Natural Grocers is my husband's favorite grocery store. It's a specialty retailer featuring organic and natural groceries, body care, and dietary supplements. He loves getting fresh produce, supplements, and healthy snacks from here. I went with my husband one evening and finally understood why he loves it. It's smaller than most grocery stores, but offers a lot. I picked out some healthy snacks as well as bar soap. The staff was really friendly. Prices are reasonable. Celebration in gilbert was terrible. Waiting in the heat for over 40 minutes for the bbq that was suppose to start at 3pm. Then, they cut all the burgers and the funky hot dogs in half with half a bun! Unresl...cheap shot! People were angry and a lot left. It gave me a very bad feeling about them. A great option for those who like organic foods and niche brands that are difficult to come by in this area. Extensive vitamin and body care selection. Their produce is also 100% organic. Plenty of organic meat, dairy, poultry and snack options and many options for those who are vegan and cruelty free. Even Yelpers know which is the better vs. sucky Natural Grocers store. (Note the Baseline store has much better reviews.) This location... as stated above... just sucks. I'm over them. Cranky, slow and lacking basic customer service skills, the nail in the coffin was the annual anniversary celebration. The company hypes it up for weeks, promising deep deals on just a handful of items, but when you arrive just 2.5 hours after opening... they are ALL GONE for the entire 3 days. Happened last year and happened this year. This year I asked the supplements manager (who was hiding in the back) why everything was already gone and why, it happens every year in the first 2 hours of the 3 day "sale." She had some feeble excuse about the corporation only supplying so much so I asked her why she didn't just double the order. No intelligible response. Shopping here can be painful sometimes too waiting for a cashier to become available. They're often busy on a tangent or gabbing with customers and I've seen some abandon the register, close down and walk away even while there's a line. Pricing on the shelf isn't always consistent with what's in the cash register. I caught a $3 discrepancy twice in a row recently and they finally caught on, but instead of posting the correct price on the shelf, they now just left a blank white sticker so there's no price at all... and this has been in this condition for over a month now. Lots and lots of gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options for milk, yogurt, bread, cookies and more. They carry the Beyond Burger- it's plant based and delicious, almost mimics a meat patty. They have great finds in the clearance section throughout the store. read more

Could I love a grocery store any more? Not likely. Love this one. I've sat in on a few of the classes geared toward nutrition, vitamins, home remedies and more. Good selection of organic and non GMO items. Suppliestogive you a head start in brewing your own Kombucha, fermenting your own sauerkrat or kimchi and much more. Publications that explain various topics on things such as sprouting, GMO's, Vitamin D and just so much more. All this in addition to grass fed beef, grass fed beef broth and Grass fed lard. Awesome. And groceries. Yep, they have groceries too. The produce selection isn't huge, but they have things here I don't expect you would find many other places. For example, Dandelion greens. Who knew?! And then there is the nutrition counseling that's offered. One hour, for free. Certainly not the usual neighborhood grocery store, and I love that. read more

This store has an amazing amount of vitamins, supplements, etc. I really love to look and go up and down each aisle. They have some unique products that I have not seen in Sprouts or Whole Foods. I found some really cool biobags made out of corn for scooping dog poop. I have cats so I got some to try. Great store! read more

I have always been curious about Natural Grocers every time I drove by, so I decided to stop in on a Sunday afternoon. This store has a large selection of fresh and organic produce, multi-vitamins and supplements, and herbal supplements. They have a freezer case of ready to eat foods, which is nice for a quick dinner when you don't really feel like cooking. They have a section with books. This store is great for people that follow a gluten-free, Vegan, or Paleo Diet. There is a wide selection of organic grass fed meat, and plenty of canned/boxed goods. I felt this place is pricey. I felt it is a little higher than Trader Joe's and Sprouts. I did see some things I would get, but it would not be my natural grocery store of choice. read more

This was my second trip to a Natural Grocers store. (I went to the location on Baseline the week before). I definitely like their overall vibe/approach and on this visit I realized that they have a website (I couldn't find an app for them) that offers discounts on certain items. For example: they have organic (all their produce is organic) avocados this week for 99¢ each. The regular price was $1.49 each. To receive the discounts, you text a message to a number they provide and a link to their site is sent back. You enter your email and phone number and the phone number is what they use when you check out to pull up your account. (Same as Albertson's/Safeway and American Discount Foods) There are some good deals in the clearance section as well as some good prices on sale items from week to week. For example: I bought a large bottle of Salmon fish oil on the clearance rack that was originally $33 for $16. Also, on this trip they had Malk (this is real almond/cashew milk, you owe it to yourself to give it a try) on sale for $4.45. I used to buy it at Whole Foods for $5.99. They also have good quality free range eggs for $1.99. I'm guessing this is their loss leader. It's also very close to Trader Joe's and Costco. They are even on the same side of the street as TJ. So you can go to one and then the other back to back. I couldn't give five stars or do all my shopping here for the same reason - their prices! I can't afford to make Natural Grocers my main store, but they are definitely going to be in my rotation from now on. read more

