind someone who's shipping it could take forever but that's besides the point. Overall it meets my needs until.......... Seriously they need to think about how they impact the customers. At least twice now I've arrived during business hours to find that they are closed. Not holiday, not special weather related. At least notify customers in advance or something since they have the means to do so. I specifically need the services of a mailbox store for receiving my shipments while I'm a work and picked a store that is convenient with hours that works for me so that I can come by late after work when I have packages. Doesn't serve the purpose if they adjust their hours without warning, or in this case close one hour early and open an hour late in the morning for two weeks? Why am I still paying if I cannot access my goods? And you get charged a ridiculous $7/day/pkg on the 3rd day if you don't pick up your package. Should I shell out extra $$ to get 24/7 access - me think not. I was expecting to get my Kindle today. It's like a little kid at Christmas arriving to find the present behind a locked glass cabinet. This store is extremely close to me, so it should be convenient and a go-to, right? I put up with their terrible service for years, but I won't go in there anymore. They act like you are a third-class citizen if your package has a prepaid label. They even refuse to take prepaid packages on the weekends. I was shocked when I started going to other UPS stores. They greet me and gladly accept my prepaid packages. They offer me a scan and tracking receipt. I have never gotten any of that from the Ballinger store. Edmonds and Oak Tree are great. I cannot ever spend another second or cent at the Ballinger store. It's worth driving out of my way! read more

I opened my box here before the ownership changed hands. Don't use this location for anything, especially not mailbox services. Here's why - 1) they have never Id'ed me for access to my mail ( not once ) 2) the old owners always ID'ed me until they knew me by name, which was maybe the second time I was in. No one in this store can remember me or that in here for my mail, even though I pick it up 1-2 times a week. 3) I was told that my phone number would not appear on a shipping label - it was. (And it caused a privacy issue) 4) they can't explain the difference between what you get with a small mailbox and a medium mailbox. The old owners/employees were great.. the new owners/employees are making a lot of mistakes. If it wasn't such a hassle to change my mailbox location to another UPS store, I'd do it. Multiple issues but the main one is the Asian lady who runs the place or is the owner. I walk in and she is yelling at an employee. I stand at the counter, she see's me but still continues to bitch out the employee. She finally turns to me, asks me what I need and I ask to use a dolly because I have a large box in the car. As she is dragging the dolly from behind the counter she continues to yell at the employee, so rude and unprofessional. I wheel the box and dolly back into the store, she looks at me and says out loud. "Somebody else help him because I am not going to lift that box and hurt my back" I then told her she is mean. A gentleman who I assume was her husband comes out of the back to help me. The box was not heavy, around 30lbs, just awkward. I had a pre printed return postage sheet from Amazon (Amazon requires returns to be shipped UPS) Little did I know but this pre paid postage sheet was the reason Asian lady didn't want to help me. You see, the husband told me that she (Asian woman), was mean because they ( Asian lady and husband) have to provide free service to people who have pre printed slips and they make no money. Who tells a customer this? Hey UPS you might want to screen your franchisees a little better. Hey Asian lady, this is what your business is about, shipping boxes so deal with it. Also, I bought two stamps. Well I didn't make the $3.00 minimum charge so they charged me a misc fee to cover their expense. I think a business that does this is wrong, you either accept all dollar amounts or you don't accept any. Like many others, I have never posted a Yelp review, but this place needs their franchise taken away by UPS. And no, despite the date, this review is NOT an April Fool's joke, though this "business" certainly is. 1. Multiple times returning Amazon packages, they refuse to print receipts with tracking info, and outright lie and say no UPS store does so, when every other location I have been to does so. 2. The service is surly, when it exists. 3. My final visit to this franchise was yesterday, when the service was so utterly terrible that I left without shipping my packages, will never return, and will be reporting them to UPS. I went in shortly before needing to pick up my child from a nearby school to drop off a single return. There were 2 other customers (being helped in the usual surly and slow manner) both shipping a large number of packages, and 3 of us waiting in line. There are 3 counters at this location. There was a female staffer sitting in the back, in plain view of the 5 customers waiting in line, filling out personal greeting cards. She barely even looked at us, and refused to use the 3rd computer to help the increasingly long line of customers, now having reached 5 people. Finally, I got fed up as I had been in line nearly 20 minutes, watching the lady fill out her greeting cards and making me late to pick up my child. Never go to this UPS store. Read the other reviews. ETA after response from business: This kind of surly attitude from the store epitomizes their attitude at this location. Referencing Covid is hilarious, as your staff doesn't even wear masks as pointed out in other reviews and observed when I was in there, so you are clearly not that concerned about it. In general, spending more time on writing personal greeting cards and responding snidely to bad Yelp reviews instead of customer service speaks for itself. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced, had an issue with Apple sending tracking numbers and boxes so Apple advised me to call before hand to make sure they had my shipping label and gave me the number, called a girl answered the phone, she knew as much about shipping as I do about brain surgery. She basically told me they didn't need a number, okay whatever I'll pack up the toddler and run down, I do so and the guy with the baseball cap, RUDELY asked for the number I was trying to give the girl on the phone and he wouldn't even make eye contact with me the entire transaction and was super rude, he looked almost offended that I asked him for a paper clip, it took everything in me not to blow up on these people. I have worked in customer service for 10 years and if I ever treated a customer this way I would be fired. Employees need better training or replacing. read more

