I saw that they host events for people to come in and work on their fiber arts a few times a week so this sold me on visiting! When I stopped in, I was greeted and there was space for me to sit down. I even got some help on my project. It was so nice to be community with people who love the fiber arts for a little while. I look forward to supporting their business since they also ship!

After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.

This is an artist dream. They have probably whatever you need for whichever medium your craft is. My gentleman friend took me on Valentine's Day and I found a fluorescent pink 7mm mechanical pencil. I never knew I needed a pencil so badly. They carry the Ferris Wheel Press inks and a few others but I can't remember the name. Most of the inks cost the same as they would online but you don't have to pay shipping and you can view the swatches to get a good idea of the color you're buying. My friends and I love to spend time together baking whatever, really, and they had some experience working with Sarah on other things - biscuits, breads, etc. So when we found out she had moved to this, we signed up immediately! Signing up had a couple of issues, but luckily Lyn as very responsive via email and we got everything straightened out - kudos to her. The space is set up well, but could use a few things - especially for pie making. A larger fridge, primarily. The little wine-sized fridge just could not keep our pie doughs cold enough for the heat of summer and manage the number of times it was opened and closed as we put things in it. Also, the number of stainless steel tables could not manage the 13 people (it was supposed to be 12) - 8 to 10 really needed to be the max. We were elbow to elbow trying to roll out dough and sharing rolling pins, pastry cutters, etc. Not ideal. Sarah rolled with the punches (pun intended) and we somehow managed to get the pies and galettes knocked out. Baking became the real challenge as the oven space and sizes of pies varied a bit - so luckily we were in the middle of the Curb market, so I shopped for my dinner. Bring your own containers for taking things home - they don't really have anything for you to take stuff out in. By the time my stuff was done, there was not a single bag, sleeve, or anything left for me to put my hot pie into. I'll remember this for next time and bring my own boxes, bags, or whatever based on what I sign up for. Sarah was amazing - she managed the class with ease and explained every step of each process - the whys as well as the whats. I felt as if I understood why my doughs have never worked out and what couple of things I could change in the future to make this process easier. I suffered a severe emergency and missed my class and following up with the company as soon as I was able to and was told that I can get zero refund or reschedule. So I am out $200+ dollars. I understand small business cant take a loss on the supplies but it isn't like they couldn't be used in another class. A full or partial refund or reschedule would've helped me a lot in a time of need due to the emergency. I realized just how easy it is to learn online and will be going that route. 1/10 overall. Edit to update: 50% off of a future class????? Like I'm going to come back when you can't give some grace for a mental health CRISIS .. not a "mental health day". I was not in a state to notify ahead of time or I would have. I didn't just forget to put you on my calendar. Just because you're a small business doesn't mean you shouldn't treat people like people if anything you should more so. That is what makes good word of mouth for small businesses. Walking around and getting my brief looksie at all the vendors for I.C.E. shopping spectacular 2015 I was barely able to hold onto my money... First off, I wanted all the succulents and plants and cool looking tapestries, and don't get me started on unique art pieces. But yeah, gorgeous terrariums. Ugh. The overall atmosphere of this place is indie and has a flair of nature, nostalgia, and bohemian dashed with pop and magic. At least that was what this Nov's collection of artists brought to the front. Couldn't get enough of that rustic look, and I'm not complaining. It was first time ever being able to attend. I actually went as a vendor, so I'll kinda mention my experience on being both vendor and just looking around. Vending at this show was really fun. The people, the vendors, they all were generally very friendly. Staff had free coffee for vendors setting up Sat. morning, and free cocoa to vendors and attendees (til it ran out.) The coffee was okay. It was brought in by a small coffee shop, but by far, I enjoyed the free sampling of cocoa. Haha. It's the small things, no? Food wise, they had Yumbii, Doggy Dogg, falafels & gyros, and then there were cookies from Dough Re Mi, and caramel cotton candy. My biggest grip is all these events don't really have much for the non-alcoholic beverage lover. Sunday, was a bit desperate as the coffee vendor from before was not there and replaced with something more Spartan. There was a Kombucha vendor which was nice, but it'd have been nicer to have some specialty teas or drinks that were non-alcoholic at the event. The organizers really out do themselves with all the attention to detail. I originally was a little worried about the layout of the venue since the floor is split in two where a small group of vendors are placed in the garden room and then the majority of vendors are in the more industrial room. I was really worried everyone would flock to the larger room upon entering, but thought it was really cool how they have the ticket booth set in an "L" shape to funnel visitors into the garden room. It's these little things. Been to a lot of shows that just seem to throw you to the wolves -- i.e. selling you a table at the back of the show floor facing a fire exit. What? So yes, big kudos to just how organized everything was.The venue, Georgia Freight Depot, was really nice too! I did end up purchasing a thing or two, and extremely happy with them. Met some amazing artists and crafters and in general had a great time. I highly recommend a visit to I.C.E. if you're looking for any gifts or handcrafted goodies & art. The entry is $5 and as long as it's at the GA. Freight Depot you can find parking at The Underground parking garage for $3 All Day.
