I highly recommend eating at this great restaurant. Call ahead to make reservations, since they don't open usually until 530 (17:30). Great ambiance, service and food were delicious. Europe 2023 - Scotland FAST we arrived late to Loch Ness area, and our hotel recommended Fiddlers. Food: The roasted Cod Loin Cullen was amazing!!! Lots of flavors to pull out of this dish, with the chowder, Cod and Smoked Haddock. Just amazing. My wife had the chicken salad which she enjoyed. I had the malt of the day which was a great choice. Atmosphere: we did not have reservations so we popped in and put our names on the list and went back to our hotel since it was raining and there really isn't much waiting room inside. But the place has a great bar and decorations, mostly of bottles of whiskeys. Service: excellent service. Tip: if you can get a reservation, but if the weathers nice there are tables outside. read more

We found out you REALLY need reservations to eat here. Once we finally got in, we found the food to be really good. They have a great selection and the 7 of us had a great meal. They have just about every brand of scotch you can image and have a list that breaks it down by bottom shelf, middle and top (the good stuff) I would definitely go back here when I am in the city again. read more

Excellent food and service! Staff helped steer us in the right direction. Two venison choices (hubby picked slow roasted). He loved it. I had fresh salmon with a Dijon and cheese sauce. It worked! After the trip to Dunvegan, this is a nice area to stop in. Be aware that a lot of buses bring tourists to this area so if you keep away from meal times you should be fine to get a seat and service. I really liked this little place, lots of wood so looks like an old fashioned bar but they do have flower baskets hanging outside and have pretty tables. I had the chicken burger and G had the highland platter which comes with chicken liver pate, duck, and a variety of different meats. I would recommened the loch ness strawberry cider, it isnt sweet and has a lovely dry edge to it. I loved it so much more than the wine I ordered. This place does do a whiskey tasting and the staff is really helpful and well informed when it comes to giving you recommendations and helping you decide what works for your flavor palate. read more

We stopped here after viewing the castle and the loch. We stepped in and were asked if we had a reservation. It was 6:30 on Wednesday and we did not. The hostess consulted with the bar tender and they determined that we could have the table by the door until 7:30. We got the last table available without a reservation. The decor is old pub but upscale. All the bottles of whisky are displayed around the room, by style and type. There are different kinds of memoribelia around the place. We both ordered the pub burger with bacon and local cheddar, served with chips and cole slaw. The burger when delivered was quite large and cooked to well. The toppings were tasty and fresh and the fries were of the ZOMG they're delicious. Make your reservations to eat here, you won't be disappointed. read more

Is a wonderful surprise while we were staying in Drumnadrochit. It has an amazing selection of whiskey and a very knowledgeable staff. For whiskey lovers that makes it five stars. Additionally the food and service were excellent. We ate there twice during our stay and both times were very enjoyable. The first time we had the smoked salmon salad and the lamb prepared two ways. The salmon was perfectly prepared and the salad was lightly dressed with warm potatoes and tomatoes. The salad itself was basic but the salmon and portion size more than made up for it. The lamb two ways was excellent with lamb Kabob being cooked perfectly with a deep lamb flavor. The other lamb preparation was a lamb stew in a wine reduction which was deep in flavor and a compliment to the lamb kabob. The second time was even more spectacular with us having a wonderful appetizer of salmon and shrimp in a very light tarter/fish sauce/thousand island dressing that was hard to describe but delicious. Then came venison that was some of the best we have ever had, with a melt in your mouth texture and rich slightly gamy flavor that made you go back for more. The green peppercorn and black pudding Finished off this spectacular plate.The other dish was a perfectly cooked medium rare rib eye. It was delicious but nothing special just a perfect piece of meat which is excellent for the less adventurous, add a nice green peppercorn or blue cheese sauce to spice it up. We finished with a whiskey sponge with coconut ice create, caramel and whiskey cream. It was not too sweet, not too boozy and way too delicious. Worth every calorie. Both nights the staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They were packed both nights (you really need reservations). Regardless of you interest in whiskey the food is a reason to go here, but if you like whiskey it is definitely the place for you. I cannot begin to describe the entire selection they have and they will help you find the seam that fits you. read more

Cute place. Definitely authentic decorations and the walls were lined with different bottles of whiskey and scotch. It was a beautiful day out but if you wanted to eat here, you could only sit inside. The seating outside was meant for their quicker "food truck" options. Almost everyone that came in asked to sit outside and some left since they couldn't. We didn't want the options outside since it was the usual fried fish and chips and such so we opted to dine in the actual restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and quick. We ordered the garlic cheese bread to start. I decided to get the fish stew for my lunch. The garlic cheese bread came out and it was a lot!! I didn't expect so much cheese and so many pieces but my BF and I ate it all. The fish stew was small but filling since there was huge chunks of potatoes and fish in it. It also came with a little bread to dip. I enjoyed it! Easy place and good food. I would definitely recommend if you want food rather than food truck food. read more

We ate lunch in the restaurant just before it closed after lunch, and then went next door to the cafe for a coffee. The food was okay; I'd probably have given it 3 stars but the service warranted a drop. The wait staff didn't seem terribly concerned about my request to assure my meal didn't contain gluten, and I couldn't get the bill afterwards because they were too busy trying to close up. They do have an allergen list available but it didn't totally match the current menu. Not many options for gluten free or vegetarians. The coffee shop queue was chaos, more of a pile up, and employees didn't seem too concerned to help people through it. Espresso is no good. I'd say skip it, but I'm not sure there are many other options in this town. read more