Very shady UPS location, won't be going there again. First time I went there was to return an Amazon package; Amazon's instruction said no packaging needed and just bring the item and the return barcode. The guy charged me a dollar packing fee because "the box is not taped shut and is not ready to be shipped". This week I went twice, each time dropping off a package with label already attached. When I ask for a receipt, instead of the usual printed receipt that I get at any other UPS store, the guy took the printed receipt, tore off the top portion leaving only the tracking number, and stick it on a piece of paper that says "this is not a shipping receipt". Later I realized that the tracking number on these receipts don't even match the package I dropped off. Never been to an UPS this shady, won't be visiting again. read more

Update: in response to the manager--I am not who you think I am and my husband doesn't work in the ER so I'm not sure who you are referring to. However, I am a Registered Nurse and work TWELVE hour shifts with a mask on, lifting heavy patients all day. Having compassion and respect for others means exactly that--wearing a mask so as to not get your customers sick. I'm not sure if it was you or not but you were two feet from multiple customers without a mask on. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Full stop. If you are so sick that you cannot wear a mask, you should absolutely not be working in customer service. You should delegate those tasks to others who are able to wear a mask and if you cannot do this, perhaps you should look into doing something else or hiring another person. I have reported you guys and I will continue to do so until you start to follow covid regulations. It really isn't up for discussion, it is mandated that you wear a mask. I am tired of people like you who feel your own comfort is above others' right to not be endangered. You are risking people's lives and you can continue to make excuses. I will continue to report you and tell everyone I know to avoid your store at all costs. I waited in line for an hour at the post office just to avoid you. Customer service was fine except for the fact that one woman employee was NOT wearing a mask. Frankly it was outrageous; she was at the customer service register not even a couple feet from customers, helping them as if nothing was wrong with the fact that she had no mask on. Had some sort of air diffuser going with who knows what in it. Considering they had a sign at the front that stated all customers must wear masks, I find it to be awful that they themselves do not wear masks (at least this one woman). There were many elderly customers and those who seemed they may be vulnerable. Insanely confused (being nice) people work here. They have lost any future business for sure! They wanted $1000+ to ship to Canada. Went to FedEx, same service, $230. I even told the ditz at UPS that the UPS calculator quoted $275. The response, "well I don't know where they got that". FROM THE CORRECT PRICING GUIDE PEOPLE. It's all you do, ship stuff. One carrier and you don't even know correct pricing? I had to make them write it down for my customer who insisted on UPS because he works there. He didn't believe me until I showed him the written quote. Plus they wanted another $100+ to box it! Apparently they intended to use gold leaf and pack in krugerand? Clueless! Never again. I also was shipping a rare guitar and that was 130 at this UPS, 93 at FedEx. Don't go here! FedEx is just around the corner! And then the comment below. Could they be more clueless? I was in such a hurry, having to ship some lights to CA ASAP. The clerk working was extremely helpful in finding the right box and stuffing it with peanuts. Stuffed, taped, and shipped it up and was done in less than 30 minutes. Medium size box, the price for a two day was $145. read more

This place is a rip off. 1 time I came in for a print job for several papers and this one guy charged me $.10 cent per page I remember. Another time I came in just to print 2 pages of papers and this one lady charged me over $2. Today, my husband came in to have his ID copy in black and white, 1 page, they charged him $7. I am so mad about this and told him to go back in and get his money back. But he's shy so he doesn't want to go back. Im having bad morning sickness with my pregnancy so I can't really go there to talk straight with them. Never in my life, a single paper with black and white copy would cost $7. Really irritated with the lady who runs this facility. I had to pick up a MyChoice package and misplaced my driver's license. Unfortunately, chemo brain gets the best of me. I decided to use my passport which she denied. Said it had to be a driver's license. Went home and searched for an hour for it and returned back to the store to get my package. She refused to give me my package again because the address on my DL didn't match what was on the package. I have never had this problem with other UPS Stores. I only chose to have my weekly inventory shipped here because the other local UPS stores were full and not taking UPS MyChoice deliveries. Explains a lot! read more
