Nestled away off the main highway, The Tollhouse is an adorable, little restaurant with delicious food and welcoming locals. We stopped on the way from Edinburgh to Inverness for a bite to eat.
It was a cool and blustery day so we opted not to sit outside on the open air front porch for lunch. We made our way up the stairs and inside where there are only a few tables, but this out of the way place wasn't busy enough for us to have to wait. The menu was quite nice. I had a Ploughman's lunch with assorted local cheeses and a lovely meat pie. Hubby had a sandwich that he really enjoyed. They have a decent red wine and some yummy local beer. For dessert, the owners threw in some homemade Scottish shortbread for free.
We really wanted to experience a locals place while in Scotland and The Tollhouse was perfect. Hard to find, but do yourself a favor and hunt it down. read more