I agree, it is a quite touristic place but what would you expect at a place literally situated at Loch Ness? But: we had a great dinner and for the first time a real haggis. The whisky bar is incredible as already mentioned in many previous reviews. The waiters were friendly, nothing to complain about. I tried my first ever haggis here.....covered in whiskey cream sauce. Yum. To be honest, I thought it was decent, but haggis may not always be my first choice. Cooked well, and I liked the cream sauce. The chicken pate and the chutney was quite delicious, and a nice, albeit very rich, meal when combined the two appetizers. After a cruise on Loch Ness and exploring Urquhart Castle, Fiddlers was the perfect spot to rest our feet and have a bite of lunch. My husband ordered the venison chili and I ordered the soup of the day. Both were hearty and tasty. Before we chose Fiddlers, we were told that the owner knows all there is to know about single-malt scotch. Still, we weren't fully prepared for the incredible selection! Forget a distillery tour through Scotland--just go to Fiddlers. They have you covered! My husband was able to get a dram of Glen Ord, which is a rarity. The restaurant was cozy and simple. If you like scotch, it's a must. If you need a bite of lunch, the options are all a little on the heavier side, but the food was good. I look forward to returning someday. read more

This place is out of the way but along the main road on the west side of Loch Ness. There is not a lot in Drumnadrochit except this place. Thankfully, this little inn holds a hell of a lot of Whisky. It has within its walls a lot of Whisky and people who love whisky. They have a Whisky Library which includes all of the Named Scottish Single Malts from Aberfeldy to Tullibardine. They also have a special place in their hearts for the Islays and Skye malts. Two of my favourites They explore the areas of Cask Strength, Un-chill filtered and naturally coloured whiskies. All good things worth fighting for and tasting. So, fitting in amongst the big yins is this wee man. Who can stand up to anyone on the Whisky Pilgrimage. read more

Very nice place for a quick lunch or just a cup of (really good) coffee. In addition to some of the more bring souvenirs they also have a very impressive collection of rare Scottish whiskies. The scones are nice but instead of clotted cream they give you butter ... a slight disappointment. Sandwiches are fresh and good. read more

My boyfriend stopped at Fiddler's and had fish and chips from the food truck. It was the best fish and chips we both may have ever had. So fresh, so crispy, didn't get all soggy from the malt vinegar, super huge portions. We were super impressed and most likely will be back soon. I also grabbed a "gypsy" cookie from the cafe that was delicious. It was an oatmeal whoopie pie with lemon and ginger. Very tasty. read more

I guess if you are a tourist you might find yourself eating in Fiddlers. From a tourist perspective it's not bad - the prices are inflated as you would expect and the food is fairly decent. It's not so good if you are a local looking for somewhere to eat - they never change the menu and it costs a fortune. The venue itself is pretty cool with lots of quirky features and some fantastic art work on the walls (very little mention of nessie). The staff are friendly, helpful and the service is great. It is at it's best in the middle of summer when you can sit outside and watch the world go by. read more

Had a wonderful lunch! Highland beef casserole and chips. Food was piping hot and the chips were perfection! I'm a chip (French fry) snob and the perfect chip is crisp and crunch on the outside and soft on the inside - and these were absolutely perfect. The casserole was very good too - good size chunks of beef and veggies and a wonderful thick broth. This beef casserole wasn't on the menu - it was one of their daily specials. read more

We stumbled across the fiddlers when visiting loch Ness in August We had to wait for a table for a meal as they were running a system where meals were served at particular times during the day and the two sitting we say were but completely full. The menu was quit small but the food was great and I didn't think it was too pricy considering it was clearly geared up for the passing tourist trade. The service was good. Pork Belly and then Highland chicken, which included a bit of haggis, my first, and was very good. Staff is friendly and attentive. What a find! You'd never expect this treasure in the middle of The Highlands! We were told by our lodging hosts that this was good food. What an underestimate! The food was some of the best we had while in Scotland for over 1 month! The salmon was so fresh, it must have been caught that day! The haggis, I know, not for everyone, but I must say, if you're willing to put the ingredients behind you'll be able to experience a wonderfully prepared dish; it comes with a whisky sauce that is so good you'll want to eat it like soup! Yes, the atmosphere is different; there is a pub feeling, but there is restaurant seating available too. If you ever find yourself at Urquhart Castle or in Inverness, make the trip up here. We arrived Drumnadrochit on a Saturday evening at a local B&B and were told this place filled up. Went over and it was very full for hours--completely booked because some auto show nearby. But John saw our crestfallen faces and took good care of us with drinks, some chips, and eventually, when the crowd finally thinned, a lovely dinner. Very fun, inviting, and creative good food. The Whiskey Library is amazing--ask them to fix a flight according to your Scotch preferences. Yes this is the only place in Drumnadrochit but it's worth a drive to get there! read more

The daughter and I are on a trip around much of Scotland and stopped in Drumnadrochit for the night, staying in a B&B next to this restaurant. Let me say already I'm not quite sure they quite deserve the four stars but I feel generous tonight, surely somewhat influenced by the whiskies I consumed. You see, this place takes pride in Scotch whisky and in Scotch beer and they have an impressive collection of both, especially the former. As for the food, I chickened out and didn't have the haggis, but at least I had the set menu that included rollmops for a first course. It was delicious and the salmon for the main course was fine too, just nothing to really write home about. But I had two Scottish beers, a quite local Cairngorm Nessie's Monster Mash (they didn't have the Sheepshaggers Gold) and the not quite as local Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, both pleasant acquaintances, and as has already been mentioned, later on I tried three great whiskies: Glenfarclas 17 yrs, Glenlivet 18 yrs and Old Pulteney 17 yrs. I'm no whisky connaisseour and liked them all but most so the Old Pultney. Now, this is a review of Fiddler's and not of whisky or beer, but I want to point out that if you go here, and you willingly drink, you owe it to yourself to explore their broad holdings of whisky.
