There are UPS and downs. This is one of the UPS. These stores are just too expensive, but this one is pleasant enough and friendly enough, and for that I am grateful. If you need to fax stuff and copy stuff and mail stuff then this is a great location right - next to a lot of other great stores - so I'm definitely a fan, but it's corporate in nature and has annoyingly high prices and those are major drawbacks. Still, a good place for what it does and my copies went through with no issue. There's a bunch of different stores located here in this Plaza, some of which have gone and some which remain, and there are definitely some good businesses for a fairly low rent price, so this is one of the reason we like to come up here when we can. read more

I use UPS stores throughout the Country to ship various cameras and lenses. I have many that I use regularly all across the Country. I am well aware of prices and well aware of the costs. Please if you are reading this before thinking about using UPS store 1656 pay close attention to my review. I purchase most items through Estate auctions or independent sellers who drop off items to UPS stores to be shipped. Rarely do I have any issues and for the most part the average shipping costs can range from as little as $18 for a small lens up to $75 for a full camera bag with cameras lenses etc. I always get a quote prior to giving out my credit card information and I always have items shipped by UPS ground. I contacted this store in Houston store 1656. After an email I received a quote here is the quote "We would be happy to ship your items for you. I will attach the forms that need to be filled out to pick up your pieces. As long as your items fit safely in the 12x12x6 box, the shipping and packing with the declared value of $200 dollars should bring your total to $37.00 before sales tax." While away I purchased 3 additional items( the same amount of items as my original purchase) I advised the store that there would be additional items added to the shipment I also advised that it may take two boxes. A camera body already boxed, another camera body weighing less than two pounds two lenses weighing less than 3 lbs for both and a small viewfinder weighing a few ounces and two lightweight drawstring lens bags which weigh almost nothing These six items would surely fit in two 12"x12"x6" boxes I contacted the auction Company and they were helpful and released my items to the UPS store. They requested a document to get permission to ship my items. They already had the items released to the store! Odd but no big deal. Now comes the strange part. They wanted me to sign a blank release with my credit card info. The UPS store refused to send an invoice without my permission to charge my card. This would give them the ability to charge whatever they wanted without telling me what was being charged. I sent three emails over two weeks asking for a total and they continued to refuse a proper invoice. I assumed double the original estimate of $37 or $74 .plus tax total Then came the red flag Store 1656 refused to send me an invoice and they still have not done so It has been three weeks since the initial estimate. I received an email that said I owe $129.85 considerably more than three times the estimate no invoice no explanation just a number and I still have a blank where the amount should be on the form for my credit card. Why this store refuses to give a proper invoice is very strange My advice is to avoid this store. A form with a blank for the price is suspect I have never dealt with any business that asked to leave the amount blank and continually refuses to provide a proper invoice. A store that asks for a release knowing I sent the release to the auction company and they have already received the items for shipment. I find this entire process to be questionable at best. I am still waiting for an invoice and an explanation I will not allow any company the ability to charge whatever they feel like. This is not some valuable items the entire value is under $400 and the usual price shipping from any other UPS store and I have used dozens all over the country and much farther away should be about $75 Or twice the original estimate of $37 The actual cost of shipping if I packed the items myself and purchased a label is $29.85 I have items the same size and weight and did a mock order online just to check. $100 for packing and processing is extravagant a ridiculous amount And double what any UPS store anywhere charges. This store according to other reviews charges $1 a strip for tape $3 to print a label and gives customers grief. The employees are disrespectful if you can do your own packing you can use Companies like Pirateship Or others where you can do your own packing print your own label and drop off your packages to many UPS counters. Businesses that take advantage and are disrespectful should be blacklisted. read more

I have been here few times in the past. This UPS Store was the only place would accept Amazon return before other retail stores takes them. I came to ship something but I always get hit with an invitation flyer to next door gift shop. It was a Christian store. I went in there once. That was it. Parking situation was horrible. The spots facing Westheimer are prone to accidents as cars pulled in so fast with a blind spot. The spots facing restaurants are not much better because cars cutting through the lot so fast. Last weekend, I almost got hit while I was the only car in the lot. I wanted to rent a mailbox. Employee gave me a flyer with prices. It seems to be reasonable: $65 for 3 months, $115 for 6 months, $230 for a year and $25 setup fee. They also accept all carrier, including FedEx, Amazon and off course UPS. They also have caller service when mail arrived. It was highly desirable because of the convenience and it has an after-hours entrance. But I don't know if I want to interact with the staff. I was also trying to ship back some equipment back to my employer. Staff can't find the account. He asked me to call the number on the instructions, which is to locate the nearest UPS Store. Uh... Local business. The box was OPEN. There was NO HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ONLY A BOOK which the employee would have been able to see had they not been so focused on the sticker. Usually a HAZARDOUS