I'll start off by saying I am not vegan so this isn't my top option of food choices, but it was enjoyable. We always love coming to Barnone and usually take a trip to the brewery and occasionally the pizza place here but have always been interested in trying The Uprooted Kitchen and, well today was that day. At the end of Barnone you'll find Uprooted Kitchen with long community style seating as well as an outdoor patio. The staff was all friendly and there was a variety of vegan food options to choose from, most ranging around the $13 mark. The menu is split into three segments: Cereal, Sweet, and Savory. We got the tempeh breakfast sandwich and veggie burger from the savory portion of the menu. We really enjoyed the tempeh breakfast sandwich and found there was plenty of flavor and it was easy to eat. It comes with a side salad, which the dressing was delicious and a smashed potato. The veggie burger was fine but it wasn't outrageously flavorful or bold it was a bit plain to be honest. It also came with the side salad and delicious dressing. We sampled the iced Chai Tea and loved it! Overall, this place is unique and there are plenty of food options. I thought the prices were a bit high for what you get, but if you are vegan and this is what you have - it is probably pretty delicious and worthwhile. The chickpea scramble made my breakfast dreams come true! My husband had the Tempeh breakfast sandwich. I would highly recommend that choice too. We often get questioned from our meat loving friends how "we do it"...not eating meat.... well this place is exactly how we do it! The food was so good, so tasty, and well presented. As I was out of the office traveling for work it was lunchtime. So, I took to Yelp and started looking to for the closest Vegan restaurant in the area, this is the first place that popped up. To my surprise, this place had 5 stars with 84 great reviews so you know I had to stop in for a bite. I walked up to the register and was greeted by the 2 owners. They were very nice and I explained this was my first time here. He walked me through the menu and told me their story. As I looked the through the menu I decided to go with the black bean burger with potatoes. As I sat and waited for my food I watched other getting their food and I grew excited, it all looks so good. When my plate arrived I was eager to eat. The black bean burger was amazing and their potatoes were yummy. This is by far one of my new favorite vegan spots. The service was great and so was the food. I can't wait to stop in again when I'm in the area! I just wish it was so far from downtown! read more

First off, long before I went to Agritopia Farm's Gilbert Market, I was following Uprooted Kitchen on Instagram, desperately hoping for an opportunity to try it out. It was everything I hoped it would be! I am vegetarian, though I eat very little dairy, so this place is perfect for me. I got the Un-Bun Veggie Burger and it was delicious. All of the ingredients were fresh. It is nice being able to go out and get a meal you feel is actually healthy! I was sad that the peanut butter cups were sold out, they look amazing. Recently, however, a couple carnivore friends tried the beet burger and sweet potato fries only to be very disappointed. To help folks transition away from beef, couldn't you offer Impossible or Beyond burgers? Also why are your fries soggy? To eat here with a group beware: this is not fast food and less adventurous eaters may not like the options. On the plus side (as the nearby Joes Farm grill gets crowded with long lines and noise) the Uprooted Kitchen is a haven where conversation is possible even for folks with hearing aids. read more

As newly converted vegans the restaurant options are extremely limited. When we discovered Uprooted Kitchen we were excited because of the location. Not only is their food amazing, but they are extremely nice individuals. After you go, you want to come back. Whether you want to eat there, take out or go sit at the neighboring wine bar to eat, you will always enjoy the meal and experience. We have had several items and most recently the bean burger and German chocolate bar were delightful. Make sure you get dessert!! I just tried this place after seeing all of the good reviews and I agree with all of them.

I wish I lived nearby so I could try and review more than just one item, but the buckwheat crepe alone was awesome enough to earn those five stars. I also loved the ambiance--being right in the middle of the farm and eating outside right next to the same micro greens that I had on my plate. I am not a vegan, but am on a really strict diet for fertility reasons, so it was really nice to know that I didn't have to worry about corn-fed (endocrine-disrupting pesticide-laiden) meat or dairy full of hormones. Unfortunately the lack of protein made me legit hangry by the end of my long lunch. But I respect their vegan values in doing their vegan thing and was just grateful to have somewhere fertility-friendly where I could go to be social. read more

