Today was not one of my normal days so I googled closest FedEx near me and this joint pooped up. I have lived in this area for almost 10 years and never knew about this spot. We always just hit Winco, Home Depot and the food spots. I am really learning more about the store fronts in this center. Pulling up I almost missed it. It's a smaller store but I found me a nice front row parking spot and made my way in. There was a gal working behind the counter. She greeted me and asked what she could do for me. I told her about my packages and she got me squared away. I was also sending some important paperwork to the transplant hospital as well. I needed an envelope and postage. She guided me to the right envelope and got me taken care of. It was a smooth transaction from start to finish. While I was writing the address on the envelope, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by all the fun, local things they had in the store. Local soaps, chapsticks, kitchen towels. It was all so fun to look at. I loved all the fun soaps they had. I could stay there for a while just to smell all of them. I guess this joint has been around for 20 years, crazy. I would have never known to today. This joint is 8 minutes from my house. It's so convenient to be able to drop off my packages without having to go downtown or by the mall. The associate was really kind and they had some fun goodies there. I know where I need to go now when I have any packages to be dropped off in the future.

It was panic time! I was at post office needing to send a priority mail envelope out with a book in…read moreit. The self-service machine was broken and the line for the single worker at the front counter was literally, out the door! I wanted this package mailed today. I checked the Yelp App and found a place near my next stop called Mail Room and More. It is in the heart of the Karcher shopping area north of I-84. I made a bee line for the place. It sits in a small strip mall that could be easy to overlook if you were not sure of where you were going. But I made it there with time to spare. Turns out the "and More" was a coffee shop with lots of little snacks and baked goods on one side and the shipping area on the other side. The staff was so nice and even though it was few extra bucks to mail the package I didn't mind because the convenience was worth it. I then remembered that I had another shipping issue with a large, flat 3 by 4-foot mounted quilt I needed to get to Michigan. I tried to ship it via UPS the day before but was quoted over $500! I knew it would be an expensive shipment because it was oversized, but I did not think it would be over $500, I expected $150 to $200. The ladies behind the counter started looking for an option for me and came up with one for $175. Right in the ballpark! It was even Fed Ex! Those ladies packed that big flat thing right up and got it out on its way to my Cousin in great time. While I am in Nampa handling my Mom's estate I will shipping more things, and all those things are getting shipped at the Mail Room... and More!

Inside you can drop off your letters or stand to the counter for more complex purchases. There is a friendly banter that seems fun and personable which I have observed with those who appear to be regulars. (I am new to Star) I recently witnessed a lady working in the front with pretty eyes who was so kind and patient with an elderly woman while she chatted. When I commented on how I appreciated that she did not rush this older lady, but took time to hear her story, she told me, " I have elderly clients come in that only buy one stamp maybe once or twice a week and I think this may be some of the only interactions they get. They just buy a stamp so they can have a brief conversation with someone." This warmed my heart, and I hope it warms yours. With people like this working here it makes me want to come back. Let's all remember this is the post office and not UPS or FedEx. They are not for profit and so they do not create our labels, or tape up our packages for us. Those are expectations for the profitable corporations that charge double. I still marvel that they will carry my letter across the United States for a fraction of a dollar. I know it has doubled since it was 33 cents in 1999. Uhhh, what about the cost of food in the last 5 years?

At 7:30 Thursday evening the postal service had not been by my mailbox and the letter with my payment was still in my mailbox. No pickup Thursday. On Friday, at 6:45 pm, the letter with payment is still in my mailbox and no postal service has been here to pickup or deliver Friday, 06/19/26. I must have missed the letter from the Eagle Post Office that told me they no longer making deliveries or pickup at my address. Not happy. The other one moved at a snail's pace (Betty) is the name on her tag. She was helping with someone certified mail and was taking her time. She seemed to be enjoying the fact that there were 8 people in line waiting for her while she took her time- I've never seen anyone move so slow..... 4 people left the building without being served. I stood in line about 20 minutes and finally just gave her a post marked package. What a lovely post office experience I had at the Middleton post office! I shipped several packages…read moreright before Christmas and they were efficient, helpful, and patient with me and my two year old. Everyone was in good spirits, and it seemed to me that workers were actually enjoying their job, which is rare for a post office these days. I will definitely be returning to this location for my future shipping needs.
