Love, love, love this knitting boutique! They have taken my knitting to new levels with their expert lessons and assistance. I can now knit sweaters with confidence, and they are always there to help me if I mess up. The yarns are best. So much to choose from: Cashmere, alpaca, superwash wool, camel, and cotton and silk for knitting in the summertime -- just to mention a few! So much to choose from. And if I want to knit a furry critter or a doll for a child, the have good quality yarn at a more affordable pricepoint (luxury yarn v. budget). Plus I can count on them to always have the needle size I need to start my project -- not to mention beautiful project bags, tools needed for your project, notions, etc. And for at least the last year, they have expert CROCHET classes! Yes, I did say crochet because it seems like it's the new "in" thing to do! I did take a lesson from their crochet instructor and it was truly a lot of fun! I like to visit (and buy) yarn when I travel. I always seek out specialty yarn shops and do expect to pay more there. But these prices do seem quite high. Initially, I waited for them to open and gave up 20 mins after they were supposed to open and they were still closed. Never did reply to my message asking if they plan to open that day. But I went back later in the day and they were open. Three people there at the table, unsure if they were all staff or just hanging out. One did ask if I needed anything so that was great. Then they went on to loudly complain about all the worlds problems and one was swearing so often and so loud that I just got uncomfortable and left. I swear too so it honestly takes a lot to turn me off but it was intense. All in all, not peaceful and very bad vibes all around. read more

They stay up to date on the various trends as they obtain input from their customers on possible knitting projects. This is a cozy little shop with a relatively small selection of yarn. The prices are on par with others around town, although I think the notions (needles) had a pretty hefty markup. There was a small group of ladies knitting, including the owner and her daughter. 2 things made it so I won't set foot in this shop again. One was the owner standing over me while I was looking at yarn. I need some personal space and time to think! The other thing was a borderline antisemitic comment. I almost walked out and left my yarn behind because I was extremely uncomfortable. I don't offend easily, either. The owner's daughter was talking about how she bought and paid for her car in high school with money from work (I guess implying she wasn't spoiled like people might think?). Then, she went on to say, "And all the spoiled Jewish kids rolled up in Escalades." The other women laughed. I am Jewish and have many Jewish friends, none of whom drove Escalades in high school (and even if it were true, it's still offensive). If she had replaced Jewish with another minority group, it would be straight-up racist. As my dad would say, I went there for the second time (the first and the last). read more

I stopped into this yarn shop on a drive back home from Florida. This shop is beautiful and has a great selection. They especially had Sandnes Garn Line which I needed for a sweater. They were having a knitting club at the time and I wish I was local so I could join in. The owner was very kind and helpful. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely go back here! Selection was okay, but overall vibe was weird. No one approached us to help, despite the fact we were there for a while and confused, due to how disorganized the stock was. Skeins rarely had prices. Also, there were these signs around the shop that came across as super antagonistic, hence the weird vibe. Prices were also crazy high. read more

As far as I can tell this is the only yarn shop in Atlanta. I am a knitter, and so when we were visiting Atlanta from California I wanted to get some yarn as a souvenir. This was a really nice shop with a large selection. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I bought some lovely silk yarn that had been hand dyed by the owner's mother. I haven't knitted since high school, which, let's just say, was decades ago. I king of remembered that there were two stitches, knit and purl. Beyond that forget it. I stopped at Yarning for Ewe to see if I could buy a beginner kit. Perhaps a hat, a scarf or even easier, a pot holder. When I went into the store, I was amazed to see many completed knitted projects from hats, to blankets, to wraps, to sweaters, and lacy garments. I had no idea that this quality could be achieved by a hobby-knitter. The owners are passionate and patient. I have taken several one-on-one classes, and completed my first project (well almost) which is a beautiful wrap. No potholders for me! I am now involved in a knit-along where we are learning to make a blanket with building blocks squares. It's a fun way to learn different stitches. The class size of 6 beginners like me makes the class very interactive and fun. I am also making new friends. An added bonus I never expected. If I ever run into a problem knitting on my own, I can run into the store and they help me fix my mistake and move on. You won't find this kind of experience or yarn quality online or at a big box retailer. If you really want to learn to knit, take lessons, and buy the right products from truly qualified knitting professionals. read more

