It is the only place in the Newport area to ship items. It is a necessary evil. Overall: Location - Convenient Price - OH MY GOSH!. It is AWFUL! Examples: 1: I had a package that I wanted them to pack and ship. They will charge you a fee for this service on top of the items used to ship. Minimal packing and I question on this service. Though it is useful at times. 2. I had a long wooded sword to send. It does fit in one of those tube packaging. To send to California, the cost for this small wooden sword was over $150! It weighs less than a pound. To send via the next cheapest option was over $120. No way. I think it would be easier to travel to California and give it to my friend herself! read more

This jerk is new, terrible, rude and loud to customers. He's so loud and rude standing near the entrance almost like shouting to the customers. And he brought up some random UPS policy that was never enforced in any other locations and refused my package. He is playing God from the drain hole. The store manager Olajuwon is terribly rude and fully determined to not be helpful at all. If you just have some Amazon drop off that's probably fine, but if you ever try to do anything required brain capacity ever so slightly more than pushing some button and printing some labels, the staff of this store will sure set you up for a nightmarish experience. I paid $539 to ship a valuable ($7000) piece of art. It arrived with the glass broken, frame damaged and the print scratched from the glass. I was told I had to file a claim with UPS Claims. I did for $1700, and that was before I knew the print was damaged. They only paid 600, just enough for it to be reframed, no refund of the fee to ship and they said too bad about other damage since we didn't buy additional insurance. Shouldn't UPS refund the $539 for the "fragile " service they failed to provide? Shouldn't their insurance cover the damage THEY did to my property while in their possession? read more

Go to FedEx. This place is practically begging you to bring your business elsewhere - and you should as I did. They went out of their way to be uncooperative, trying to charge me triple what I've always paid to mail an envelope by claiming they can only send the more expensive two-day express option instead of saver or ground. They also insisted they would only take cash to pay for an envelope I didn't even end up using and the employee demanded to hold onto my personal letter as collateral for returning with cash. Fortunately, I went to FedEx around the corner where I paid the usual low price I'm used to and was able to use a credit card like everyone else in 2023. This UPS Store is in a convenient location right across from the Newport Path Train. Like other NYC-area business with heavy foot traffic, the staff make it known that they don't need your business since other customers will always come in and they aren't being paid enough to care. Don't give it to them. UPDATE: In response to this business owner's reply to this review: you are incorrect. Your business refused to offer UPS Ground service to mail an envelope, a service I've always utilized as a UPS customer for more than 20 years. Your competitors do offer this service - $15 at FedEx and only $9 at the US Post Office vs. the $40 for two-day express service your associate falsely told me was the only option. I advise other potential customers to avoid this store and go to FedEx, USPS or other UPS stores to avoid being forced into overpaying. The other businesses also allow credit card payments for all amounts whereas the associate insisted I pay in cash. read more

Never had an issue here I usually go after lunch and everyone is so kind and accommodating. The longest I have waited is maybe 10 minutes but that is very rare. The staff is very friendly and always says hi! Was also very consistent during COVID with keeping the minimum people inside but also keeping the line moving. read more

Christian is the best - so helpful and accommodating and made our lives so much easier by being so gracious and flexible. Update 5/18/18 - Because of the missing FedEx packages, I lost the customer's account. This is a loss of tens of thousands of dollars in revenue. RUN AWAY FROM UPS NEWPORT!!! After years of having mail services at the store, they have begun to make terrible errors. Both last week and today, I expected FedEx overnight packages for business. The deliveries were due by 10:30 AM. On both occasions, I called at approximately 11 AM explaining that I was expecting a package in the current days mail and asking whether it arrived. Both times, the person who answered claimed to have looked for the package and both times said it was not there. Both times, the package was there, they didn't know it was there, or didn't look. Today, I called my boss thinking that our mail room was ineffective. She did a three-way call with me and the mail room where they were able to identify the delivery time and the signer for the package. I called back to the UPS store with that information to complain that they'd given me wrong information. They found my package, unregistered, sitting on their counter. "Aaron" attempted to give 1,000 excuses for their poor performance, then hung up on me when I demanded to speak to the owner. I called back and the same Aaron admitted to hanging up on this customer. He also refused to scan and email/fax the package to me stating "that's not part of the job." Use caution when dealing with this business. They nearly cost me my customer last week, and now I must scramble to obtain and print the 200-plus pages of documents that had already been express mailed, at my own expense, or try to drive back to the Newport UPS Store in the snow! I completely agree with reviewers who say UPS staff yells! The driver in the picture came into the mailroom at my apartment building and was yelling at several of us for trying to get our non UPS mail. He even tried to swat me out of the way when I tried to get into the residential hub to get a non UPS package. I called customer service to report it. Later someone named Keisha (or Keysha) called me, but she had a terrible attitude and wouldn't help at all. I asked her for the incident number and she wouldn't give the number and hung up on me. I tried to call back the number +1 (201) 271-4867 but that is either not a working number or Keisha blocked me. I had to call the corporate number to escalate it to upper management. There needs to be some serious customer service training! Absolutely unacceptable! read more