sticker would be indicated with the word HAZARDOUS or a photo that implies hazard rather than a black and white sticker. But again...had he taken the time to look at the contents of the OPEN box, he would have seen the non HAZARDOUS contents and should have been able to simply inform me to remove the sticker so that it could be shipped. Horrible service. First wouldn't accept package because of sticker on the side of the box, that had NO writing or warning label. Box had not been sealed. This is the same box from original delivery by the way. Would not allow me to remove the label to accept the package (told because they could not verify contents of package) - was NOT sealed. No explanation, and the follow up I received seemed like excuses from a 'manager' that seemed reluctant to provide their name. At this location, I just called to asked questions about printing prices before coming in. The lady answering the phone must not know that this is regular customer behavior. I especially didn't want to drag my sick son in. He has a fever and headache. When I asked another question, the older lady on the phone started audibly whining and said "Can you just come in? Please? It's not that hard, just use the machine. All you have to do is look at the screen." I then asked if she could look real quick and tell me the price and she just scoffed and got more irritated. Needless to say, I'm going to Office Depot or Staples. The curly haired associate with glasses knows what's up. I had an amazon return with the option of the UPS store packing it for me. Curly haired dude was not in that day of my return attempt july 18. The old man with the scraggly beard told me I had to box it up. At first he said it would be a dollar to tape up the box Then asked me if something fragile was inside. I said yes, it's glass. I had mason jars I was returning. Then he told me Since it was not in a shipping box, it would be ten dollars to put it in a box. This location helps out a lot when you need things printed, scanned, and faxed. I was in and out with important paperwork that I needed to have printed, notarized, and sent off. The employees were very fast with the oncoming customer flow. Their pricing was very reasonable. It makes it easy for a person who doesn't have a printer or scanner. Located in the same plaza as Daido and Genji. Parking can bit a bit of a hassle. There's only a few parking space in front the UPS but there's more parking around the plaza. Usually when I come in, there's a line but the staff works relatively fast so it isn't too bad of a wait. Most of my packages already have a prepaid label so the process is fast. I'm a regular here, and I gotta say, if it wasn't for a few hardworking employees, this place would have gone dark a long time ago, UPS affiliation or not. The old boss is not a business guy, period. Wow. Just ... wow. Where do I begin: With the owner of this "privately owned" store yelling at me in front of a line of customers to call the UPS customer service line because of a lost package? No returned call about said package? The same owner informing me that my family member "didn't have permission" to send a package to the store addressed to me, when my other family member did the exact same thing and there were no issues? I want to like a mom-and-pop operation like this. But when you have an international brand in your store name (UPS), it should not come as a surprise that customers associate your business with that brand and expect the same level of results. Yes. They charged me $5 to pick up a package sent to me for Christmas by my mom, who had already paid a premium to send it, and wanted to make sure I got it rather than taking a chance on leaving a package on my apartment door step at the holidays. The same owner "waived" the fee for delivering my second package since it was signed for by a store employee on 12/22 and apparently sent to the U.S. Postal Service to become someone else's problem. We filed a claim with UPS, and the package mysteriously appeared back at the store ... on 1/2. When I went to pick it up, I was offered an extended lecture about how they just couldn't figure the whole thing out. Just a simple "we goofed, sorry for the inconvenience, please come again," would have gone a long way towards keeping me from writing this. Never again. And there are plenty of other options, more convenient, probably cheaper, to send a freaking package. read more

This store charge for taping and printing return labels. It's not like couple cent that you don't mind paying but $2 for taping and $3 for printing return labels. I went to return amazon package and this store asked for $5 total to returning my package. This is ridiculous!! Don't come here unless you want to be ABUSED or MISTREATED! This used to be one of my favorite places to come for copying and shipping services. So I had a package shipped here to hold for pick up. However since Bob (Robert Siegrist) has taken over this place this has become a hell hole. When I came in here, everything seem to be in chaos. I wasn't properly greeted. I just got a stare from an employee who later slowly approached the counter. Everything seem to be all scattered. I told him I wanted to pick up a package. Then Mama Bosslady (Mrs. Siegrist) comes to the front and asked me "What do you NEED?!?" Her question was more like a demand so I frozed and later told her I am here to pick up a package. She wasn't able to find my package in their computer. A line started forming, I saw 4 people behind me. Being courteous, I stepped aside and asked Mama Bosslady to help the others because I knew this was going to be a long day for me. She said, "NO! You stay there! Everything she said was a demeanoring tone as if I am some low life form. I looked back again and this time I saw 6 people behind me. So I politely stepped aside then once again Mama Bosslady demanded I stay in line! Next thing I knew, she started counting....1....2.....3.....then she started huffing and puffing, "You guys are taking too long to get up here!" She was treating her employees like KIDs! Most of the young employees seem to fear their boss. They were hesitant in responding. I felt disgusted being here. Everything the Bosslady did was rude and demenoring to me and to her employees. Later she started yelling at her employee that lost my package. It appears that this store gave my package to the wrong person. I was unhappy with the whole situation. I was being treated like a dog. I was missing lunch to pick up my package. I was falling behind schedule for my weekend because I planned on leaving town. At one point, I lost it. I was very upset with how I am being treated and the fact that they lost my package. Not one point was she sympathetic or apologetic. After letting the Mama Bosslady know I was pissed with this whole ordeal, she was very vindicative. She told me to leave or she will call the police. In NO Way was I threatening her or anyone. I can't understand her logic to this. She then said, "I AM GOING TO SHIP IT BACK TO THE SENDER. