Visiting this store was definitely the highlight of my trip to Atlanta! From the outside, it looks like a small store, but it's pretty large once you get inside. I was really happy with their selection of paper crafting materials, they had fountain pens, regular pens, colored pencils, markers, MT washi, notebooks/bullet journals, and some stickers. Atlanta is lucky to have this place!

She used to sell rubber stamps and foam stamp sets... Anna Griffin started out by professionally creating her own invitations and stationery in the 1990s after majoring in environmental design in college and graduated in 1988, and after she donated her works to charity to get her name out. She even designed for (wedding gown designer) Vera Wang. By 2000s, she moved on towards the scrapbooking . For the past several years, she has made several guest appearances during craft marathons on HSN selling her craft items (mainly floral designs and seasonals/holidays), including craft machines with her name on them. She occasionally held a 'warehouse sale' online to make room for her new lines and participates in trade shows. Her collection is not made in the USA; it's in Taiwan. However, it's decent quality so far. Since her clear stamps are made in Taiwan, they're made with silicone material and not photopolymer (higher quality) so the clear stamps tend to be a bit stubborn to peel off the clear storage backing. Sometimes I watch her live on HSN channel during the marathon, as I like her professional presentation and how she enthusiastically markets her trade. She doesn't rely on in-house reps or send her staff to demonstrate her products in her place. She also has a southern belle stance about her while she stands next to the chatty hosts who sometimes interrupt her as she's demo'ing and enjoys communicating with her customers. I hope she visits my home city where I can get her autograph ;)

Love her paper products! I would love to own every product she designs. So much my style of…read moreflorals.

Nice knitting shop with an in town feminist vibe. Lots of super nice yarns…read more Oh my gosh! What is there to say about a knit shop?

I recently had a private knitting lesson here…read more The instructor begin with telling me the different types of forms yarn comes in, ie. hanks, skeins and balls along with other information about knitting. After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.

Not only was the staff awesome, but they were so flexible. I opted to do a pottery painting party but they also allowed me to bring in my own canvases for a small fee so that the kids could do both mediums. The kids were able to choose from a variety of plaster figurines and cups, pick up to 5 acrylic paint colors, and get more paint as needed. Aprons were also provided so that the kids didn't get their clothes messy. I was able to come 30 minutes early to set up and could bring anything I wanted (including alcohol!). They provided table cloths and balloons of my color choice so that was a huge help with half the decor. The kids all had a great time and my daughter said it was the best party ever. :) One thing to note is that the space wasn't private for our event so there was another group of adults painting. It didn't bother us, but I did feel bad for them when a bunch of 5yo girls showed up. Luckily, they were almost done and good sports about it.

Know what you're paying for: the party is booked for 1.5 hours, but the actual activity (pottery painting) lasts about 30 minutes. That leaves a full hour with nothing planned. When I asked whether the girls could paint on paper to fill the time, the staff rolled their eyes, tossed paper on the table, and refused to give the girls any more paint. These were well-behaved 9-year-olds. The other mothers even commented on how calm the group was. But they are children, and yes, they occasionally got up from their seats. For that, I was told the girls were "misbehaving." Then came the mom-shaming. I was informed that "most mothers" who host parties there come in to decorate the space and sit and paint with the kids, rather than talk with the other parents. As a working mother, I have never been more offended. I paid for a hosted party. I should not be lectured about how a "good" mother spends her child's birthday. Art and Soul is not equipped to host parties. Between the padded schedule, the attitude, and the condescension, this was a miserable experience on a day that should have been about my daughter. Save your money and book somewhere that actually wants your business.

