Excellent service, friendly welcome, huge selection of quality pottery at a good value. A fun place to wander whether you are an out of town visitor or a local. To me, it was a 'blast to the past' of Authentic Arizona. I was greeted by a knowledgeable and lovely woman, Deserae, who helped me locate a particular type of pottery. There are indoor pieces as well as outdoor. A nice selection of St. Francis statues and tall Angels. Also beautiful Talavera style glazed pots and colorful, hand painted plates and coffee mugs, and whimsical outdoor pieces that I felt were priced below other places I've seen nice pottery. They had a lot of stuff but a great deal was faded from the sun. The prices were too high and the quality only fair.

We were looking for a couple of large metalwork pieces for our front yard. Had a large selection, ended up getting two tall large ceramic pots and metal agave plants. Looks beautiful and not something we could have obtained online. Had it delivered at fair price the next day. Good communication for delivery. Very pleased. read more

1/13/22 What a cool place to visit. We kept driving by this place, so decided to stop by. It can NOT be missed. Quality/Quantity - Seemed good, but afraid to touch it - if I broke it, I might have to buy it. Atmosphere - So artistic and talented. So many different things to see. I am told it is all handmade. Service - Everyone was friendly and helpful. Price - N/A as for my current lifestyle, less is better, so sorry I did not look at the prices. I just enjoyed the beautiful work. This is an outdoor market specializing in southwest hand painted pottery. There is a wide variety of pots of all sizes, garden/yard ornaments, large rod iron items. I think their prices are a bit overpriced, but remember the pieces are hand painted and beautiful. We purchased a flower pot and a butterfly for our house. We like to go browse and will probably get more pieces some other time. read more

I usually go to this place every time I come to Arizona to visit family. It's fun and outdoors and at this time in the world being outdoors shopping is the only way that I will shop. I like the decorative art that they have from Mexico. They always have something new and different when I go which is nice. The only problem I have is that the prices are really erratic and the items are very overpriced. This time I went in they had a sign saying 20% off everything which is closer to an appropriate price but still not where it should be. I looked at a little table that was tiled and could be put outside. The items are left outside so they're really not in great condition but I thought my daughter would like this. She did see it and she admired it but the price tag of $389 was absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't pay half that price for this little table. I have been shopping in Mexico in the past and I know how cheap things are there. I know that they have distributors, the middleman that they pay, and that there are shipping expenses as well. But some of these prices are just insane. I would love to go back here the next time in it I am in Arizona which will be very soon. But I can't see me paying those prices if they continue. I really like their merchandise and the people are very nice but the prices are a big deterrent to shopping there. read more

Rude staff and overpriced random items with a swap meet feeling. Strange situation all around

This was one of the most Unique places I've been to for handmade Mexican pottery. I've been looking for a large sun; their variety & assortment was the largest I've seen outside of Mexico. I ended up buying some metal agave sculptures that were really cool too. If I'd brought my truck I would have bought more. Next time! The owner was friendly and helpful. read more

I've been here a few times. The place is impossible to miss as you drive down Main street. With 10 foot tall metal giraffes and metal horsrs and even a stagecoach made of metal your curiosity peaks as you drive by. When you pull into the gravel parking lot in back your eye catches an array of colorful hand painted. pottery in all shspes and sizes. You can find a good selection of wall hangings and yard ornaments. Everything has a southwest theme to it, although I don't know whats up with the giraffes. Most recently We bought a flower pot for the front yard. It was pretty, but a little high in price. It's not often we need a flower pot, but if I ever need a giraffe for the front yard I'll know where to go. read more

Our backyard is getting a major facelift so instead of spending tons of money on landscaping that's going to burn up in this crazy Arizona heat we thought about buying some Southwestern pottery and decorations instead. However I honestly felt like we were being taken to the cleaners when we came in to take a look and some stuff here. I grew up in Los Angeles my entire life where you can get the same stuff for half the price than what you pay here in Arizona I'm half Mexican and honestly was ashamed at what this place was charging for this stuff. Needless to say we didn't purchase anything from here and won't be back. You can head South to Mexico or make a trip to L.A. and get the stuff way way cheaper. The stuff is nice but not that nice due to the huge mark up in prices I'm still stunned in disbelief and can't see how this place can stay in business unless the 55 + crowd in all the surrounding trailer parks are supporting this place. read more

Showed up at 4:40 and was told I had to leave because they were closing early. So much for supporting this local business.

I have contacted the business and they have not responded to my message, so I'm putting it out there for everyone so see... Yesterday afternoon I was in and bought two items (horn toad & snake - see pictures); I was told the toad was $29 and the snake was $10, equaling $39. I gave the man/cashier $100 and he only gave me $50 change. He said since I was paying cash he wouldn't charge me tax. In my calculations he shorted me $11... I didn't realize he had short changed me until I got home. I am not happy about this and would like the balance owed me. Prices have increased tremendously over the last 2.5 years and service has gone down. Also, we have visitors all year long and always take them to the shop; this will no longer be happening. read more

Visited for the first time today and I was very impressed with the selection and quality of most of the items. This is one of those places where if they don't have it, it's probably extremely hard to find My wife and I mosied around for about an hour and found a few great items that would fit perfectly in our backyards scheme The items that did have prices (a very few) seemed to be a little on the high side but about average for this time of year when the winter visitors are all in. Which I certainly understand, they have to make most of their money at this time of the year. As a year-round resident I will be happy to come back this summer and see if the prices are more reasonable. Now for my issue which is a thorn in my side and always makes me suspicious. Most of the items did not have prices and with only one person working you can waste a lot of time just waiting. I did find it interesting while waiting for my wife the salesperson offered two different prices to two different customers for the same piece. Anyway good location plenty of parking. read more

Biggest selection in the valley, but prices are laughable. For what I was looking for, their prices were about 80% higher than others. Been there 3 times in 3 weeks and would have made a competitive offer on several items, but no one ever said Hi or even made eye contact. read more

I can't comment to much on prices, as this is the first time I have shopped there. I bought three items that came to over $800.00 that I was well please with. I wasn't going to buy all three, but the owner gave me a break on posted items prices, so I got all three. Mr. Maupin was very nice, offered to deliver my items free. I can't really say if I paid to much, as I wasn't able to find these three items anywhere else, in the Valley or on the Internet. So I am pleased at what I got and paid. read more

This place is great! My husband brought me here on my birthday to pick out some decorations for our front yard. It is in a large dirt lot and there were one gentlemen working there, we went on a Sunday and it were not busy at all, we were actually the only ones there. They have a HUGE variety of pots , sculptures , all kinds of stuff! If your looking for a fancy show room this isn't your place, and if your looking for someone to walk around with you and hold you hand, also not the place for you. I used to frequent this place. It looks very inviting, a large lot on the corner with beautiful pots, yard ornaments, and really cute items for the garden and indoors. A few years ago I bought a giraffe for my pool area, and paid about $299 for it. The giraffe is now upwards of $600 and the prices are so much higher than they used to be. The people who work there are hit or miss. When I mentioned the prices seemed higher one man said "Was it so-and-so working? he gives stuff away, these prices are way better than anywhere" and dismissed me. Some outright ignore you. I will see something, and think, oh that's cute, and it's $60+ for a small item. I am not kidding the prices have tripled in the past few years. I won't go there anymore. I used to take out-of- town guests, but between the prices and sometimes unfriendly staff, I'm done. I can get less authentic yard items from other local stores for LESS than half at Southwest Pottery. There are no deals to be found here. read more
