This location has a front staff of pig-ignorant, unhelpful dullards. I have to imagine the only employees they can find are high school failures. They were probably too stupid to drop out and save some years. I was just there and witnessed all customers in front of me treated with disdain. I would say the woman that was supposed to serve me had English as a second language, but unfortunately it was her first. She just was not that familiar with complete sentences. I came for a fingerprinting service- which... I did manage to get done fairly quickly (there was no line). I was glad that someone was there working, because earlier I had tried the Rockefeller Center post office for the fingerprinting and that worker didn't show up, one very kind Asian lady was trying to help me and another angrier non-Asian lady told me to just deal with it and seemed to want me to stop talking to the woman who was helping me. "Go to Church Street or go to 1 Police Plaza." I asked, "Where is 1 Police Plaza?" and she yelled, "One Police Plaza!" That was at a different location- Rockefeller Center, where I guess you can still get people to cover for you even if you don't show up to work. This Church Street post office is a super beautiful building. I was really amazed, and full of compliments and happiness that someone was there to help, and about the beauty of the building. Two stars, because technically I got what I wanted done fairly quickly, but the woman working there was just as angry, and strangely belittling as the woman uptown, even though she was alone and no one was waiting. She asked me if I had a confirmation number and I said I didn't and she stopped and looked at me, said and then she can't help me and I need to go get one. I then said, wait, I have this email and then she said "Read it from the top" and I said "Order Number, D....." etc. She's like "what did I ask you? I asked you if you had an order number you said (and in a high mocking sassy voice) "No, I don't" " Then I said, "I thought you said confirmation #" and then I looked on the sheet where I was supposed to write the confirmation number down near my name and it said "confirmation order number." While I was there getting my fingers printed (the machine is working now!) I guess I wasn't putting my fingers down correctly- bad fingerprinting technique , and she kept ordering "flat! flat!" but she's like "put your hands like this! I am not doing this for 30 minutes!" [Reminder: We were completely alone in that area, and no one was waiting.] She eventually helped me by pushing her fingers down on my hands so I got get the right pressure or angle? So she was able to be helpful and she knew what she was doing. Later, when paying, there was a place on the credit card machine where we were supposed to write what kind of service we got- and the unhappy worker herself tapped the pad with that smiley face icon - to indicate I was happy with the service!!! She tapped the icon herself without even looking at it! She seems very comfortable and practiced at sharing with whoever collects that data of all the happiness she is giving her customers! I said thank you as I left, and she was just angrily silent. So much unhappiness! I got what I wanted done, maybe? I'll find out in 48 hours, I think? But if you would prefer or need to be treated with some kind of kindness and humanity, I recommend trying a different location. U. S. Post Office at Church Street was my go to when I worked nearby. I can take it or leave it. I used to be paranoid waiting in line because I was on my lunch break. This is is an infuriatingly terrible post office. Thank goodness I only went to buy stamps. Despite the fact that this is the main historic post office for Tribeca, WTC, and a big chunk of FiDi, there was only *one* person working IN THE WHOLE PLACE mid-day on a Thursday. There have got to be 20+ windows and they were all closed but one, which of course had a huge line of people waiting to use it. The whole place is plastered with ugly little handmade signs saying they don't actually offer the services they're supposed to (the ones I noticed said no money orders, no fingerprinting, no passport photos, and no passport walk-ins -- all things that the USPS website says are offered at this location). Oh, and no stamps. Not a stamp to be found in the entire place apart from the ones you self-print at the kiosks. Just a big wall of empty racks. It's all the worse because it's a big historic post office, almost the whole ground floor of a landmark WPA-era federal building with great art deco architecture and interiors. But through neglect, mismanagement, or probably both, USPS has hollowed it out to a non-functional shell. Depressing. read more

This is my go-to postoffice during covid times. High ceilings and spacious. Clean. Sure you might stand in line for a few minutes, but have you been to other post offices in the city? Some are crowded enough to be petri dishes for the virus and others are located in heavily residential neighborhoods where there hasn't been a significant drop in traffic during the pandemic. All said, a great place to mail out your letters and holiday gifts. But that last star can only be awarded if they: - provide free tape when you use priority mail - sell a wider variety of stamps for collectors - have some consistency in the quality of their reps Go here if you are trying to avoid long lines and the virus. read more