Looking for some spectacular handmade merchandise or gifts? Maybe wanting to start up an art…read morecollection of originals or find new artists? I.C.E. seems to have it covered. Walking around and getting my brief looksie at all the vendors for I.C.E. shopping spectacular 2015 I was barely able to hold onto my money... First off, I wanted all the succulents and plants and cool looking tapestries, and don't get me started on unique art pieces. But yeah, gorgeous terrariums. Ugh. The overall atmosphere of this place is indie and has a flair of nature, nostalgia, and bohemian dashed with pop and magic. At least that was what this Nov's collection of artists brought to the front. Couldn't get enough of that rustic look, and I'm not complaining. It was first time ever being able to attend. I actually went as a vendor, so I'll kinda mention my experience on being both vendor and just looking around. Vending at this show was really fun. The people, the vendors, they all were generally very friendly. Staff had free coffee for vendors setting up Sat. morning, and free cocoa to vendors and attendees (til it ran out.) The coffee was okay. It was brought in by a small coffee shop, but by far, I enjoyed the free sampling of cocoa. Haha. It's the small things, no? Food wise, they had Yumbii, Doggy Dogg, falafels & gyros, and then there were cookies from Dough Re Mi, and caramel cotton candy. My biggest grip is all these events don't really have much for the non-alcoholic beverage lover. Sunday, was a bit desperate as the coffee vendor from before was not there and replaced with something more Spartan. There was a Kombucha vendor which was nice, but it'd have been nicer to have some specialty teas or drinks that were non-alcoholic at the event. The organizers really out do themselves with all the attention to detail. I originally was a little worried about the layout of the venue since the floor is split in two where a small group of vendors are placed in the garden room and then the majority of vendors are in the more industrial room. I was really worried everyone would flock to the larger room upon entering, but thought it was really cool how they have the ticket booth set in an "L" shape to funnel visitors into the garden room. It's these little things. Been to a lot of shows that just seem to throw you to the wolves -- i.e. selling you a table at the back of the show floor facing a fire exit. What? So yes, big kudos to just how organized everything was.The venue, Georgia Freight Depot, was really nice too! I did end up purchasing a thing or two, and extremely happy with them. Met some amazing artists and crafters and in general had a great time. I highly recommend a visit to I.C.E. if you're looking for any gifts or handcrafted goodies & art. The entry is $5 and as long as it's at the GA. Freight Depot you can find parking at The Underground parking garage for $3 All Day.

I love shopping at Indie Craft Experience - not only b/c it supports local businesses and…read moreindividuals, but also the great selection of creative handcrafted goods. I overheard a guy say "it's like Pinterest except not on the computer screen." The event is held over a weekend at the Ambient + Studio warehouse, and there were probably close to 100 different booths -- plus they had a few food vendors like King of Pops and Good Food Truck, and the fabulous LeahandMark.com photo booth :) I think this was the 3rd time I've gone to ICE. I got a few things this year: - Magic Unicorn Sea Salt from "Beautiful Briny Sea Salt" - after taste testing a few different flavors (e.g., Lavender, Rosemary, and Truffle), my favorite was Magic Unicorn. Haha, suspicious name but honest ingredients - pure ocean salt, celery seed, rosemary, granulated garlic, smoked paprika, and lemon juice powder. I also liked their Truffle Sea Salt. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beautiful-Briny-Sea/157240431005788 - Port Wine Caramel from "Sweeteeth" - I'd never tasted such good caramel like theirs ... I went w/ the port wine b/c I liked the the smoky "brulee" type flavor and it also tasted kinda chocolately even though there's no chocolate. Can't wait to use the sauce on apples, ice cream, pies, cakes, and more ... just don't tell my doctor. http://www.sweeteethchocolate.com - Cute bonnet and bib from "Owlette Collective" - some lucky baby's going to get this super cute set. I couldn't resist. http://www.etsy.com/shop/owlettecollective - Goat Milk and Lavender Oatmeal Soap from "Belle Terre" - smelled several of their soaps and this one was my favorite. First I love anything lavender, I'd never heard of goat milk used in soap (and the lady said they are sourced from happy goats who are well-treated), plus the oatmeal is supposed to be a good exfoliator :) I need to hurry and finish up my Ivory. http://belleterrenc.com/home/welcome/ What I didn't get but really liked (and may get later): - Red Fascinator Hat from "LaCocoRouge" - they had a great selection of fun mini-hats that looked like something Carrie Bradshaw would wear ... or anyone attending a Royal Wedding. I just need to find an occasion to wear them :) http://www.etsy.com/shop/lacocorouge Definitely worth a visit, esp. if you love "unique" items :) Oh and they always have great jewelry. Last year, I got one of my favorite necklaces from "Katherine Smith Jewelry" that always gets many compliments. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ksmithjewelry FYI - there's $5 admission to get in.