I really don't know how the shop is; I didn't go in because of the dog that barked at the person who walked in before me. I just don't get it. Why do you have a dog in a fiber shop? I don't want my yarn to smell like dog. I don't want to be bothered by an animal while shopping. I most certainly don't want to be barked at upon entering a shop. I love animals. I have pets. A fiber shop is not an appropriate place to have an animal that isn't a trained and on duty service dog. read more

I called Yarning for Ewe because I needed help with a sweater I'm knitting. I asked how much it would be to get help and I was told on the phone that it would be $35/hour. The woman who helped me was pretty terrible at teaching so I settled for having her just pick up the 65 stitches I was struggling with. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the experience but at least I can progress with the sweater now. Then I get to the register and I'm told I owe $48, because it's "a little extra" when you don't purchase the yarn from their store. It was abundantly clear from my initial phone call that I already owned the pattern and yarn. Suffice it to say I'll never be going back--It feels really awful to be taken advantage of. read more

One of the best yarn stores I have every been to. I am originally from NJ, and felt lost without a connection to a yarn store here in GA until I found Yarning for Ewe. Came in several years ago and wasn't even greeted. Now I come at 11:15 when they were supposed to open at 11. Sign on door says no more than two at a time and to call the number on the sign to get entry. I called. All I got was a recording. I stopped in on my way through Atlanta and thought I would see what kind of yarns they carry. I spent over $400 in this store and some items had to be shipped to me. Almost a month later I got and email stating my orders have been shipped. I was told it would take 2 weeks. I called every week and same answer. Their order hasn't arrived. I was told that as soon as they arrived they will be shipped to me overnight but that wasn't the case. Their words are not to be trusted. Finger pointing between sisters instead of owning up to the promise made to customers. Very disappointing in this store. read more

Great shop, very friendly, and has some unique silk yarn from India. Good selection of Euro Flax and associated yarns. Betty was very friendly, and gave us good directions to find the store. Betty from her samples is a VERY good knitter and so can help you work out any problems you might encounter. Would come back again, and sit an knit for a while. read more

I received the worst customer service at this shop. I purchased 7 skeins of yarn at $20/skein. Over the next weekend, I opened and wound one skein and tried to knit a guage swatch. I tried several types and sizes of needles, but I did not like the fabric. Their website said that they would accept returns of unwound yarn. I went back the following week, to return 6 of the 7 skeins (and I was going to "try" and find something else) but they would not take the yarn back. Maansi (the manager) cited a post-it note low on the side window glass that said no yarn returns due to Covid, this was May, 2022 and there was no mention of that on their website (or when I made my $200 purchase in their shop). They said that they would not be able to return it to the shelf, because it had left the store. Note - there is not a mask policy in the store and they have people around the table in the store all the time - breathing on the same yarn. My yarn never came out of their bag. This was such a rip-off. I was looking for a place to shop local. I spend quite a bit on my knitting supplies, but to be treated like this is absurd. Then they called to offer me a "store credit" less 15% for the honor of now returning my yarn (that they can now re-sell at full price, but swore that wouldn't be the case). Such a scam. I don't want anything else from them. They have now lost my business. I hope that they realize that if they continue to treat their customers this way, that they will not be able to maintain their business. I will sell this yarn online, or I will give it away before I go back into this store. I will continue to support Eat Sleep Knit - who has wonderful customer service and other local businesses. I also just ordered $250 from a California yarn shop that treats their customers like they value them. Side note: I noticed later that the yarn that I purchased was priced at two different prices, of course, I was charged the higher marked price. Just another lesson - I will shop where my hard earned dollars are appreciated - it will definitely not be here. Buyer beware. read more

Overcharged for remnant yarn, $70 a ball, for a 150 order. They insulted me and my friend when I realized what they did. Generally a nasty , pushy, arrogant attitude. Clearly they do not expect repeat business. GO ELSEWHERE. Will not accept returns of anything. read more