This place is hands down the best place to eat! I mainly eat plant-based and I have a gluten allergy so I always come here because most of their kitchen is plant based and gluten free! I am out in Gilbert every 3 months or so and ALWAYS make it a point to stop in for lunch and/or a snack from their pastry case. This cute little spot is right next to The Coffee Shop. It's a small casual spot that's open for breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. They always have a gorgeous stocked pastry case full of scones, cookies, bread, etc. it's drool worthy. It is completely vegan and has plenty of gluten free options. Vegan or not, this spot is a must try! I have had their savory crepes multiple times (fillings change weekly) and it's always so satisfying and filling. I have also had their "cereal" bowl with their house made crackers that are so yummy! And I can never leave without getting a pastry to go. They also have a great tea, coffee and kombucha menu. The owners are always working and are so friendly and pleasant! This is a family owned business, service is always with kindness. The food is absolutely outstanding. Their tempeh sandwich and their strawberry, banana, peanut butter, cashew creme crepes are my favorite menu items. They are both out-of-this-world amazing and they are healthy. Very cute space with a cool logo. This is one of many restaurants/stores in this hangar so be sure to look around the space, aka BarNone. The food menu is very creative and delish. Love the lightness and freshness of the food. I had the cauliflower, chickpea scramble and was very impressed. The meal maintained some of the crunchiness of the vegetables without any of the mush that comes from over cooking and included a side salad that was very good as well. Suffice it to say, the serving size was enormous yet I ate it all. Adding a bit the jalapeño sauce gave a much appreciated spicy kick to the flavor. I am delighted to write this review and equally delighted to have stumbled upon this hidden gem! I actually live about thirty minutes from Gilbert in Scottsdale and was lucky enough to have found this place! First off, if you haven't been to this area of the Valley, I urged you to come! There is a beautiful community garden across the street and literally uproots you from the mundane suburbia into a rich fertile oasis of organic living! The actual restaurant itself is in a refurbished barn! It's super modern and very comfortable and inviting! Lots of young people and families around uniting and working! So cool!! I ordered the tempe burger with a homemade potatoe bun and side salad. Wow, the dressing on the salad was soooo yummy! The entire meal was so fresh and enticing! The food was super easy to digest and I left feeling satiated within my cells! Both the owners were working with their family and were extremely personable and friendly, they genuinely cared about my dining experience and were nice enough to tell me about the area! We first discovered the Uprooted Kitchen back in December 2018, before we had moved back to Arizona. We were in town visiting friends in Phoenix for the holidays, and found The Uprooted Kitchen when we were looking for organic, vegan-friendly places to eat. Not only did we enjoy the food on our first visit, but coming to The Uprooted Kitchen introduced us to Bar None, the fun co-op space Uprooted is located in. This allowed the friends we had met for a late breakfast at Uprooted to seamlessly transition from a delicious, healthy breakfast to enjoying beers and kombucha on the patio of XWest Brewing. It would have been hard for me to design a more perfect December holiday gathering. Since then, we have had the opportunity to move back to Arizona. Although we live in Tucson, my husband and I frequently make trips to Phoenix to enjoy various happenings and try new restaurants. We go out of our way to stop by The Uprooted Kitchen on every trip. Erin and Chad, the husband and wife team that run this place, have been there every time we have visited to the restaurant. Chad always rings us up, and remembers us from our previous visits, however infrequent (usually once every three to six months). The menu seems to change fairly frequently (or at least every three to six months--lol), but there are always a number of options that look so good that my husband and I struggle to choose just one thing. On our visit today we had the raw pizza and the ginger sesame burger. To drink, my husband chose the coconut water with spirulina and I had the Flower Child iced tea. The coconut water was so fresh Chad was literally cracking coconuts to make my husband's drink. The Flower Child iced tea is a blend of tea from Wisdom Nectar tea and is the best herbal/non-caffeinated iced tea I have ever had. Our entrees were, as always, super tasty and super nutritious too. Uprooted also features a number of rotating dessert items. We picked the Chocolate Pecan Cashew Cheesecake today and OMG--it might be the best dessert we have had from Uprooted yet! Also, as an extra bonus, their patio is dog friendly. Being able to bring our puppies while we enjoy their amazing food makes a great experience even better. Run, don't walk, to Uprooted Kitchen. And then check out the other businesses in residence at the Bar None Co-Op. It will be a great day. read more

Tucked away in the BARNONE building adjacent to a nearby organic farm in the community of Agritopia, this joint stands purely on its own. Owners Erin and Chad are super personable and eager to talk about their food and journey from an Avian based rolling eatery to the brick and mortar success they have built now. Six years later, folks drive across the valley for Erin's tempeh breakfast sandwich: tempeh patty - housemade naan bun - avocado - tomato - caramelized onion - greens - roasted potatoes, and the baked french toast: "proof" sourdough - almond banana batter - housemade coconut yogurt - granola - mixed berry preserves - fruit. Also not to be missed is the sprouted buckwheat porridge: warm bowl of sprouted buckwheat and quinoa - toasted millet - dates - pecans - spiced apples - topped with chia - pepitas - sunbutter sauce. As we left we grabbed a couple desserts from the cold case - the vegan peanut butter cup is to die for! Treat your soul to any meal here but especially brekkie.
