I want to take a moment to recognize Dante( I hope I got his name right) at the post office for going truly above and beyond to help me. My package was accidentally delivered to the wrong address. After making several attempts to get in contact with the person who had received it, Dante personally went to the address, retrieved my package, and then hand-delivered it to me at my place of employment. That kind of dedication and customer service is rare these days. It's really good to know there are still people out there who genuinely care and are willing to go the extra mile to help someone. This is the third time a postal worker said they delivered something to my house when he never stepped out of his truck or onto my property to try and deliver it. His name is ,ac Payne and if my package is somehow lost, I'm going to the police to file a report with the video from my cameras. I hate thieves I've been waiting over a month for it to arrive. They constantly mis-deliver packages to the wrong address in my neighborhood. One carrier we have seems unable to bend over and literally drops our packages at the door, ifhe can actually manage to match the address numbers on the package. He dropped a case of dog food and broke some cans open last month. I've been expecting an important package and their tracking showed that it came to the Atascadero post office, then went to the Cambria post office where it sat for 2 days before ping ponging between Santa Barbara, Santa Clarita, Sanata Barbara, now it's in Oxnard. The level of incompetence is staggering. I contacted USPS while the package was still in Cambria. They said we'll get back to you in 3 days. read more

Package delivery is poor. The last package was left at the far end of my long driveway in the rain. By the time I found it, it was soaked and damaged. Packages should be left under my covered porch. read more

PO Boxes are way too expensive, mail is always late, and in several cases "delivered" just not to the right person.

Lady was super nice. No long lines at 420 pm which was nice. Parking lot is pretty good size, and can park big truck pretty easily. Drive thru mail boxes for those who do not want to go in. read more

I have lived here for 40 years and have always respected the services I have received at our local post office here in Atascadero. A package I was expecting to receive in March never came and when I tracked it, the package had been delivered to another town in California. I tried calling the Helendale post office several times that week but never got past the recording. Therefore, I went to our Atascadero post office and the young man that helped me went above and beyond expectations. After he made phone calls and emails to their PO, he called me to let me know my package would be sent here! I am grateful to this young man. His service was exceptional!! read more

They lock the outside mail boxes so you do have to go in if the delivery you are dropping is after 5pm. Is kind of bad when you go there with children and need tondrop something off cause you have to get them all out of the car. The office itself is always busy during day that's why I hate going but I do anyways. read more

I would've given a 5 Star I had a really bad customer experience with the lady in the lady glasses. She was rude. Talking for like 10 mins when I arrived at the line with a customer just talking like friends. I think she thought I was stupid because I'm young, but I requested my package to be picked up and it updated online; the delivery driver tried delivery of my package anyways. I'm giving a 5 Star to Enrique. He has exceptional customer service. Remembered me understood what I was dealing with and made me feel a lot better going back to USPS. Go to him. This is our local post office and every time I've been here, the clerks are very efficient. I don't think I've had to wait more than 10 minutes tops on a very busy day as opposed to waiting for a half hour or more in places like Long Beach or New York which can get pretty crazy. Lazy USPS drivers for Amazon delivery. They prove out all the negative stereotypes that letter carriers have. I was scheduled to have a fuel tank delivered from Amazon. The driver leaves a note that it was "oversized" in the mail box. No shyt Sherlock . It's a fuel tank for a truck. Just drive the 1/10 mile down the driveway and leave the package like UPS, FedEx and OnTrac do several days a week. Just to be clear, the regular "during the week" letter carrier does a great job. It's the losers that do the Amazon stuff on weekends that couldn't hold any job besides a government job so that's where they land. read more

I so disappointed with the service. I mail my taxes on May 30th and as of today they have not arrived and it's been almost two weeks, (paid for a tracking number). The office gives you a paper to go online to summit a "where my mail" form. This was two days ago and have not heard from them. There is no acceptability on there side. I normally don't bother submitting complaints. But today I received a notice from Amazon saying my order was delivered and it in my mailbox. Note: I'm home, I go out there and there is no package just a letter from the DMV in my box. First of all the item is to big to fit my mail box. What is going on!!?? The people inside the post office are nice and helpful. However, whomever the carrier is who delivers our mail is terrible. Always stuffing things into our mailbox that don't fit which has ruined a few items we've ordered. Also multiple times a supposed delivery attempt fail we've been home the entire time. Also gone days without mail then all of a sudden we will get tons at once. Not sure if they are overwhelmed or lazy but damaging packages and not delivering mail is the opposite of the purpose of being a postal service. read more

