I returned to Covenant in September 2025 after a long hiatus due to complicated circumstances. But…read morein many ways my heart never left Covenant. I had, in the interim, gotten to know pastor Kevin and was pleased that under his leadership Covenant was in good hands. My return to Covenant was prompted, in part, by the pastoral way in which they reached out to me upon hearing of my wife's illness. Not just the usual "thoughts and prayers" sayings, but with in-person visits for prayer and discussion. Overall this is a great place with Christ-centered preaching and teaching, a welcoming and friendly congregation, and a true gospel presence in the community.

Probably a fine church, but not for the libertarian or conservative-leaning…read more During Pastor Kevin's sermon he inserted comments about the "racism and sexism of today" and about capitalism, implying that it makes the poor poorer. Racism and sexism are being weaponized by the left, created where neither exist, so any reference to them indicates leftist bias. In addition, by perpetuating the left's fallacy of the unfairness of capitalism, when in fact it is the economic system that has done the most to elevate the poor to wealth, lead me to believe there is further leftist bias. When I confronted the pastor after services and asked him to clarify what he meant by these references he just said "in culture" dismissively without any further explanation and thanked me for attending. When evaluating a church be sure to listen closely to sermons for language that indicates the political beliefs of the church.

**So sad I need to make this post.** I've been attending…read moreCapital for over 12 years. When I first came, I heard a sermon on the Beatitudes--something I had never heard before--and it was life changing. Not long after, I was baptized there, feeling such a strong presence of love and a clear direction of "Jesus for the People." Sadly, that no longer feels like the reality. When MAGA/politics started surfacing in the pulpit, the church's mission of reaching *all people* seemed to decline. I used to feel safe going to church, but now it feels more like a Christian nationalist rally. At one point, there was even a meeting about who to vote for--which of course leaned MAGA. I personally don't care about someone's individual political views, but I do not believe the pew is the place for politics. There are still amazing pastors here--like Pastor Mark and Pastor Rob--who are not politically driven but faith-driven. They are loving, open, and don't form cliques of popularity. And there are still so many kind and loving people in the church. But sadly, the overall leadership has become more political, cherry-picking scripture and thumping the Bible about pro-life, gender issues, and political affiliations. I want *Jesus* and a community that loves people, *all people*. Instead, it feels less like a relationship with Jesus and more like religious leaders pushing an agenda. My heart is broken because the focus has shifted. They have become no different from many of the churches they once claimed to be different from. They've lost sight of Jesus. They've become modern-day Pharisees.

If you're looking for an unapologetically Bible-believing church, I highly recommend visiting TVBC…read more They describe themselves as "still church", an apt description: they still use the KJV, and still sing hymns from a hymnal, thereby preventing modernist twistings of Scripture as well as modernist man-centric "worship", so-called. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, after all! And the true Word of God, preserved in the KJV, is most certainly not "broke". (Can I get an amen?) Also not "broke" is the traditional form of worship that God's Word makes clear to be His preference. Worship isn't about us--it's about God, after all! And TVBC understands this. John 4:24 states clearly: "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Therefore, in order to fulfill the truth requirement, worship MUST be doctrinally sound. The best way to ensure doctrinal soundness is to base lyrics directly on Scripture, which is exactly what the classic hymns are, and this is why Independent Fundamental Baptist churches, including TVBC, still sing hymns. They don't dip their toes in the neo-evangelical or ecumenical movements either; pastor Rick DeMichele is well aware of how they open the door wide for doctrinal compromise to sneak its way in. (Read "The Tragedy of Compromise" by Earnest D. Pickering for more on this topic.) My wife and I have been searching for a while, but this church is the real deal, and will be our church home moving forwards. We've only attended for a couple of weeks now, but we've already made several new friends, and feel very much at home already. Praise God for faithfully preserving His True Church, and for faithfully providing for all those who truly seek Him. TVBC is among the best examples of both for anyone living in the Treasure Valley who truly wants to grow closer to the Lord and glorify Him. Thank you for reading, and God bless!

We reached out directly to the church, who confirmed they produce these flyers and that people are distributing them this way, but said they can't control where they end up. Today, I found 11 targeting children looking for a book to read. I don't have an issue with the church or its beliefs. My concern is that a clearly- communicated boundary around a shared neighborhood space isn't being respected, After reading other reviews, this is a common practice and I will be perusing additional action.
