Came in today to ship my order and overheard the worker being rude to a customer. I felt bad for her and almost asked for a manger. The lady was apparently giving the customer a hard time with packing and shipping. When the lady left she looked at me sad and hurried out embarrassed. I'm in this store, often, and each and every time I'm consistently impressed by Barbara and her patience. I've seen her working alone with a long line of customers and never seen her frustrated, not even once. I see the store is hiring so I'm guessing they are short staffed. I was in line for quite a while just to drop off my used cell phone in a Verizon return box as I wanted a receipt. The clerk said I needed a Hazardous material sticker (UN3481) on the box and told me that would cost $.99. I didn't have my wallet with me (since it was just a dropoff) so couldn't ship it. After investigating it seems the stickers are supposed to be free. This store charges for required stickers, UPS mailing envelopes, and other items that other UPS stores do not. An FYI - you can purchase a roll of 500 UN3481 stickers online for $38, which is 7 cents per sticker - quite a markup at 99 cents...... read more

This UPS store use to be my go to location, but now there's a new Gal named Barbara who works there and she is awful. She is extremely rude and goes out of her way to be very unkind and not friendly. All the people they have had work there have been amazing until they hired this gal. It goes to show how one person can ruin a place. The pack and ship services is fantastic. Guaranteed. Boxes, inserts, filling, bubble wrap is available. The fax/printing services is easy, quick and affordable. Stationary is available. Service is great. Very professional and helpful. The only set back is it is a very small, cluttered location. Bigger store is definitely needed. read more

They didn't send off a package that I sent my great grandbabies last Christmas. I didn't hear anything from these yahoos until April 13, 2024. Then they destroyed said box because I've moved out of state and couldn't get a notice from them. Even though I've given them my cell number I don't know how many times. I am a notary and I off document shipments daily, at various UPS, USPS, and FedEx locations. I AVOID this store for several reasons. This is THE ONLY UPS store I have ever experienced, where you are expected to PURCHASE your UPS envelope. Yes, you heard me correctly. This store charges you for the envelope. So on top of the charge for shipping, they will charge you $3.99 plus tax, for their otherwise FREE envelopes. I have yet to visit a Fedex or UPS, besides the Atascadero UPS Store, who has the audacity to charge for an envelope. I would stay clear of this store. read more

Every time I go in there they have been so friendly but today they were especially friendly. Moe (not sure if I misspelled-apologies if I did) even helped me grab boxes out of my car! What great customer service. I'm a new Mom with a 3 mo old and couldn't carry all of it and he was just so sweet about the situation. Also the woman working with him today was lovely as can be. I'll be doing all of my shipping here in the future. All of these rude reviews seem like a personal problem. Don't be in such a rush and maybe have a little patience when places are busy. The employee working at this ups location wouldn't keep her mask on, only briefly pulling it up when I was at the counter. The additional employee behind the counter didn't wear their mask at all, setting a precedent for other maskless customers. I paid $15 to send a business envelope document, It didn't arrive and was declared lost by UPS. UPS customer service told me to take my information to the shipping store and they would file a claim. The UPS Atascadero store told me they are a private business, Not UPS, and it was up to me to take care of any problems online. And they wouldn't ship a new document without full payment. I went to the UPS shipping center in San Luis Obispo, they shipped the new document at no charge and indicated the Atascadero store should have done the same. The Atascadero clerk had a bad attitude all the way around. I'm thinking I'll take my business elsewhere since they don't honor the UPS brand. read more

