The Union is such an amazing and welcoming place. I was able to take courses through Gonzaga University where I was studying this fall. Nicole and Jacky from the west locations in particular are such amazing instructors however it's been my experience that all the instructors are incredibly welcoming. I had never done spine or any type of hot yoga or TRX yet Nicole and Jacky really ensure that you feel confident on your first day in your abilities! I gained so many positive experiences. If you're on the fence, pick this gym. The only thing that kept me from staying was moving back home after undergrad. I've yet to find a space so welcoming and kind! read more

I have been going to spin here for years and I really enjoy it! They have many instructors and they have different styles. You are guaranteed to find one (or more) that you love!! Recently it is getting a little pricey, but I'm not sure how that compare with other spin places. They do have deals sometimes though, so take advantage of those! I just got done with an amazing 80 min session with Jocelyn and I feel so wonderful. This was my second session under her instruction and I'm hooked! I went initially to a roof top yoga just for fun with my oldest sister which is where I met Jocelyn as she was teaching the class. I had such a great experience there that I sought her out afterwards to take another class. I highly recommend booking a session with Jocelyn, she is so kind and the mood/tone she sets for her classes are perfect. Your first class is free so why not check out The Union! Too crowded, loud and it's basically a cookie cutter assembly line of people going in and out. Yoga music is too loud or you can hear the blasting club music from the spin classes. No real privacy to change clothes or take off your shoes; most is done in the hallway while there's a ton of people trying to run and make their classes. It would make more sense to have the classes at different times or start them within 15-30 mins of each other so that it's a bit more quiet or peaceful. I tried the 3 types of classes they offer and wasn't impressed. read more

Walking into the Union I immediately knew I discovered a place I was going to love. The space is clean, cool, and welcoming. The receptionist was friendly and gave us a little tour! The first class I took was a yoga class. The yoga room is beautiful with great natural light. The classes are warm - but to a nice temperature that stays consistent (I never had a heater blowing on me which I find super distracting). The room is on the smaller size but there was a nice amount of people with plenty of room to spread out. They set a limit on the number of people that can sign up so I would assume it would never be too crowded. The class was a great power vinyasa flow. The pace was good - you kept moving but never felt rushed at the expense of form. I felt like I had a great workout! They play music (mainly electronic/pop) which I love. I find that the music helps me to focus so much more!! I also took a spin class which was also impressive! The teacher was very friendly and helped me setup the fairly complicated bike. You have to use the clip in bike shoes which you get for free your first class or 2 dollars from then on. If you haven't tried clip ins before they completely change your workout! You get a lot more stability plus it works your hamstrings with the pulling motion. The music was great and upbeat. And the teacher had great energy and lead the class through a full body workout. It definitely reminded me of the soulcycle classes I have taken with the movements and overall vibe of the room. Oh and there is a parking lot and it is very easy to get to! The signup is very easy online. And the first class is free!! Plus it's so great to see the buildings in that area repurposed. They have really helped improve the whole neighborhood. Overall I highly recommend both the spin and yoga classes. I will come as often as I can!! read more

I live in Olympia but wanted to get a quick workout in while visiting family in Spokane. This is by far the most fun I've had sweating and working out! I went to a 930am spin class, and Chelsea was my instructor. I signed up a few days prior and am so glad I did. The class was packed and Chelsea brought the best energy! Her playlist was amazing, and they change the lighting while you are spinning to create almost a club/dance experience. My adrenaline was pumping! I had trouble attaching my spin shoes to the bike (spin newbie here) and was helped by another spinner, I had such a great sense of community here! The Union is also very clean and every employee was so nice! I wish I had one of these in Olympia. You really feel like you got a great workout, and I want to go back already! read more

Humiliation, accusatory & racist microaggressions - Although I've been a frequent guest at The Union, I can't help but say it feels different now. Katie at The Union accused me for not having the correct shoes, which I did. Then she proceeded and demanded to search my bag. I didn't let her. The 4th amendment protects against the unreasonable search of an individual's property, including bags and purses. Unless The Union is law enforcement, no private business should be acting in such a way. She made such a scene in front of other guests, I felt embarrassed for the business. She kept saying there a was a problem, made lies that people were complaining, when literally no one did as people left the class and headed home. The instructor KNEW I was going to be there. I didn't engage with her anger, but politely left. Needless to say, I don't feel safe here anymore. No respect. No morals. No basic human decency. I'm a person first before a customer. No matter how late someone is to a class, no one deserves that kind of aggression. read more

I've been meaning to write a review of The Union for a while. The spin classes and TRX classes are fantastic. I love the community there and many of the instructors: Jacob Ruffin, Rachel Rowley, Sheree Greenslitt, Makenzie Ferraro to name a few. The music is loud, the room is hot and the tunes are pumping. I will add that my lower back pain has diminished considerably after attending regularly. Once I had some of the moves the instructors gave down more (moving from your core) the better my experience got. I love that there are two locations now too. I never thought I'd really get into spin but wow. My first class was with Rachel Rowley and she's the one that kept me coming back. The music is LOUD which is exactly what I like when I'm working out. I burned about 600 calories a class so it's an amazing workout and you feel totally cleansed with all your sweat at the end. There's yoga too, personally I tried a couple classes and they were too fast paced for me with not enough instruction. Going to spin with Rachel was the highlight of my week, she always knew exactly what to say when I needed to hear it. Thank goodness it's usually either dark or black lights cause no joke she even made me cry. The people at the desk were always incredibly friendly and helpful. Destiney Martin was also a huge favorite. So thankful to have such an amazing experience here! read more