I'm undecided about natural grocers, they have a good selection if you have certain dietary restrictions they have good options for that and great for vitamins and bulk spices etc so I am sure I will come back on occasion. Their prices however are pretty pricey I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on certain items. Another thing the cashier really bothered me she seemed annoyed by my existence when she would scan the items she threw them aggressively in the bag it was very uncomfortable. I was really happy when I first found this place, I'm still happy I found natural grocers has a store, just not THIS store (Williamsfield and Val Vista)... I was just reminded why I drive to the other locations even though I live less than a block away from this one. The owner or manager (pretty older blonde gal) who is nice in a very patronizing , sometimes accusatory way if you have an issue with one of their products. I had an issue with her in the past which I won't even bring up now, because it was resolved, but the process was so scrutinized that I stopped taking my business there. I had bought a $40 shirt because they are the only place that sells a shirt I would pay $40...and I'm frugal, but this bamboo shirt is fire...anyways, I forgot that they run a little smallAnd yesterday I bought a large from a different location. After trying it on when I got home and thought a little tight and I remembered after looking at my other shirt that I have which is almost a year-old, was an XL. The story about it from didn't have any XL's but this one did(I called) ... I drove down there and tried to swap the shirt out for the larger one and just like always she made it difficult and tried to tell me that I washed it. Keep in mind I bought this yesterday... It was too small for me, why on earth would I throw in the washing machine which is usually known for shrinking things not making them larger. She points on the stain and then as we look at it in a light can't see it, but after very very careful and continuous searching she's able to fine a the smallest mark (even that word is worse than this smudge that probably came from my hands, which probably haven't been washed in two or three hours at worst) which I'm attaching to this review.... so she denies the exchange and has again offered piss poor customer service... you can't knit pick more than this and what I wanted to say but Didn't think of it until just now, was "make up your mind is it dirty or did I wash it??" it's been less than 30 hours, I didn't wash the shirt, I didn't even wear it longer than 10 seconds when I knew it didn't fit. I just want to get the right size for the $40 shirt I bought but the patronizing Condescending which is made up some bullshit reason why she won't let that happen. I keep forgetting to check in here but wow, I've coming here for their amazing Prinals and vegan jerky, their nut and other non-milk cheeses are always in stock, pricey but same price online so price right? They have a ton of supplements, classes, free tutorials, coupon pages, no plastic bags, and free samples ever now and then. Generally impressed, especially the bountiful food carts they attract. This place stinks, literally and figuratively. The produce section is like one, giant over-ripe banana. The people there are apathetic and lackadaisical. On the positive side, the prices are low, so you get like a subset of Sprouts inventory at Fry's prices. And they have some stance against beer and wine, so...yeah...meh. I suspect as soon as Trader Joe's opens up next door, this place will follow Bush's Chicken and close. read more

I would not advise buying meat products at this store. I recently purchased lamb there and became very ill after cooking and eating it. Somehow, I expected the product to be as good as it looked. I wasn't ! The store appears clean and orderly, but who knows what's happening to, or with products before they are displayed. Looks can be deceiving. I learned this the hard and painful way. I was extremely impressed with this place. One might say that I am rather easy to please however. Upon arriving, an employee was outside and offered us a cart before we went in. Good first impression. Granted, I personally understand why these types of grocers have a sort of limited selection but this one, I felt was quite different. They have an amazing spice selection in bulk. I have tarragon for life and for under $4 ! Their meat selection is slim but very good quality. The sustainable business approach is also an important one for me. I am in love and will continue to shop here. The employees throughout the store were all very helpful. Great selection and great prices. It sort of reminds me of a grocery co-op. It looks a little small (and it is), but once you start shopping you'll that they have A LOT of good stuff. While they don't have as big a selection of organic produce, they have plenty and it frequently costs 50% less than Whole Foods. They have a much better selection of vitamins, supplements, and personal care items than Whole Foods. I love supporting this store with my business. My only criticism is access to the store. It's on the southeast corner of Val Vista and Williams Field, and you can only get direct access to the parking lot if you're driving south on Val Vista. The only other access is via another business's parking lot east of the intersection on Williams Field. It's not easy or intuitive at all, and I think this may hurt their business. For easier access I wish they would consider moving closer to the new Trader Joe's and it would also give them more business I think. read more

