I was nervous the first time I went to The Mat because it had been a long time since I had practiced yoga and I'm generally nervous about new places. I was welcomed immediately when I walked in the door, and was told the first class was free. The instructor was fabulous. She provided modifications throughout the practice so that every body could participate at their own level. It was clear after the class that the regulars at The Mat had a great relationship with the instructor. She knew everyone by name and mingled among them conversing about life. Several people approached me after the class and recognized that I was new. They welcomed me and encouraged me to return. Really enjoyed the class I took here. The hot yoga classes are more of a workout than zen but I prefer it this way. The instructor was very helpful in adjusting my poses and gave very clear instruction. Seemed to be a wide range of ages in attendance and a lot of men which is pretty rare. You can just turn up for the class you want and register on the spot. read more
