What's not to love about Michaels? Halloween is coming up so all decor was 70% this trip - amazing deals and such cute items! They already have the Christmas stuff up too! So many options for DIY and crafts. It's impossible to leave this store empty handed.

This review is for the custom framing department located at this Michaels. Although I have been here several times before with no problems. I recently went it to get priced a custom framing job for 4 art pieces. At the time, Michaels was having a great promotion on custom framing and I decided to take advantage of the offer. I ended up spending roughly an hour here matching mat colors to the colors in my paintings. Our sale associate was named Ken and he did a fabulous job making sure the mats matched perfectly to the artwork. Don't get me wrong I was a little unsure how it would come out and was not too happy about all the money I was investing. However, I wanted each piece to look great as I purchased them from a different country and don't know when I will be back to buy more. Overall, the service provided to me was great and I highly recommend Ken when you need something custom framed. It was worth every penny I paid! :)

I just had some framing work done at Michael's and it came out perfectly. I've had them frame other things for me in the past (photos, art, diplomas), each time having a positive experience. Their staff has always been helpful and friendly. I feel better taking things here versus other professional framers because I feel I'm not paying an arm and a leg to get nice work. It also seems like they mail out coupons every week. They offer a huge variety of frames and mats to choose from. No issues with matching the colors I needed at all. If you aren't looking for pro framing work, then they also have a lot of normal frames to choose from - lots of styles, colors, sizes and variety.

Time to pick up some spray cans and pick a wall to be artistic on lol

My husband and I took turns working on our Gudetama rug and I think it turned out pretty well! The staff here are super helpful during the tutorial as well as guiding you at the end to fill in gaps to make your rug as fluffy as possible. We had an appointment last weekend for four of us. When we arrived, we had an extra child and were told that we would be required to pay a 12% gratuity because of the size of our party. I'm unsure what the gratuity would be for. We were shown the policy - it said for parties of 6 and up - which we clarified and she said she miscounted. There was no service offered other than a brief training on how to do the craft. We were not allowed to choose our own colors but were encouraged to pick from the ones that were pre-opened to not be wasteful. When we picked our pieces, we were warned many times that we would be charged if we were wasteful in our usage of the clay - and clearly that is a subjective decision. When asked at the end any advice on getting the clay out of clothing, she said "it doesn't" - which would have been helpful to know at the beginning when you have 3 kids under 10. I asked if they had aprons - and mentioned that it would have been helpful if this doesn't come out of clothes - and she said they do, but it's only available for parties and for an extra fee. Again - communication would have been incredibly helpful up front. At the end, we were cleaning up our station and the employee asked us to put away the four remaining beads that were left on the table. It seemed like an easy way for her to help us get out the door more quickly when she had nothing else to do but sit on her phone. At the end she wrote down the dry times for our pieces - 5 days - which again - would have been helpful to know at the beginning. Lastly - they sold some glass cups that our daughters wanted. One was marked $13, one $15 for the same cup. When we asked - she said they were $15, but there is a deal at 2 for $30. Not sure where the deal is in that - and when we made that comment - she shrugged -clearly annoyed. For a unique art place such as this, where creativity and art should be encouraged - there was a very big missed opportunity in making this a special place - I won't be back.

We all booked online and were able to pick which lamp we wanted to design. I chose the swan lamp. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and once checked in we got situated at a table with a few other guests. I am in love with the space. First off, it's in a business area, and on a Sunday, there was no one else around. My GPS had difficulty finding the exact spot but once I had the suite number it was easy to find. When we walked in you could see how bright and airy this space is. Before the start of class, we had time to chit chat and walk around to get ideas for our lamps. Our teacher (I think her name was Oun?) was super sweet and walked us through each step. The first step is laying out your design. We were served Turkish coffee and a Turkish treat, (for an extra charge) during this step. During the step where we glue on the tiles we were served the pomegranate tea that came with the price of the class. At the end of our 2+ hours we were given instructions on how to make the cement to seal all the mosaic tiles in and once I do that, I will post photos of my finished product. We all had a blast and would 100000% recommend coming here to get artsy.

I just completed my first-ever drawing classes with artist and art educator, Tina Cauller. One word: phenomenal. It is hard to find beginning drawing classes for adults in the Dallas area, and I couldn't find many reviews of Tina's classes before joining. Now, having completed the course, I wonder if the few prior reviewers had even turned up to class?! I loved her traditional teaching format, which incrementally built lessons on subjects that drawing students have studied for centuries. The excellent and thorough technical instruction, along with a relaxed and supportive art practice environment, gave me time for trial and error. The amount of growth in every student in the class from first to final class was outstanding. Tina has extensive experience and translates it into interesting, engaging, and supportive learning-to-draw lessons, making me believe I can draw anything I set out to. So satisfying and highly recommended. If you have been looking for a beginning drawing class, treat yourself, and don't wait!

My 9 year old grandson wasn't too excited to go but once he stepped inside and saw a shark tooth, he was all over it! Even hubby was so impressed and glad he tagged along. My granddaughters found so many pretty things but I limited everyone to two items each. The girls each wanted a shell ring and a turtle jewelry pendant. HUGE selection of jewelry making supplies, including stone, jewels, metal findings, etc. and so many beautifully polished rocks and stone pieces and crystals. The prices seemed very reasonable. After we took the grandkids to the Perot museum last summer and they loved the huge rock displays, my oldest granddaughter wanted a rock tumbler for her birthday. We did fulfill that wish and even helped her tumble a couple of sets of rocks over the month long process. I brought our results with us to the store. I asked the young lady at the counter about what might have happened. The kind older man behind the counter walked by and asked so nicely if he might step in to help. He explained that rocks have different levels of hardness and we could probably get best results by tumbling all like rocks at a time. Makes perfect sense! I was just so impressed at how kind (to us and to each other) and helpful everyone was. I think it was a father (owner perhaps?) and daughter working together and the working relationship was beautiful to experience. Everyone had a great experience at Rock Barrell and can't wait to return!

However, after spending over an hour in the car to try to get here from my aunt's house in Greenville, I was rudely yelled at by the owner when entering the store. "We close in 6 minutes!!!" This was the beginning of the end for me... I live in Houston so I only get to come here when I'm in town visiting family or if I make a special trip to come stock up on fabric. I happened to be in town the weekend of Easter and tried to come here on the Friday before Easter, only to find a handwritten sign on the door that they were closed (for Good Friday) and would be open again the next day. That was a bummer, but I asked my husband if we could try to come back on Saturday as I bought fabric from here previously and I needed more of it. My family in the area lives in Greenville, so it was quite a drive to get here from their house. I saw here on Yelp that they close at 4:30pm, so we rushed and I ended up walking in 6 minutes to 4pm. How do I know this? Because as soon as I walked in, the owner screamed "we close in 6 minutes!!!" at me. I responded, "online says 4:30pm and I'm from out of town". She rudely replied "well online is wrong - we've tried to fix it but it's wrong". I rushed to grab my fabric and with 2 minutes left to 4pm, she yelled from the front "are you ready to check out?!" They had already rushed everyone else (all 2 other people) out the door and I was the only one left. Listen, I get that it was a Saturday and you're trying to go home....but you weren't open the day before due to a holiday and you now have a customer in front of you who's ready to spend money and also told you that she's in from out of town... To be treated so rudely, by the OWNER, nonetheless, is absolutely unacceptable. Next time I'm in town, I'm sticking to spending my money at the other 3 fabric warehouses next door as I will NOT be coming back to this place.