I went to this post office post Covid, so when I came here it was completely empty. I can imagine pre Covid it probably gets very crowded being it's inside a big office building. The clerk that assisted me was very polite, professional & helpful. I had asked her a few questions regarding parcels that's sent to office buildings that require a signature, how is that taken care of if the building is closed & she let me know. Going to the post office in a commercial building during Covid is very different than just going to your local post office, because my local post office still gets 1 star from me. Let's be honest, nobody likes to visit the post office. However, I've mostly nothing pleasurable experiences here. The staff is very friendly here--they will crack a joke with you sometimes to lighten the mood. Sometimes the lines here are extremely long here--bits again, it's the post office. Horrible location went to do my passport here I arrived at 2 and during my scheduled time at 2:15 pm there was no one in the passport area after going in line and asking at the window the lady there gave me horrible attitude after asking about the locked passport area. After finding out the person went on break I waited till 2:30 when she finally came back there was a line of 3-4 people including me. She rushed me in and then when I asked her any questions she barely answered or just dismissed them entirely while giving attitude and being rude the whole time . Overall horrible experience I got there on time then she rushed me as fast as she could so she can leave on the dot at 3 which is when the passport service ended so I don't know why she gave me attitude when she wasn't there during the scheduled time and rushed me. This is the only USPS Post Office that was open at midnight on Memorial Day from this point and southward. (Just the self-service areas were open: Automated Postal Center kiosks, parcel and letter dropboxes, and PO Box access). I checked 1 Hanover Pl and the Whitehall St locations - no dice. The hours posted on usps.com incorrectly state the APCs are open 24/7 there. I'm pretty sure the lobby and self-service areas here are open 24/7, despite what's listed on usps.com. (I think those hours refer to the staffed windows only.) I wish everything was conveniently open 24/7 like this place. read more

I came here to get a passport for my newborn. The female clerk named G. Thomas that processed my baby was racist! Upon seeing that we were Asians, she put on a sour face as we approached the desk. When we asked her a question about the process, she wouldn't even let me finish asking before talking over me. When I tried to clarify the question, she talked over me again and tried to assert her experience over me by telling me that she had 20 years experience at the USPS and have not answered a similar question to mine. She made the entire passport application process a total negative experience. She was impatient and pushed my husband and I to hurry up by saying "there's a long line of people behind you waiting" when we were discussing whether to proceed with the application or not because of her attitude. If the postmaster is reading this, reprimand G. Thomas! She's a terrible person and makes people feel like shit on purpose!! read more

Although several years have passed since I last visited this USPS location, my memory of the positive experience I had here remains vivid. While in a long line, I was asked by a postal employee the reason for my visit: did I need stamps; was I here to mail something. I was there to have post cards hand-canceled. The employee explained that she was unsure if the service was provided but she would take the cards, find out, have them hand-canceled, or place them in the mail bin. I was informed by the recipients the cards were hand-canceled. Other than being an architecturally pleasing building, a reason for visiting is the pleasant and prompt service. read more

I love this post office! I'm surprised to see negative reviews. This post office opens at 8AM and closes at 8pm!! It's hard to find a post office that opens before 9am so this post office is perfect. It's a 2 min walk from my office and I can either go in before or after work (I work 9-6) without worrying not being able to make it in time. They also have many booths open. Most post offices have 3 people working but this location has multiple workers so the line goes by super fast! The workers are really nice too. Some of my packages needed more tape and the older lady was kind enough to tape it for me! P.S - this post office is beautiful :) read more

They have a deplorably rude staff here. Was instructed by one lady that I was not allowed to use a pen she "designated" for package pick up only - even though it was the ONLY working pen I found after making my way through three tables where all the pens had dried or were empty of ink. REFILL YOUR DAMN PENS. Then had another staff member raise their voice at me after losing her patience (really a lack of) because the address I put down was off by one number. I get it, these moments can be frustrating in your day to day job but there was no call to act out in the manner she did. And quite frankly she ended by admonishing me about leaving a generic pen in her office window. Your regular can be found in a pack of 100 at Staples pen. Sheesh. Every time I go into this post office, the attendants smile, make jokes & exude kindness. The post office was continuously open & operating throughout the covid crisis. We cannot be thankful enough for these hard working people. I am writing this review to tell you that you can renew your passport at this location only until 2pm. You can only renew it using cash or a money order (no credit or debit cards). I came here to mail out everything that I needed and Eng-Moy (who was at counter 8 when I went) was extremely helpful. She's very knowledgeable about the process and was extremely detail-oriented in making sure that I had all of the documents needed. She made the process very smooth! This location is a rather large office because it serves a majority of the downtown NYC financial district. Although there are 2 sides to the post office where there are teller windows, only 1 side is always serviceable (the right side). The waits like any other post office are usually long due to the lack of teller windows open. However, I recommend people to use the manual kiosks to do all their post office business because that saves A LOT of time whenever you're at a post office. A new addition this post office just made was the opening of a passport center so individuals who are just looking to apply for a passport do not have to wait on the same line as everyone else. One of the days I came to this post office, I did indeed apply for a new passport, and unfortunately the lady at the window was ABSOLUTELY snobby and gave a big time attitude. I asked her a few questions to clarify the application process and she seemed very disinterested in answering. She gave me this expressionless look and stare like "hurry up already". It's hard to have a "pleasant" experience at post offices, but it doesn't help when the postal workers like her give an attitude. read more

