We happened to be at the licensing shop just around the building and noticed the sign for the Two Seven Public House. It was early dinner time and we decided to give it a try. From the outside it appears to be a hole in the wall bar, but its anything but that. There is a large dining area inside as well as an outdoor seating area when the weather improves. It is roomy and and clean inside. Once we grabbed a table we were met right away by a server. She was fantastic through our entire meal. For the food, we had the Swimming Angel and Cheeseburger Quesadilla. Both were outstanding. The Swimming Angel was just spicy enough without torching your mouth and the quesadilla was both filling and surprisingly tasty. The dipping sauce was also spot on. What a great find for us and when on the South Hill, this will be a more normal stop for us. read more

This place is open pretty late which is great after having league that finishes at 9-10PM. Drinks are solid. The waiter (tattoo sleeves) is amazing at orders, bringing food out, and refilling eaters constantly. Giving this a 2/5 starts because the dish I ordered isn't worth the price and the size of the meal was upsetting when ravenous after playing sports for three hours. Ordered a chicken bbq quesadilla - $15 - and the quesadilla didn't have very much chicken in it... or anything else really. It was just "empty". I'll keep coming back of course, but never ordering the quesadilla again. read more

The 2 7 always hits home with big flavors. The corn chowder is so dang good they post the recipe online (and they've lied somewhere because I've made it to a T and there's is still better). The 74th street gumbo always hits hard, some days more than others. (Sometimes its spicier than others). I miss the salpicon on the menu, but sometimes that is accommodated. The fish tacos are great as well. I've never had bad service here and the restaurant always appears clean. It's a place I always look forward too. This was the first time here and we can't wait to try it again. On this trip we ordered the Gumbo and the Greek Chicken bowl. To start with the gumbo it had great heat. It was spicy and rich and had a great flavor. It was supposed to have chicken, sausage and shrimp but only had chicken and sausage which was a little bit of a disappointment. This presentation was a little different than normal gumbos that serve white rice in the middle, instead they served a seasoned rice mixed in. This comes with three slices of bread and butter which were very tasty. The Greek chicken bowl was very fresh and flavorful. However, it felt a little too light and small for a dinner portion considering the price. After my husband finished he was still hungry. However my dad ordered the marsala pork chops which looked exceptional and next time we'll try those. When we arrived there was nobody else in the restaurant but it quickly filled up so I would plan to get there early. There was great table service and the food arrived quickly. read more

One of my South Hill favorites. The bartenders are wonderful and so accommodating--as is the kitchen. You want it on lettuce instead of rice? No problem. Delicious! Five of us had lunch here yesterday and it was delicious! The food was hot and very fresh! The service was good as well. Mom and son had the Cuban Pork and they thought it was juicy and delicious! The corn pasta and potato salads were wonderful as well! Daughter had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and she loved it! Yes, this is one of my regular hang outs. You really can't go wrong here. Menu changes periodically. Love the bartenders. I get excited for the soup rotation. Also, I typically combine menu items, which I always hear "that sounds good". My "combo#1" is the Southwest Taco Salad with the chicken from the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich...cheese and all. Mmmm. We love these restaurants (the Elk, The Porch, Moontime and Two Seven). They have quite a few overlapping menu items and their daily specials can be found at wedonthaveone.com which we always check out before deciding where we'd like to eat any particular day. I met my son a the Two Seven the other day and the special was scallops which I couldn't resist and they were amazing along with the crunchy cucumber/tomato/feta salad and hummus. But the staples on the regular menu are all good. They also have a decent selection of beer on tap which is a must for my hubby. Went there this evening with my hubby and daughter for a last minute date night before starting a new week. We enjoyed wonderful service. The corn pasta salad is to die for. I got the smash burger and my hubby got the French dip royal. Both were amazing. Since I was feeling under the weather I did get a cocktail called the "Penicillin," which seemed appropriate. Two words. No fries. What kind of burger place doesn't sell fries?????!!! My Caesar salad was good. Not much meat on Cuban pork and not much meat in turkey gouda sandwiches. On a good note they kept refilling my daughters' Shirley temples and only charged for one. Also did not charge for club soda. We love that. Device was slow. Can't recommend. read more

First of all this place is hidden. Find it and you will be happy you did! The bartender was accommodating and the chef will make anything they have on the menu Gluten Free if he can! So I was happy and I had some great mexican food! It was like spicy carnitas and had peppers and rice on the side! I thought that our experience for lunch was a good one. The south hill little gem with old style dining chairs and some yummy drinks. The space is large and dim lit, and cozy. Our server wasn't as helpful as I would have liked but we enjoyed ourselves. Asking questions about the lunch wrap, "ya it's good." Or ordering the gumbo, "well it's super spicy, so...do you like spice?" Asked other questions with dry answers vs. uplifting responses, you know...selling the food. We did get the gumbo and it was flavorful and yes, spicy. There was no shrimp even though it said that it was sausage and shrimp...so...not associated with the menu. The wrap was good, not incredible but good. The potato salad wasn't as great as mine, but I would eat here again to try something else. The drinks were good too. It seems like everything we had here was on the spicy side but the food was very good and just what we needed on such a cold Spokane day. I had the Salpicon, a sort of shredded beef and pepper dish. My head was sweating a bit (not unusual for me!). My son had a gumbo dish he judged equally spicy but tasty. My wife had a black and blue chicken pasta dish. The server did warn us ahead of time and to be fair there is plenty of beer here to wash it all down with. The service was very attentive. Searching the local dining scene as new residents of Spokane, we spotted the Two Seven in our new neighborhood. As we are quickly discovering, good food and friendly service is a hallmark of the South Hill. I ordered the gumbo and my wife enjoyed a huge lunch salad. Fish Tacos and Salpicon I called my order in for take out. When I got my bill, the Salpicon was $15.00 not the $11.95 that came up when I looked on line and the Fish tacos were $14.00 and not $10.95. Should have gone to the web site, my fault! However, there was a $1 charge on each item for take out. This is so totally wrong. I can go anywhere for take out and have done so during the pandemic at least once a week to support our local restaurants. Not once have I encountered an additional charge for take out. Obviously you can't go wrong with the corn pasta as your side of choice and you can spice it up with the good variety of hot sauces they keep on hand. My personal favorite is he French dip. A crusty, carb loaded fancy bakery roll with succulent roast beef, grilled onions and melty cheese. You take this wonder and soak it in (right hand to god) the best au jus in town. Savory and robust...not just some salty beef broth that other places pass off as as jus. The patio, on summer months is cosy and a great place to knock back a few beers with friends.