This UPS store is generally fine for performing routine tasks like dropping off packages, but its customer service in problem situations (e.g., lost packages, special deliveries) is really lacking. I rated it one star because the tasks the store does well could just as easily be done by a UPS dropbox, and this store's ability to provide customer service when issues do arise is generally on par with that of the dropbox. In my case, I had a package that was mis-sorted and delayed indefinitely. I went into the store (where I bought the label for my package) to ask for a refund on my shipping charge because I concluded that "guaranteed delivery by X date or your money back" might possibly cover scenarios in which UPS was already five days late in meeting its scheduled delivery time (I had shipped something for overnight delivery). The clerk I spoke to, however, informed me that a refund could only be processed by "corporate" and that I should call them. I promptly replied that I had already spoken to "corporate" and was told to go to the store directly. This reply caused a brief look of consternation and confusion to cross his face before he replied that only the manager could approve refunds and, unfortunately, he was away at the moment. When I asked when the manager would return, the clerk informed me that this was "unclear" because the manager kept odd hours. I asked if he would follow up on my case, and he assured me that he would do so "within the next few days." I then left the store confident that the clerk would address my concern because he never wrote down my tracking number, never took down my name, and never typed anything into any terminal whatsoever before taking the next customer. I imagine he memorized my tracking number during our conversation, and will update my review when I get my refund. read more

I just had the absolute worst experience here. I've been coming to this ups store to ship things for six months now, probably once a week or so. I use them to ship eBay items, to send things to my friends and relatives, etc. Well today, I walk in with a gift for my mom's birthday that I needed to get there by the end of the week. It was a small package. I went to the counter and waited for the salesperson to acknowledge me. I waited for a good thirty seconds before I finally said, excuse me can you help me? He just looked at me. I took that as a sign to continue, so I said, "I need to get this to my mom by the end of the week." He said, "You need a padded envelope." I said, "Ok, what size do you think would be best?" He said, "They're on the wall behind you. Use your judgement. You have eyes." I said, "Excuse me?" He said, "I'm not gonna pick out an envelope for you." So I walked out without sending my gift. Now I have to figure out how to get the gift to my mom without using the UPS store. The post office won't overnight to South Carolina. :( I was under the impression that the whole point of the UPS store was that they help you pack and ship your items!!! Standard UPS store with friendly staff, although the hours could be improved for those of us who work beyond the normal 9-5 and weekends. Prices are standard UPS and they have all your normal packing needs. Oftentimes you'd find people here just waiting for packing material as they moved out of the local towers or moved in. read more

Do NOT do business with this UPS store.. couple of the employees are So rude and unprofessional you feel bothersome and like you're insulting their existence simply asking for help. There's one dude in particular, with skinny little braid-dreads that is absolutely the worst customer service agent I've ever come across in any capacity. He's a f*cking waste, shocking he has a job at all. UPS is an awful, failing company as a whole.. just look at their stock price, this place is a shining example of why its tanking (and yes, for all you finance geeks, I understand this is a retail branch and likely has nothing to do with UPS's market cap, valuation but I need the example to more emphatically make my point). Oh, almost forgot to mention that they once poorly packed several boxes full of Christmas presents intended for my parents in Florida. Package never made it, apparently portions of the destroyed boxes were recovered but, shockingly, no goods were ever salvaged. Extremely RUDE. The guy said "I'm not stupid like you" when he knew that I was shipping an item sold on eBay for a "low price" in his opinion. Additionally, he missed part of the shipping address and refused to correct it! I had to go talk to the UPS driver outside to manually correct the address on the label. I had a bad experience beginning of the year and filed a complaint with the corporate but I had an exceptional service provided by Javian on Dec 14. Horrible customer service. I called ahead to confirm whether or not they take company account#s and a man picked up and confirmed that they do. Got there and the lady at the front told me they don't. I further clarified that I called ahead and the person on the other line confirmed that they do. She looked at me as if I was crazy and to further accentuate her lack professionalism, she went and asked each of her coworkers if they picked up the phone earlier and told someone that they process company account#s to prove that no one from that location would confirm such a thing. I can understand possible miscommunication of information but what I don't like from this hiccup was the lack of professionalism and lack of help. There was no apology either on the lack I understand each store is individually owned so I will make note to never go to this location and any of the other locations of the same owner. I don't have to repeat so many times if you just stop talking! Mail options are so limited OR staff not familiar with their job. Very bad service. Went there this morning(October 14th 8:00am) to print . There were 2 workers (a girl and boy) in the store behind the desk consistently checking their phones and talking about their personal lives. It seemed like it was a hassle to ask them for any help. After I printed my material, I asked them how much I had to pay ? They looked at me and Said how many copies did u make ? I said I don't know, they were like you need to count yourself in a very rude manner. Very bad attitude and poor service. Omg, these people are not even able understand their own printers, which they work with on a daily basis, to be able to print/scan on paper with watermarks. They tried for half an hour with zero success. The staff got impatient 5 minutes in, and started bitching about me first in English thinking I might not understand it because I am Asian, then in Spanish after realizing I could understand them, and then tried to deny it, which was a futile move... I just went to your store #0368 in Jersey City about 30 mins ago. I purchased a small box and then was told I had to go outside to pack it because one other person - one! - was already packing a box inside, and if I were to also pack a box it would be a fire hazard. Or, CONVENIENTLY, I could pay your store to pack it for me. What? You are a packing store, for goodness sake (believe me, I would love to use an expletive here)!!! You are telling me a capacity of one other person means I have to go outside - IN THE RAIN TODAY - to pack up my SMALL box?! It was humiliating. There is no where to pack a box outside, I had to kneel down in the middle of the sidewalk - again, in the RAIN - because your employees refused to let me simply tape up a box inside. By the way, I had brought my own tape, so didn't need any supplies from you. What kind of business are you running that you make your own customers go outside in the rain to tape up a box?!? Believe me, I will NEVER, NEVER set foot in your store again and I hope you re-consider this ridiculous policy because it is degrading and demeaning. I will make it my duty to go anywhere but your store and let everyone know how I was treated. Seriously think you need to check yourself and your employees.