Delivery is crap. We moved here last year from SLO, and I still work in SLO, so I never have time/chance to go into the post office in person. My review therefore strictly refers to the couriers of the local USPS. We have lock mailboxes and two locked package boxes, just your typical variety neighborhood lockbox. The courier consistently either: 1) doesn't deliver 2) doesn't try to re-deliver even with the slip returned per instruction 3) will send back said package as "undeliverable" after one supposed attempt 4) REGULARLY misplaces the package lock key in the wrong mailbox, assuming they actually delivered it to the box 5) works only when you leave a note pointing out their multiple possible errors in your mailbox for them. Unfortunately, there's really nothing we can do since a PO box wouldn't solve their couriers, and our workplace doesn't allow for personal deliveries. So, we're stuck with this staff. At least Lance at the office seems to have both hemispheres of his brain functioning. read more

This post office is unbelievably awful. Whenever my regular mail carrier would go on vacation my mail would not be delivered. It was either returned to sender or just held at the post office for a week or two at a time. When I would go in, the staff would act like this was business as usual. Never an apology, or even the slightest surprise that post office was derelict on the one job it exists to do. My office (next door to the post office) mail kept being delivered to the wrong company in our building. I left a note inside our mailbox with the name of our company, but this did nothing. I put the note on the outside of the mailbox with a large note that covered all the mailboxes informing the carrier of our correct box. In the month since then we have recieved exactly zero pieces of mail. I left a note for the carrier to contact me. He took it down and neither contacted me nor delivered my mail. I went to the office and they nonchalantly looked for my mail (apparently month long lapses in service are standard there) and didn't find it, so they took my info to contact the carrier. read more

I tried to be upbeat but the woman was so rude to me it was appalling. Telling me I didn't label correctly, treating me like an idiot when I had a question, then she messed up the billing and I didn't say a word. It's a post office, not an SAT testing center. A new LOW for the postal workers that work at the post office. Their way of life is paid for by us and we are subjected to harassment via mail-is tampered with DAILY. Had a Poshmark order supposedly going to Norco, Ca. The label was removed and it was sent to a friend in Bishop, Ca.....INEPTITUDE and harassment beyond measure. Guess all government agencies like to target certain people. So much for me supporting "vital workers" at the post office. SHUT IT DOWN! I have nothing but terrible experiences at this post office. The lady that I had to deal with today was one of the rudest people I've met. The management isn't much better. They were unprofessional, slow, and must find joy in ruining people's day. All I wanted was help with a package that they lost, and all they could do was rudely tell me that I was S.O.L. and they didn't care, it was my problem and I had to figure it out. There's a super old lady here with white hair that's there EVERY time I come to the post office. She is incredibly rude and irritable and always gets on my case about putting the label on the "wrong side of the box". Guess what, both sides of the box look exactly the same, so who cares?? Absolutely horrible. These people actually lost my kids package. When i asked about it, the person went in the back to check and then i was told to get the tracking # (which i had with me) and to call back and raise hell the next day. So i called back, and was told once again to get the tracking #. After explaining that i have it,gave it to one of their employees already, went online (where it said the last place it was tracked was to their post office), i was told that they would investigate the matter(for a 2nd time). A month had passed and i asked my mail carrier about the package...and the first thing she says is get the tracking #. Sooo i gave her the # and my cell #. She said she would get to the bottom of the issue and call me. That was 2 months ago. The missing package was due to arrive in Feb...that was including like a month grace period. It is now June. The Post Office in Atascadero is completely useless...use one of the others in the surrounding cities read more

I am not trust this post office delivering. They always deliver letters to wrong places. They can not tell " 6" and " 0". They delivered my neighbor's letters to my place twice, delivered my letter to my neighbor once. Besides, my husband green card was lost because they delivered it to my previous address, which I already request changing address online. Right now, my husband has to spent extra money to reapply green card. My daughter's green card is coming, I don't know if I can get it. Hope they don't deliver to wrong place again. read more

I believe that 4 Stars for a governmental agency is the equivalent of a 5 star review for private businesses. This is one of the most efficient post offices that I have ran into. Every December I go to the post office to mail gifts over seas. Every time I go I get the same postal worker...the older lady all the way to the left. It doesnt how many times I fill out the custom form...I am always given attitude and told that its wrong. Its getting to the point that I would rather buy a boat and paddle my way across the atlantic to deliver the box. I recommend everyone use the nice Templeton post office instead.