Not sure if the person I dealt with is the owner but man what a bad experience! I went in to return a product to Verizon in a Verizon return kit. The man at the counter asked what was in the box and when I said a phone he said it needed to have a battery label on it? I told him it was a Verizon return kit box? he claimed it still needed the label? He got a label handed it to me and when I put in on the box, he said it would be 99 cents! I took the label off handed it back and left after sharing my displeasure with his business practice. I called Verizon told them what happened they apologized. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. New owners are trying very hard. Either the mean, rude, maskless, unhelpful employees quit or were fired, so as of last week of March 2021 the store is short staffed. New people were helpful and apologetic to the 3 out of 4 customers ahead of me in line each of whom mentioned the previous poor service and dissatisfaction. We went into UPS website and had a package delivered to this store instead of to our home due to the rain. We have done this before without problem. This time however the attendant said that there should be an added charge, even though I had already paid online. She seemed very frustrated with the whole pickup. Told me passive aggressively three separate times that she is moving as fast as she could. I had not said anything to her to prompt this, was just standing there perusing tiktok. I was doing just fine. Just felt weird that she kept barking that at me. When she went to say it again, in her obviously annoyed voice, I had to tell her - "mam, the only reason I am here now is because we received a message from you saying that it was ready to be picked up." No reason to get so cranky about me showing up to pick it up. If you aren't ready, then don't send the message. She said she wouldn't charge that time, but because I am not a box holder and they do not have space, that they will charge. I had redirected a delivery a few weeks ago and didn't go through any of this. This delivery option is offered on UPS.com as a feature the UPS stores offer. I paid online for it. If this store is unable to accommodate re-directed shipments, then they should notify UPS that they cannot perform all of the UPS store duties as advertised. Or at least keep policies consistent week to week. read more

