The interior of the restaurant is hard concrete, cold and loud even with a modest number of people dining (under 50%). The walls were opened up so the sound of motorcycles and trucks passing sometimes made conversation difficult. It took a long time before we were welcomed by our waitress. She was reasonably responsive after arriving but not personable. It seemed that none of the staff were enjoying their jobs or making any effort to connect with customers. The food was just okay. The portions were relatively small with very little meat. The calamari was crispy and good. The Gyro was more like a small salad in a pita with too much sauce and so little meat that it was lost in the sauce, lettuce and onions. The pizza was okay but the crust was burnt mostly black. A group of friends and I were looking for a place that we could all eat together and were so glad we stumbled on Upper Crust. Everywhere else was swamped, and while Upper Crust was definitely busy, it is large enough that it can accommodate a lot of tables. Our server Brendan was fantastic and attentive, and even though we were a group of at least 10 he never let any of us fall through the cracks. He even helped us get dessert even though we just missed the ordering cutoff. A few of us split the roasted cauliflower which was really delicious. Not toothsome and really well spiced. It looks a little funky but just melts in your mouth. I also got the brisket pizza which was fantastic. Really thinly sliced meat on a white pizza with a crispy crust? Perfection. They also have a ton of beer options both on tap and individually and retail. We have always enjoyed the food here. The pizza is always hot and tasty. The service is usually fast, and the staff is courteous. It can get rather loud and hard to have a conversation at your own table. We have never played any of the games they have in the back (maybe someday). Truly have never had such a bad dining experience. When our waitress brought our waters, she accidentally spilled a whole glass onto my dad's lap. She apologized and brought a small stack of napkins and walked away - did not help clean up, there was ice and water all over the table, and also on the floor where they also didn't help mop or bring a wet floor sign. We had been sitting for an entire HOUR when my husband's food finally came - just his meal. Not our appetizer, not our bar drinks, just the one meal. The waitress apologized a few times and told us that the bar just wasn't making our drinks because they were prioritizing bar drinks. We finally got everything at once after sitting for about an hour and 10 minutes. This place has absolutely no structure - food runners were walking around with no idea which tables they were supposed to go to, management was no where to be seen, we had to ask two different people for silverware and napkins and condiments, my wine came in a snifter beer glass, wait staff had sections that included inside and outside that were far apart. I thought maybe we were just dealt a bad hand, but I saw tons of other customers looking around and seemingly unhappy as well. The pierogis were literally inedible, but the pizzas were actually great. I'm honestly the most disappointed no one offered to take something off our check for the extremely long wait times or inconvenience of the water spill. The atmosphere is great but the pizza not so much. We ordered drinks and got a pie to go but we waited for ever and realized it was the one we saw sitting for ever and no one bothered to bring it to us. The brisket was dried up hard and stringy and there was uneven distribution of cheese and onion and sauce. I'm disappointed it wasn't better. I so wanted it to be good. We felt bad returning it and left this 20$ pizza for a homeless person on a park bench after two slices. They are also sadly understaffed (only one bartender, working her butt off) and prep staff goofing off as we noticed when not being given our pizza at the to go drop station. Service itself was great, we had a very nice waitress. The food was terrible. Chicken cheese fries the chicken was cold and barely any cheese. My pizza was brought put and practically slung on my lap, and it was full of grease. We had one pack of silverware that was dirty. The burgers were dry and blah. This was a great perk to eating here since it added some more diversity to the menu! We got 3 pizzas, which was enough to feed 5 of us. The pizzas are normal size. Definitely not huge, but not personal pan size either. The crust was a universal crust that was on the thinner side, which we liked. All 3 were great, and I'd order them all again. The brussels and bacon pizza was more brussels than bacon, but we got this one for the greens so we liked that. It had a sweeter taste to it, which I'm assuming was the bacon marmalade, but it wasn't too overpowering. The gumbo pizza had a nice Cajun flavor to it. It has a surprising amount of meat on it, so you get your bang for you buck when it comes to this one. We also did a custom pizza with pepperoni and pineapple (controversial, I know). The Smoky Cider Nor'Easter was an awesome drink and perfect for warming you up on a cold day. My wife got the Roasted Pineapple Mint Julep and loved it as it was a great balance of fruity and herbal-y. My sister got the strawberry pomegranate mimosa and loved it as well. The waitstaff was extremely nice and provided great service. Arguably the best part about this place is the FREE arcade located at the back of the restaurant. Visited The Upper Crust yesterday for a pre-planned meetup with a large group of gaming friends. It was my first time here, and wow! I was shocked how big the place was inside. