I know they also have to deal with kids throwing a tantrum and probably some parents doing the same, but it still just sounds like a fun job to do. Perhaps this will be my retirement gig. There are so many creative lego kits that appeal to all ages and interests. I saw legos that looked like post cards of world travel, there were vases of flowers, World Cup soccer memorabilia, Star Wars figurines and space ships. For those who prefer to strike it alone, head to the back of the store to load up on individual lego pieces of different colors and sizes to concoct your own dream creation. This store is always packed, so bring your patience as you try to maneuver through the narrow aisles teaming with delighted children. Many of the projects kits are expensive, but you can find smaller ones that might fit a tight budget. Whether you spend money here or not, it's fun to cruise the aisles and marvel at all of the unique designs.

It's a fun trip down memory lane, though it doesn't fully capture the magic of the original stores from the 80s and 90s. The store is now franchised rather than corporately owned, which changes the feel a bit. Prices are on the higher side, and while there are some interesting and unique items, there weren't many Toys"R"Us exclusives beyond a Geoffrey the Giraffe pop. Still, the store is clean, organized, and has plenty to explore, whether you're a collector, a parent, or just a kid at heart. A nostalgic stop, but not quite the full experience of the original Toys"R"Us. The guy at the front door was really nice.

I placed an order through the app for in-store pickup and received confirmation that it was ready two hours before I arrived. When I got to the store, my order was nowhere to be found. After checking the pickup area multiple times, I asked an employee for help. Instead of trying to figure out what happened, I was repeatedly asked if I was sure I ordered from this location, if someone else had picked it up, and if I had actually received confirmation. Yes, I was at the correct store. Yes, I received the confirmation. No, nobody else picked it up. What bothers me most is the pickup system itself. Orders are placed in bins right by the entrance, and customers simply walk up, grab their order, and leave. You don't have to show an employee your order confirmation, scan anything, or verify that the order you're taking actually belongs to you. It's basically an honor system for prepaid merchandise sitting right next to the door. Unsurprisingly, my order appears to have been taken by someone else. Mistakes happen, but this feels completely preventable. The entire point of in-store pickup is convenience, and this was the complete opposite. As a frequent Michaels customer, I expected much better, and I definitely will not be placing another pickup order at this location.

Considering I used to work at a used books store, I understand how the buying model works and considering how affordable their clothes are, I thought I got a fair trade. In actuality, they only bought 41 items and they allowed me to donate the rest (thank goodness because I did not want to bring them back home). Most of the clothes I brought in ended up being donated, which was ok by me. They're really looking for new looking clothes. If it looks worn, it will probably be donated. The staff was nice but most weren't wearing masks. They're pretty far away from you for the most part so it's not a big deal. They were very busy but had a positive attitude and worked as fast as they could (I waited an hour). You have the option to leave the store too if you don't want to shop. As for shopping while I waited, their racks are full and well organized. I ended up buying 3 outfits and left the store with about 25 bucks. They also sell strollers, toys, activity centers, walkers, backpacks, play pens, etc at good prices. I would definitely come back the next time we clean out the closet. What really saddens me is in Texas there are now only four stores left. The one at Grapevine Mills is great! They have so much to offer us Disney enthusiasts. And sometimes their sales are so good, it's almost unbelievable. I bought some Alice in Wonderland stuffed collectibles for less than $10. What I miss though, is the unique Disney displays. That was almost as magical as the store itself. It's the one thing I really miss. The service today was everything you would expect from Disney - attentive, enthusiastic, helpful, and informative. There were three people working at the store and each one made us feel special.
