Our happy little group of two couples discovered the SHS by accident in a Facebook post. We decided we really wanted to check it out soon. We dropped in yesterday, a Saturday evening, and chose to try a mix from the menu. We had burgers, salads, wraps and sandwiches and beverages at our table. To say that we were happily surprised would be a profound understatement! The staff were warm and friendly from the second we walked in the front door. That feeling continued throughout our stay. No request was too challenging, no accommodation was problematic. When a sample was requested, the staff smiled and gave an immediate "of course, we can!" reply. The food was tasty, hearty, prepared to order ... nothing pre-made and kept under warming lamps here ... in impressive portions with unbeatable (almost unbelievable) prices! For us, this was a half-hour trip to get there ... and we found ourselves greatly pleased we had chosen to give it a try. Respect this place for what it is, a rural pub with great food, wonderful prices and a family atmosphere. You won't find china and crystal here, and the trappings are humble. But things are clean, the ambiance is family-friendly, and the welcome is sincere. If you haven't gone yet, you'd best get it on your "to-do" list. You'll be glad you did.