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT?" So they lost my package and this is how they deal with their MISTAKE?!? I had to call UPS to resolve this. I was worried sick about my expensive package over the weekend. This basically ruined my weekend getaway. Monday came and UPS convinced the owner Bob (Robert Siegrist) to hold the package for me. Again I had to miss lunch to pick up my package. The first thing Bob did was yell at me, "You are LUCKY, I am holding YOUR package! DON'T you EVER use my store unless you have my permission! Wow GREAT customer service, Bob! I was about to explain why I didn't do that. Bob, being a hostile overweight rude owner, interrupted me and TOLD me not to speak a word until he finishes. I stood there and took his abuse. Once he got done, I explained to him that I tried to call several times but I was put on hold for over 30 minutes. I also explained to him that I tried to leave a message after hours but they DON'T HAVE an ANSWERING MACHINE! Bob gave me all these excuses and blamed me for the whole situation. He also demanded me not to ever leave a complaint about his store. I don't need this form of abuse nor do I like it when employees are disrespected. Most places will at least make an attempt to service their customer, this place showed a complete indifference. I had a UPS package redirected because I could not be home, thinking it would be quicker at UPS store that is near my work. I went to pick up the package that was confirmed to be "received" by the UPS site, and the employee simply told me she was too busy to look for it. I was thrown off as I am not used to this type of bad service and when she saw my look, she said she would get the owner to tell me the same. Owner shows up and she tells him "tell this customer that I don't have time to look for his package," at which he simply agreed and said I needed to come back at another time. There was nobody behind me in line and I saw maybe 20 boxes? Maybe the employee doesn't know that all she has to do is look at the packing slip and not pick up and move every single box. I have had a UPS box here for about 10 years and love the ability to have stuff shipped here instead of my home. If you need a mailbox for a small business - which was why I got one here - or you travel and ship things back home - like we do a lot - or just want an address to send things to that is not your home address I highly recommend this UPS Store. At the UPS Store it is not a PO Box so a lot more places will ship to you if you buy online. You will notice many stores will not ship to PO Boxes but they will ship to a UPS box. The folks at the UPS Store will sign for things for you so you don't have to wait at home for items. You know you won't have stuff stolen off your porch too! The staff hasn't changed much in the years I've been getting mail here. They are competent, courteous and quickly learn regular customers names and box numbers. I get a discount in their gift shop in the back and buy a lot of greeting cards there. I have used their shipping services many times when I have items that I want shipped with insurance or signatures and tracking numbers. It can be more expensive than the USPS but I like the personal help in filling out the paperwork and packing it up correctly. You rarely - ok, never - get that at the post office. They have fax service, copy service, shipping needs like tape and cute padded mailing envelopes. Parking when the other businesses in the strip center get busy can be difficult and it is a very busy intersection so sometimes it takes a while to get in and out of the parking lot. Even when they are busy they seem to get you in and out pretty quickly. I like getting an email when a large package arrives for me to come get too. If you live in this area and need an additional address for anything I would certainly recommend this location. There is also a yelp offer for 6 months free on a box. I plan on cashing that puppy in next year and save $90! read more

Overall, bad customer service. Rude. I never write reviews but I'm so unhappy I had to. I usually drop my usps boxes here, I ship the same size boxes at least 2-3 times a week at this location. Today they refuse to accept my usps boxes stating that it's too big and that they no longer have room. They were very rude about it and very unprofessional. I feel like they're just being lazy. The gentleman that was at the front counter was very polite and trying to keep things going. The lady working there 9/17/18 at 8:30 am was very rude. I wanted my package to go ground and she told me "you don't have a choice, it's going over night", and did not explain why. This is after I went up to the front desk, she was to the side, because I thought the gentleman would help me. She said "he can't do anything, I'm the only one that can". I felt really bad for the other employee that she treated that way. People don't have to be treated that way so I won't be a return customer. When I asked the UPS store representative to help me tape up some boxes she said there is a charge of $1 per strip of tape, per box or I have the option to buy some tape. I have never heard anything more ludicrous given this is a shipping store. She also said "this one time I am willing to help you and keep in mind for next time I won't be able to". I looked at her with my mouth open wide and at a loss for words. I have been to a few UPS stores and must say this one I will not return! I walked right in, there were other customers being helped but they saw I had my package all ready so they took it from me and made sure I had a receipt for proof of mailing.
