Overall, it was a good experience. I felt our instruction was detailed between explaining the why behind steps and demonstrating. We got a lesson in knife skills that was cool. Dishes made: -Paella (chicken and a meatless version for our vegans) -Tortilla chips -Pico de gallo -Guacamole -Sangria My only con was that we started late (more than 20 mins) so there was a lot of waiting around at first. I undetstsnd things can happen which is why thebexprrienfe was overall fun and positive. Once we got going, the pace stayed at a steady flow and we were not rushed out at the end. Would recommend if you're in the Atlanta area. The next group after us was also a corporate event, so I'd say the setup works particularly well for that (groups less than 15).

Our instructor was so entertaining, southern, and sassy (his words lol). He was really patient with some of the people in our group who weren't as experienced in the kitchen and gave tons of tips along the way. I'm not sure it was relaxing haha, but a group of 20 making pasta and sauce from scratch is almost guaranteed to be a chaotic good time. I recommend this for work teams, families who want a group activity, couples, friend groups, or even solo. I'd love to go back and try another cuisine class - there are so many to choose from! Plus there's a drag brunch option that our instructor teaches, which is probably really fun too.

i saw krishna tonight and i realized that i still have not written a post about green eats... there…read moreis no excuse for this because she has had her awesome green/local/delicious catering business for almost a year now and my readers need to know about it. a year ago krishna had a regular boring 9 to 5 office job and dreamed of one day opening her own catering business. she took cooking classes night to hone her skills and graduated from the midwest culinary institute last year. all her friends who had ever eaten her food (including me) were like "you can do it, your food is delicious, people will want it." she was not sure. finally she decided to take the plunge and quit her job and she has been going nonstop ever since. she cooks for people in their homes, does dinner parties and weddings, and she also does fun stuff like cooking demonstrations at park + vine and wine tastings at market wines. i have never been able to get her to nail down prices for me but that is because she will work with each of her clients' budgets to make food that is both delicious and within their price range. most the pictures in this blog are photos of a spanish meal that krishna made for maggie's birthday back in january. it was delicious and muy autentico. maggie used to live in spain back in high school and had very specific recipe and ingredient requests, and krishna was able to give her exactly what she wanted. there are so many catering businesses popping up all over cincinnati right now. even if you are specifically looking for a caterer who focuses on fresh, local ingredients, you have your choice. of course i think you should choose krishna for all your food preparation needs because she is my friend. but also she is just a damn good cook. over the past few years i have tried all different kinds of things she has made... brunches, indian food, appetizers, this extravagant spanish meal, salads, soups, desserts. it is all ridiculously good. i remember one time krishna prepared an afternoon tapas-style cocktail party for her birthday. one of the things she made was this fig and caramelized onion spread with rosemary. i was obsessed with it. i loved it so much that the next time she made it she gave me her extras and i ate it on everything i could think of for days. and the thing is i don't even really like figs that much (i know that's crazy). it's like she just understood the flavor, texture, and qualities of the figs so well that she knew how to make them into something even better than they started off as (suck it, grammar nazis). krishna just knows what she is doing with every ingredient in the kitchen, and spends pretty much every free moment learning about and working with local and sustainable food sources. she is always traveling to different farms to find out where to get the best of whatever specific food product she wants, she belongs to vegetable and meat CSAs, and she is very active in the cincinnati slow food movement. there is nothing she puts in her recipes that doesn't belong, and at the same time she comes up with totally unique flavor and ingredient combinations. her food is clean and fresh. the flavors and ingredients are distinct, bold, and thoughtfully created. everything always looks amazing and tastes just as good as it looks.

I was visiting ATL for the weekend and wanted to visit some yarn stores so the Craftivist came up in my research. I saw that they host events for people to come in and work on their fiber arts a few times a week so this sold me on visiting! When I stopped in, I was greeted and there was space for me to sit down. I even got some help on my project. It was so nice to be community with people who love the fiber arts for a little while. I look forward to supporting their business since they also ship!

I recently had a private knitting lesson here…read more The instructor begin with telling me the different types of forms yarn comes in, ie. hanks, skeins and balls along with other information about knitting. After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.