Been here a few times for spin classes. First class is free and they have a bunch of options for packages. They offer spin, yoga and TMX classes and have another location on the Northside. Spin classes are black like, loud and high intensity, so be prepared to sweat! Spin lasts 50 minutes and you do get stretches at the end. Good amount of lights involved too. Wide variety of times (even as late as 730 pm at times). Get there 15 min ahead of time to get checked in, shoes and a bike. You can make appointments on the MindBody app as well. Not from Spokane but here for work. I'm from SF and I love my spin class there, soul cycle. I wanted to find a spin class here and I found the union. I was really happy and went to a few classes here. Everybody was extremely nice and friendly. Every teacher is different, some are hard, some are easy, and some are holy shit. That also applies to their playlist... But over all I was really happy. The pricing was great. First class free with free shoe rentals and every class after that is only $15 with $2 shoe rentals. (I pay $35 for all that in CA) so I was pleased. I think it's great to see something like this in Spokane, it's a great way to get in some sweat blasting cardio! read more

Roy's Top 5 Things to Know: 1. This place is CLEAN. From the reception area, to the restroom, to the classroom, to the bikes, heck even the shoes you can rent, all kept in great condition. 2. Great motivational playlists, went to Nick and Allison's class, music is loud, they provide earplugs but not loud enough where I couldn't here them or bothered my ears. 3. My class was under a black-light which just added to the overall vibe. 4. You can go at your own pace, the instructors will tell you when to turn it up but you'll never be called out if you need to slow down a bit. They're also helpful in getting you to set up your bike properly and will give you time checks just in case you need to get back to work if you attend a class during your lunch break. 5. We went this morning to the yoga class and the music was way too loud and not appropriate for yoga. We felt accosted by the house music in a setting that we expected to be peaceful and rejuvenating. In fact, it was quite the opposite, being rather stressful. If we had known going into it that the yoga class would be playing such loud club music we would have gone elsewhere. However, I can see it appealing to a certain demographic, but might be limited to that demographic only. I will still go and try the spinning class, loud music would be good for that activity and I love spinning. UPDATE: I went to the spinning class and it was wonderful. The music was very loud still, but it was appropriate for the setting. It pumped me up! I sweat a lot and the instructor was very skills and strong! I now know that I do love The Union for spinning but not for yoga. It is wonderful venue for Spokane to have and for me to return to for a spin class. read more

I recently went to my first free class for spinning and loved it so much that I bought a 1 month membership. They even had a 20% student discount. The ladies are all wonderful and kind and show an interest in getting to know you. The people who attend the classes are also nice and it's a fun environment. The hot yoga room they say is not heated as hot as other places but it still gets pretty hot. I do enjoy going to that, for me the yoga classes are more of a workout than a relaxing session. The music is too loud to be able to relax in my opinion. But I am okay with that because the environment is fun and it's different than any other yoga place. I love the use of the lighting in the spin classes. Music can be a little loud but I just sit farther away from the speakers and it does a good job in pumping you up. They provide earplugs if the noise level bothers you. Shoe rentals are a plus for people just starting out. You can purchase them for 2$ a day or 12$ for a whole month. read more

The Union is an ultra modern facility in downtown Spokane for spinning and yoga classes. Black light, glow in the dark, EDM music spin class. High intensity yoga. You will sweat, you will be sore, and you will feel great. Lots of good, loud, music on their speaker system to motivate you. I visited for my first class this weekend and it was free to use the spin shoes as well as visit the class. Get there 15-20 minutes early for the instructor to help you get properly fitted on your bike and to get your shoes on. They provided mats for the yoga portion of the class. I left feeling energized. They say on their website that it's yoga with a club soundtrack and spin with a light show. They are not lying! read more

Went to the new Northside facility today... I'm just glad the first class is free, so at least I didn't waste any money. It was AWFUL!! I've been to a lot of spin classes at many gyms.... wow, I'm glad this wasn't my first exposure to spin or I'd be turned off from it forever. The instructor was ridiculous. I've never seen/heard such a foul mouthed fitness "professional." Every other word was profanity. Does she think that motivates people or something?! Exercising should leave people feeling positive and uplifted. She created a trashy atmosphere. And was spewing facetious philosophical nonsense half the time. Like she was on drugs and/or trying to lure us into a cult-like club. The room was HOT!! It started out way too warm, and got disgusting from there. Makes me think they crank up the heat so everyone will sweat more and think they burned a boat load of calories. Nope. Not how it works. I saw fans in the corners, but they were never turned on. They cram bikes in there like sardines - so other's sweat get flicked off onto their neighbors. Ew. Ridiculously overpriced. Stinky construction going on next door. Bikes had no screens/monitors...so you don't know your RPMS, overall mileage, nothing. I don't know how a place like this gets members when there are SO many better options nearby - The Fitness Center, the YMCA, Muv, Phyzsque... even Snap Fitness is better! read more

I have never done a spin class before so I was nervous going to The Union, but the staff and instructor were so nice and helpful; I definitely will be returning. The spin class was intense, had great music, the instructor was enthusiastic, and the black light made it all the better. The classes range from beginner, like me, to advanced returners. The great thing about this class is that you push yourself, but also feel that you can break when you need to. The first class is free along with the cycling shoes, then after that you can buy packages or do drop ins for $16. They offer spin, yoga and TRX classes. They have classes ranging from 5:30 AM to about 7:30 PM, depending on the day. Please try this place out! You will not regret it. read more

Ive really enjoyed going to the union, but if you late cancel they charge you $6 everytime. The union is very expensive to begin with and being charged $6 after that if you cancel is not right. They need to take in account that life happens and things come up. I am very disappointed because i really enjoyed going. After talking with an associate there, they didn't do anything for me.