I love that this location has good hours. I'm usually able to use the Automated Postal Center & get in and out quickly enough. Had to go here recently because the USPS app lied about the hours of a branch closer to my home. Unlike any other time, though, I had to wait in line because the stamp for something I was mailing didn't print right. Luckily, the person who helped me was able to take care of it. She also commented that the stamp issue is what happens when you replace workers with machines. I still think 90% of the people at my local post office ought to be let go but if they're doing a good job at this location, she & her colleagues certainly shouldn't be laid off. read more

But guess what, as times go on, we give what we get!!! but this place needs an attitude adjustment. God, everyone who works here is absolutely miserable and rude. Today I got a dirty look from the clerk for bringing up a prepaid package. Why, I don't know. I told her it didn't fit in the drop off so I had to bring it up to her. No response, just more dirty looks. Another clerk barked at my mom to please sign her name legibly on the receipt and when she did, the lady yelled at her "what is THAT??" and my mom had to tell her she has a familial tremor in her hands that cause them to shake uncontrollably at all times. No apology from that monster or anything. Long line for window services which moves turtle slow as my lunch break was nearly over. Understaffed comes with the effects of ailing economy. Disappointingly after September 11, 2001 there is no more Philatelic services at 90 Church Street and special postal stamps may not be available for purchase at this location. I was able to purchase one sheet of last year's 2014 Chinese New Year (Horse) postal stamps. As a avid Philatelic my highly coveted postal stamps were still a goal with great ambition yet to be achieved to attain one sheet of 2015 Chinese New Year (Ram) postal stamps. read more

This post office is like a revolving door, moving customers in and out at a great pace. As soon as you walk in, passports are handled on the right. You can drop off envelopes and packages on the left. Straight ahead are the associates behind the multiple open windows who can help with purchases and creating a shipment. It took less than 10 minutes to join the line and request a money order. Even when I had to return three hours later to cancel the money order for a refund, there was no fuss. I really hope that I could give 0 star for this post office. I purchased a stamp from the self service machine but the stamp didn't come out. I print out the payment receipt to proof that I did paid for the stamp, waited on the long line to get someone to help me out because I PAID for my stamp. No one can help me but giving me a run around. Window 6 lady told me to go back to the machine and check again because they print slow, ok, went back there and NOTHING. Then she told me to go to window 11, window 11 lady said they are closing this window. Fine, I went back to window 6 and she told me to check again? Like how many times do I have to check? I don't even hear the sound of printing means it was never print out. They said I'm supposed to stand next to theuu machine and wait for help? Like u got staff out there to help people out with issues? No, there is anybody! I waited for 10 minutes out there next to the machine, no one even bother to help! I ended up getting another stamp for my large envelope, so I paid double for this shit! read more

The lady and guy who always walks around are SUPER NICE and HELPFUL. The extra star is for them. Most of the people at the windows are RUDE. In one occasion, the employee who walks around helping people were not there. I bought the stamps on the machine and just needed the postmarks so I went to Window 12 because that's usually where they do the odd jobs, such as money orders and buying sheets of stamps. The lady in window 12 kept yelling at people who were lining up behind window 12, saying there is one line and demanded us to go on the long line. I said I just needed stamps (my mistake because what I needed was postmark). However, if the employee at window 12 let me explained I would not have to wait an extra 10 minutes just to get my letters postmarked. All I needed is a stamp, proving that I mailed the letters and it takes ONE SECOND. First of all, why would I use the machines if it wasn't faster than the line? If I had known that I need to be on the line to get postmark, I would not have spent time on the machine. The worst thing is after I got on the long line, she continued to help the lady who was standing behind me when I was at window 12. I always have to go to window 12 because the nature of my visit and I have never felt welcome with the lady at window 12. read more

Don't drop off any packages at this location. They will lose it and then after you file a claim, they don't look for it or help you resolve it even after 3 weeks. They also don't scan their packages in properly either as I had a package picked up by them and it was never scanned and they don't do anything about it when it is their workers who are not responsible. read more