We normally shop here weekly but all of the sudden Natural Grocers is giving in to the tyranny and fear and wouldn't sell my husband bread unless a mask was covering his mouth. He had already been in the store for 5 minutes without one so I'm sure everyone was safe once he put the mask around his mouth while they scanned the bread he was buying. (At that point it's all about control and not about safety) Masks are NOT healthy and have not been proven to be effective via science so it's really unfortunate that a "health food store" has caved to the pressures of our current situation. I shop at the nearby Sprouts weekly so I had to check this place out. I love the fact all of their produce is organic. The store is cute and set up so you can easily find what you need. I even saw things I've never seen at Sprouts which was cool. It is pricier for the most part but some things I found were on sale making them cheaper then Sprouts. I'll stop here regularly now along with sprouts. It's nice to have a variety of healthy options. It's nice to see the organic and healthy eating movement get bigger! read more

My wife and I shop here because Trader Joe's doesn't offer most of the selection that we choose. And Whole Foods is really expensive, Fry's doesn't have the selection that we look for, Costco is ridiculously crowded and WinCo doesn't have much of a Vegan selection either. For that reason when Trader Joe's opens up next door, Natural Grocers will probably do just fine. Much in the same way that WinCo and Costco are right across the street from each other and they're both still open. Natural Grocers provides my wife and I the opportunity to do that shopping at a single location. There are products at Natural Grocers that we cannot find anywhere. The produce is actually pretty cool. The selection is slightly limited but what is available does work for us. Also with these smaller stores that cater towards some niche' products you get really good customer service. You can't really compare a chicken place to a natural foods store but whatever. I enjoy many of the products they carry, which is why I come weekly. However there is one particular cashier who is so incredibly slow, never smiles, and comments on every single item I buy. I'm not the biggest fan of grocery shopping so I'd like to spend less than 10 minutes standing in a line with only one person in front of me. It makes the experience much less enjoyable. read more

I saw this place go up pretty quickly and was excited to check it out. I'm glad I did. I can definitely see myself stopping in here regularly to pick up some of my favorites. This will not necessarily replace my needing to visit the bigger retailers such as Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or Sprouts since Natural Grocers does not yet have a prepared foods section or deli counter for case items that one might expect. Natural Grocers has a lot of personality and variety and I like the smaller, more neighborhood style and feel this local grocer provides. Nice selection of items. The people seem really nice. They were out of the grass-fed ground beef one day that I wanted (Arizona Grass Raised Co), but I got a steak by the same company and it was sooooooo delicious. They also let me know when the next shipment would arrive and double checked the back to make sure they didn't have some. They had some other rare items I went for which you can't really find at antother grocery stores. Definitely a great place for those with special eating habits or dietary restrictions or simply focused on healthier eating and lifestyle. read more

Takes the guesswork out of choosing healthy items. I love this store. Love the meats. Still have lots to try but feel very lucky to have this store near my home. **updated 3/2018 My family is now in love with this this store (which is saying something because my husband was not a believer if you know what I mean). We love the eggs, the nuts, the cheese and the Garrett Valley turkey sticks (they are awesome). Don't overlook the spices; they have some terrific pricing. I've found lots of healthy snacks and treats for the kiddos for school lunches. The frozen bone broth is amazing, and the selection of Steaz teas among other drinks like Kombucha and sparkling water (New York Seltzer in Watermelon) is big. The sales staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. They even offer classes in the store! I must've walked around here for close to an hourjust looking at everything! While I LOVE that everything is mostly organic and non GMO verified, it is on the pricey side ($5 for a pint of strawberries!). I left with one large bag and dropped over $100. On my most recent visit, they didn't have any lemons, only lemon juice in the squeeze bottle which surprised me, and they were out of garlic. I was able to pick up a few of the close-to-expiration-date salads and yogurts at a discount, which was awesome. My favorite things to buy there are the dates with flax, chia and turmeric and other healthy, snack type items I can throw in my lunch box. Will continue to visit, but for cupboard staples, I will still visit other larger, lower priced grocers. read more

I applaud the Natural Grocers business model of only selling healthy foods. However, I have to wonder if opening across the street from the much larger Sprouts may have been a misstep. The items I bought from Natural Grocers were very high quality and tasted great, but the selection seemed a bit limited. The meat department is very small. The produce I bought was very fresh and all organic but the selection wasn't super extensive.. Natural Grocers has a great concept but an additional trip to a larger store may be necessary to check off all the items on your shopping list. Also, they don't provide plastic bags at checkout so bring your own or use the boxes near the register. read more

Update your 'holiday' hours on yelp. Not that hard!!! Drove 25 minutes to get there. It's ok though since I never have much confidence in finding anything other than half rotten vegetables and flavorless cardboard lettuce on your shelves.