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and asked if I was with the group, and they directed me to the back of the restaurant. The back of the restaurant has large, long picnic style tables that were perfect for our large group of over 20 people. I noticed another maybe birthday party at the table next to us. This place is great for large groups, very busy and bustling! The back of the restaurant has a large gaming area, which was awesome for the kids in our group to stay entertained. There are 4 skee ball machines, basketball, and various other games like pool. The machines are free to play which is an awesome touch! The food and beer choices are excellent. It was hard to decide what to order. BF and I are huge foodies and craft beer lovers. We tried 4 different beers. I absolutely loved the Cherry Blossom beer, and Pretzel beer. There is a wide variety of draft beer, canned beer, and cocktails. When I visit a new place or state (I live in Maryland) I like to try local beers only, draft. I was very happy that there were lots of PA beers to try that I was not familiar with. For food, there are 2 different menus, one for the Upper Crust, and one for the Borough BBQ next door. We chose the Pulled Pork Pizza from Upper Crust, and Corn Fritters from Borough BBQ to share. You place your order at the counter, where you can open a tab. It was nice because we stayed around 3 hours with our group. We went up several times to order more drinks - and it was very accommodating due to the fact that we had at least 15 different "parties" within our group - eliminating the need to split or pool checks. The pizza was awesome - I love the brick oven style. It was hard to choose, we will definitely be back to try more. The corn fritters were amazing, and a total surprise! I have never had "sweet" forward corn fritters (with the powdered sugar) - the hot spicy honey was an unexpected twist I didn't know I needed! I loved that the honey was actually spicy. The portion was huge, and there was plenty for me and my BF as well as sharing with 3 other people. The staff brings your food to your table when it is ready, which is a nice touch. Our gaming group does a lot of LARGE meetups with sometimes hundreds of attendees, and we have done events across several states. I'd say it can be challenging to accommodate large groups in a relaxed atmosphere. The Upper Crust was perfect, with lots of space for everyone to spread out, and the kids to run around and enjoy themselves as well. I was truly amazed at the massive size of the space, great food, staff, and relaxed atmosphere with lots of great food choices. I dropped in for a pint while exploring the town center. What a great spot and completely unexpected! I tried the pierogies and a an IPA. The tap selection was well curated although my top two choices were sold out. Service was fast and efficient without personality. The atmosphere is open, concrete floors with a dining room up front near the windows, bar on the side and games in the back. The games are all free! Skeeball for the win! This is a cool place!! We had a short wait, which we didn't mind. We were lucky enough to get a booth up front next to the roll up doors, it was a beautiful evening to people watch in Gettysburg! Starting off by saying we visited during the Gettysburg Christmas Festival so they were very busy. That being said, the food was just okay. We had the cauliflower appetizer which was different, interesting. We had the margarita pizza, sweet and spicy pizza and the brisket pizza. They were all okay. Just fine. The building itself is very cool. They had the doors open which was pretty but it got fairly cold inside. We waited over an hour for our food, but they were crazy busy so we expected that. Went here to watch the playoffs and have some food and drinks. We have been here before and had a great time. It was a good place to enjoy a beer, food and a game. Got sat at 6:09 and didn't have anyone even come to our table until we got up and asked almost 45 minutes later. Then it took another 30 minutes for our drinks to get here after half our party had finished their meal and the other was still waiting on food. When our food was served we didn't even have plates for sharing or silverware or napkins. While through out the meal we were served our appetizers. The place was horribly understaffed for a Saturday night during the first night of round 2 playoffs. Other tables were waiting half hour for anyone to take orders as well. The saving grace was our server Amanda who had 10 other tables and had to take on more tables because the bartenders wouldn't. And then next to us was a giant party of at least 20 and the reason it took an hour for us to get two pizzas. I don't know who the manager of this place is, but they clearly have no idea how to run a restaurant. Hats off to Amanda for keeping her cool and doing her best but shame on management for putting their staff members in these predicaments. We stayed an extra day to be away from the crowd and came downtown to this place based on yelp reviews. We were seated quickly and loved the fact that we were half way between the ovens and the roll up doors in the front giving us fresh air and a great view of the street. The beer selection is decent and has some local brews. My wife ordered a drink off the menu and they made it perfectly. As for the the pizza, we ordered the gumbo. It was fantastic. Visiting Gettysburg for afternoon and found this location jus down from traffic circle. This Monday afternoon was not too busy and was seated immediately. No worries though, the dining area is huge. Caution with sitting at side walk seating. Traffic noise can be a little loud with windows open. We were given food menus and a drink menu which includes specialty drinks and a good list of micro brews and other popular beers. We elected to go with a Light & Bright Salad and Four Cheese w/mushroom pizza to share. Our salad was served first and had nice presentation. It had all ingredients mentioned on menu and was ok. Could have been tossed with a little more dressing. If your trying to cut calories this is the salad. Our white pizza arrived soon after which is cooked in doomed pizza oven.