Since ownership has changed the customer service at UPS Atascadero has diminished. I'm constantly getting other clients mail, and have been handed someone else's package or claim tag to sign and walk off with. So that makes me wonder if they are doing that to me as well. Accuracy counts. When repeating an address for clarification, please don't turn it into a hundred, or thousand or whatever. Let's just state the numbers one at a time. I bring it up because it took 4 times to get the address correct, due to the clerk trying to abbreviate the number. NO, YOU CANT DO THAT - IT MAKES THE WRONG NUMBER. SERIOUSLY? Next bit of business, I have a tiny package to send. (slightly larger than an envelope) What is the cheapest method to send? She tells me $10.89. It will get there tomorrow. I said it can get there next week, no rush. Still $10.89 is the cheapest. WAIT A MINUTE! What if I put a bunch of stamps on it, can you tell me how many stamps I need? That will be $1.09. SERIOUSLY? Isn't that cheaper than $10.89 by A LOT????!!! I am appalled at these 2 incidents within 10 minutes. I will go to other UPS stores where I have not seen such a lapse in common sense. The employees don't wear masks, and have attitude about it. Unfortunately, elderly people have to come in to the store and consideration for them should be of utmost importance. Customer service is extremely slow, they are overwhelmed. More employees are needed and all should be wearing a mask when customers are in the store. I have been a box holder for 8 years. They are under new ownership and didn't keep a single prior employee. I understand it may take a while to get in the groove of how a business runs, but my recent experiences go beyond that. Living in a small town, you get used to people being friendly and making efforts for customers. I ignored not being greeted, not having my mail on time, phones being answered while i was at the counter in the process of being helped, not having access to my charge account, much longer wait times, and the lack of kindness. What i couldn't ignore was being charged to have a delivery "stored" when my contract clearly stated that there is a $0.00 charge for holding deliveries. Ive not once been charged in the last 8 years nor was i notified that this was going to change. But, in their words, they "are allowed to do what they want". After being denied a refund of the fee and not being able to get them to understand the legality of a contract, I decided to make a complaint. Instead of trying to remedy the situation, the new owners decided to terminate my box without notification. I went to pickup my mail and deliveries and was told I can longer have it. But i can pay them to forward mail. If i had another place to receive mail i would not have continued to use them! Look at the other reviews on this store...many other people have had issues with this store. But I feel a need to be detailed as this treatment and unprofessionalism is unacceptable in a small town. (Janet-owner: please get new employees that handle things differently if you want better feedback and reviews) There is some strange power tripping going on at this particular store in Adobe Plaza, Atascadero. I have NEVER had trouble at any other UPS store or w a driver ever before. Several weeks ago my husband went to do a delivery there and he said nobody was wearing a mask. I called on the phone and asked why was nobody wearing a mask. It seems that the people who work here ALL HAVE MEDICAL REASONS for why they don't have to wear masks. I have asked why and that is what I am told. Today for some reason they have a package that should have been sent to my address. I called this store and asked if they had it which is a solid yes. I asked if they could bring it to the door of their store when I come to get it?... They said "no because you have to sign for it, which must be done on the terminal". I asked how long they have had it and the gal said three days. She said that they have to send it back at 7 days. Here it gets even weirder...she said they have to send it back at 7 days even if I give them a heads up that I am coming to get it. She said she will get "fired" if they keep it longer than 7 days. I asked how long they have it and she said 3 days. That was an outright lie according to the computer today was the 7th day and they would have returned it TODAY. After calling several corporate phone numbers and getting stuck on phone trees I finally got a man that said they can deliver it. Another customer service rep AT THE SLO HUB said that I could get it delivered and she would arrange that for me. Nobody knows why it did not get deliver last Monday to begin with. I called the company who sent the box to me. This sending company said they don't require a signature. So there is another lie. Something is wrong with these people and they definitely don't put their customers concerns ahead of their need to be right and some strange need to This store and the gals that work here as of this month are real! I have asked for the manager, Jessica, who is unavailable both times I have called with concerns. Yes I take wearing a mask seriously! What if I don't get symptoms but I'm a carrier to others who then get the illness. Yes I want people to take this wearing a mask thing seriously. But going out of your way to refuse to carry the box to the door (ever heard of curb side delivery folks?)and lying about when it must be sent back -- that is a whole new level of bad customer service and selfishness in action in my opinion. I try to accommodate my customers needs. I have been wearing a mask and so has my employees since 3/15/2020 on the days we are open. I believe it helps save lives and I have several health issues that makes this even more important to protect myself and others. The lying about needing a signature and when it would be sent back - today! - if I did not come get it ... AND also lying about it needing a signature ... we'll frankly I hope she gets fired for lying that! I stopped in to ask about mailbox services ... and was stunned to see that three of the four people in the store were completely maskless -- including both of the employees (all the while talking very animatedly). It's unclear whether this obvious lack of consideration is due to ignorance, arrogance, or ideology -- probably a combination. (Perhaps tellingly, they're right next to "Republican Headquarters" -- that's the one with all the flags waving, in case you somehow missed it.) I've used other UPS Stores which have been wonderful. But if you value your health, I'd avoid this one. They presumably wouldn't think twice about sharing with you ... anything that might happen to be going around. :/ read more

I would not recommend this UPS Store. Cheyenne was unhelpful and jumped to conclusions when I inquired how other Verizon subscribers dealt with a lack of internet service in the store. If this is a known issue with the largest internet service in the world then I would hope this store would figure out a workaround. read more

Came in to buy stamps. The Post Office was closed, the UPS Store was open. The lady working the desk was nice and served us well. They do charge more than face-value for stamps here, we paid $2 more per book of 10 stamps then we would have at the Post Office. It's annoying, but, the convienience of buying stamps later after the Post Office is closed is what you're paying for. You're always welcome to wait and buy stamps tomorrow when the Post Office is open :) I've been in a time or two before as well to drop off some packages and they've always been nice enough, though it can get busy and backed up. read more

Was dropping off an Amazon return and the woman in front of me was doing the same. The owner told her she would not accept the return because her box wasn't good enough and tried to sell her a box. The woman couldn't believe it and took it to the paso location. The box was perfectly fine and just needed some tape and it was the same box from Amazon. It was then my turn and the owner told me the same thing. The box I was returning came from Amazon the day before and there was a small hole that just needed tape. The owner is extremely rude and I will not be doing business with them anymore. You will know who she is by the real curly hair. read more
