I recently visited the UPS Store to return a well-packed lamp for Amazon. Despite my careful packaging, the box was not taped shut (to accommodate potential additional items). I was shocked when the store employee informed me that I would have to pay for packing next time because the box was not taped. This despite the fact that the lamp was already securely packed. The employee insisted that they charge for packing, claiming it was store policy. I explained that I had packed the lamp myself and simply needed the box taped shut, but they "warned" me that next time I will need to pay the packing fee. This experience left me feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. This incident highlights a broader issue with the UPS Store's policies, which seem designed to extract additional fees from customers rather than prioritize their needs. As a business customer who spends north of $50M annually with UPS, I was particularly disappointed by this lack of customer focus. The UPS Store needs to reevaluate its policies and prioritize customer service over nickel-and-diming. If they want to maintain strong partnerships with businesses like mine, they need to ensure that their customers feel valued and respected, not exploited. EPIC FAIL! To be honest, I don't understand the negative reviews. I've been using their services for quite some time now, and I actually regret not leaving a review sooner. Tasha, the manager, has always been incredibly gracious and accommodating--especially when it comes to their printing services. Their prices are very reasonable, and there was even a time when I needed just a couple of documents printed and they didn't charge me because it was such a small job. I came in today to return an Amazon order error. The attendant, a skinny bearded man with an accent, was extremely rude throughout the transaction. I struggled to get the giant box out of my car, 5 months pregnant, and when I got inside he was short with me that I left the lid on the box un-taped. I explained that I left if open so that he could verify what was in the box, as I had done many times. He rudely told me that was not his job and that I could not return the item without my own tape, he forced me to buy the $5 tape (a rip off for the smallest roll of tape on the shelf) he had or I would have to leave and return another time with a fully taped box. There was one seam to be taped. If this is where customer service has gone, UPS should be ashamed. I have never had this issue at any other location. I will NOT be returning. I was just charged $5 a sheet to get an 8.5 x 11 sheet laminated. That is double the price that FedEx charges in gurnee. The lady askedmme what thickness. I said your thinest sheet. First and last time using this location which is a shame since it is right around the corner (moved here a week ago). Had to return my AT&T equipment and the man at the counter could not have been more unpleasant and appeared to be beyond annoyed. Hey I didn't make the agreement with AT&T that their equipment could be dropped off free of charge to the consumer..The receipt he printed me was ridiculous, font soo large that only a 3rd of the info printed on it. I have been at this location two times this week. Each time was worse than the other! On my first visit the man helping me was not friendly or welcoming. He actually seemed aggravated by my Amazon return, as it took me a while to pull up the return codes. etc. AND since I didn't have a return envelope, I was charged $4 for a small box. Ok - I understand that they have to cover their costs. I wasn't too bothered by this and moved on. Today, however, I went back to this location and was met my a young lady who seemed as disinterested, but not as "bothered". My problem and the reason for my crappy review is this: They charged me $2.15 for "PRINTING OFF MY RETURN LABEL" and another $2.00 for "TAPE". They taped a SHOE BOX and she didn't tell me BEFORE checking me out that I would be charged?? BAD CUSTOMER REALATIONS 2 X'S IN A WEEK?? This UPS store is very customer service oriented. I had a special print order and I was able to list all of my specifications in an email. A quick comment regarding the reviewer who said that the UPS Store employee seemed unhappy. My guess is that was Tim, the owner, and he is definitely a bit stoic. But irrespective of who it was - who cares if he was "unhappy?" What was the service like? This is a family owned UPS Store. Tim and his staff provide great service, and quickly too. I really like the small town feeling here, and doing business with people I know! A full service copy/print center, they can send and receive faxes for you and handle all your UPS shipping needs. And check out their very competitive rates on personal or business mail boxes. They accept deliveries from all major carriers, too. I never have to worry that my deliveries will be left unattended on my front porch. read more

Attention attention: this store just charged me $6 to use their tape in order to tape up my boxes. They handed me the tape gun when I asked for some tape, didn't tell me I would be charged for using it, let me use it, and then after I was done told me I needed to pay for it. A three pack of tape roll at office max is $8. I used a few pieces and was charged $6. Mind you - I've went to many other UPS locations and have never been charged for my tape. Round lake location and other Chicago locations do not charge for tape. The people here clearly will try to charge you for anything, I'm sure they up the shipping fee on people from this instance alone. read more

Horribly upset to find the usual staff that has taken care of me for years has been let go. Only to find new owners, new staff and all unknowledgeable and unsure of themselves. I will never ship here again. I do not trust shipping a valuable item with a clerk who had to stop and start continually. The person could not multi task to save their life. Nearly every work day for the past eight years I have stopped in to the UPS Store in Grayslake. I receive all of my business packages there. I am always treated with both courtesy and professionalism. Even when they are busy with people lined up to the door I'm always greeted when I arrive and the same thing happens to customers that I've never seen before. Tim (owner) and Richelle (manager) have always set my packages aside when I've been away and I find them neatly stacked. Space is at a premium and if I'm in training for a week the packages do stack up and I really appreciate their patience.
