As a foodie one of the ongoing frustrations is the movement toward shelf life, uniformity and quantity produce over quality and locality. Picking when unripe, gassing, waxing, and transporting around the world is clearly not good for food quality, you or the environment. Hell when was the last time you bought a good tomato at the store? While I'm certainly not a tree huggin hippy I do appreciate ripe picked quality ingredients not laced in tons of chemicals and Glyphosate. This is where Greenhouse Gardens Market table comes in. Take a short drive or a bike ride over to a newly refurbished farm where the owners take pride in everything they do. We went last Sat and picked up some Swiss Chard and carrots that pulled back 3 decade old memories as how good they can be. Depending on growing season they have a variety of cool and interesting items to choose from so it is good to get on their mailing list to see what's available. They are still building and ramping up so there is still plenty to do at the farm but they have made amazing progress and I can't wait to see how it progresses and develops over time. On my most recent visit, Michael Ray provided outstanding customer service. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the produce department, including delivery schedules for seasonal items, and was familiar with products throughout the store. When I asked for help picking out a watermelon for a party, he didn't just point me in the right direction--he took the time to dig through the display to find the biggest and best one. It was a huge hit with everyone, and I truly appreciated the extra effort he put into making sure I left with exactly what I needed. Michael Ray has been a wonderful addition to an already outstanding staff. Employees like him are the reason customers continue to come back year after year. I wanted to send a friend something of a 'thinking of you' and I loved that Azelly's website was easy to navigate and had some different options. I chose the "Peach Sorbet" with pretty but subdued peach and white colors (perfect for a lot of occasions) that comes arranged in a box with macaroons. Well, as I ordered, I selected Google Pay and it automatically entered my address as the delivery!! Yikes. Well it was 8 PM and I thought I would call and hopefully leave a message as there wasn't an email on the website. After initially reaching an automated answering service, I pressed a button and spoke to a live person. I think it was the owner and I felt a little awful about having interrupted her life at 8 PM but she was really nice and ensured the correct delivery address was planned. She also called me back the next day to confirm delivery, and my friend loved the flowers. She sent a photo and they looked just like the website. Fresh flower deliveries are never cheap, but I thought this was an excellent value. They had options across price ranges and really pretty options that were different than what I've seen on other sites -- and actually pretty and tasteful non-flower options like the beautiful macaroons. Absolutely recommend and would use again!