This is a fantastic example of a what every local yarn store should be, but sadly most are not. It's a family-owned business and these people know their craft -- very well. This store has beautiful yarns, but I do not recommend the knitting classes. Betty is not an easy, understanding teacher. She is forceful, will rip out your work if she doesn't like it, and your enthusiasm to learn is in spite of her, not because of her. We first met Betty through the Living Social offer. Due to our commitment to learn, my friend and I signed up and paid for the additional $50 class series. A car accident forced me to reschedule our class. After my friend's child care arrangements fell through on our rescheduled date, I called to see if it was possible to reschedule for a date my friend could make it. I realize this is annoying and inconvenient, but Betty's reaction was beyond unprofessional. Betty yelled so loud that my cube mates could hear every word from their desks. She never shared the reschedule policy. She was so angry and demeaning that I decided to forfeit my $50 to avoid the experience of being around her. I feel bad posting this review, as I think Betty is probably a nice person struggling to get her small business of the ground, but I want to spare any other customers my experience. A large part of business is customer service and there is great room for this business to improve. read more

I bought some knitting classes from Yarning for Ewe a few years back. I was disappointed when during one class, the teacher spoke on the phone rather than helping me with my knitting. She also complained to me about other students not showing up for the class. Not very professional. During another class, she spent the whole time helping someone who walked into the shop. My lesson time came and went and I hadn't actually had a lesson. I wouldn't recommend this shop. read more

Who knew that one fated visit for humble felting needles would turn into my love affair with fine yarn and the world of knitting. Not yet a knitter, I wandered through Yarning for Ewe and couldn't believe my fingers. They have a large variety of yarns from fine fingering weight to extra bulky yarn. Thanks to the patience of the staff at Yarning for Ewe, I now can call myself a knitter. They taught and still teach me the craft. They are patient and encouraging. They are like family to me and many other customers. On Monday nights they have knit nights, and everyone is invited to come in to crochet or knit. If they carry a yarn brand and a specific color or weight that is not in the store, you can always ask them for a special order. If they can order it for you, they will. With a smile. Side note. I recently moved. The ladies where I live told me about Yarning for Ewe as they know I knit. I went and found this shop today and the owner Betty. Betty is everything you want in knitting.. Pleasant and helpful. Willing to go the extra steps it takes for some of us. I will definitely go back to her shop, and I recommend others going and checking it out. I absolutely love this place! The entire family is awesome. Every time I step foot in this store, I feel welcome. When I leave, I feel so inspired and like I'm the best knitter ever! They are always encouraging me to try new things, and as a seasoned knitter, you need a little nudge from time to time. Also, the owner of the store is an amazing fiber artist (knitter/crocheter) - she brings a tremendous passion and experience to the table. Her projects are some of the most fine garments I've ever seen in a yarn shop. Period. Yarning for Ewe is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to be in Atlanta. I used a voucher deal to try Yarning for Ewe. Scheduling was difficult because the only times available when I called where doing the week. Well...I work during the day. So I went over my lunch break. I did not know in advance that the class was going to be just me. So that was a bit weird when I showed up. The instructor seemed to really know her stuff, but I was expecting a bit more out of the class. All we did with our time was do the base for the crochet and then back and forth single and double crochets. I knew those things before. And the instructor was very adamant about how I held the crochet hook. I had been holding my needle a particular way (as I had been taught earlier) and she kept telling me to stop and forced me to crochet her way. That was very annoying as it was not comfortable for me to do it her way. And guess what- I am going to go back to my way. So I wasn't very satisfied with the services. And was not looking forward to any package deals that she was offering. The instructor is a very talented knitter and crocheter (I looked at her stuff), but is not the best teacher. From the first time I walked into the store, I felt welcomed and encouraged. This is a family owned business and they treat their customers like family. They want their customers to succeed and encourage them along the way. After all, if you succeed in your knitting, you are more likely to return to them for more supplies for more projects. It is a win win situation. If you have bought yarn or had a class and you get stuck, they are happy to help you get back on track. Just want to sit and knit among others? I do all the time. In fact, if you are there on a Monday or Thursday, there is a good chance you will see me there knitting and chatting! They sell a variety of yarns at several price points.
