We stopped here before going to John o'Groats and the full Scottish hit the spot. If not for this breakfast the trip simply would've been a disaster. The lady working the tables was very friendly however was spread thin. The cafe is small but all the tables were full and she was WORKING. Lovely spot for breakfast. Cute decor, with a nod to old Hollywood cinema. Like most places in Inverness, it's small and can get crowded fast. If there's a wee wait, it's worth it. I tend to order and enjoy things which I normally would not make myself. Especially so when I travel. To that end, the full Scottish it is. This is not a light meal. It isn't nuanced. Not delicate. It's a well-crafted left-jab and right-uppercut of heartiness and flavor. I've had blood puddings as bland as can be. But not here. It's seasoned and griddled well. Same can be said for the fried haggis. I frankly love haggis in its most traditional form as plated on Burns' Night, or fried with a nice crunch on a breakfast plate. Everything else from the sausages to mushrooms, to the egg with custardy yolk, it was delicious all around. After my wife and I had a plate each, we walked the city for about 6 miles just to burn off 25% of those calories. It was all worth it. We had a very good breakfast here whilst in town. My husband ordered the porridge and the largest bowl of oatmeal that we've ever seen arrived, piping hot and loaded with cream, bananas, strawberries, raisins and sunflower seeds. This was enough for 2 people, and, while he made a valiant attempt, he didn't finish it. I ordered 2 poached eggs with toast. The eggs were poached perfectly. Coffee was so-so, and I'd skip it next time and get it down the street where it's better. This is a little mom and pop place, and service was friendly and efficient. read more

The food tasted great but I found it to be very expensive for what I got. I ordered the poached egg, where I was supposed to get one, but ended up getting two because the first egg broke as it was being cooked, so I got two eggs. This place was in between the Airbnb and the parking lot so we stopped by for food. It's a tiny local café so there were no open tables for us. We were allowed to order take out, which was prepared rather quickly. The food and most of the staff were great. The one exception was the waiter who took our order, he was rude when we asked if there was an open table, was rude about letting us order take out, and was rude once our food came out. read more

Came here on 24 June for brunch and had an English Brexit - I mean - Scottish breakfast with all 10 items (one can choose between 3, 6, and FULL). Despite the unsettling Scotch reception of the political happenings that morning, the mood was very uppity in this kitschy but kool diner decorated in a Hollywood theme with a film reel collage of famous actors and actresses. This was one of the best Scottish breakfasts we had after a week of them in a whole range of eateries and B&Bs (although we got lots of oogly eyes when we made our own eggs, sausage and black pudding in a hostel one grand morning). The egg, black pudding, haggis, and 1 of the sausages were very good, and the tomatoes, mushrooms, 2 other types of sausages, beans, and potato scone were above average. Service was a tad slow, but overall friendly, helpful, and relaxed. I forget what time we arrived, but they were switching to a lunch menu while we dined, so be sure to arrive at the right time for your chosen meal! read more

I was looking for some places to eat in the historical that had some sort of historical significance, or least historical significance to me, and The Rendezvous Café popped up as a piece of Beatles' history. They apparently played here back in 1960 as a part of their first ever tour, though of course the café looked different then and had different owners. (It was a dance hall.) Situated just a 15-20 minute walk from our Airbnb, this little café wasn't terribly busy when we stepped in, and it's actually very small so I imagine they get packed very quickly. The menu had both a la carte and more substantial fare. Very affordable pricing, too, with some breakfast items starting at just a few pounds. I got a cheese and ham toastie, which wasn't terribly filling but was fine as a small breakfast snack. I found the toastie to be fine but not spectacular. Considering the amount of amazing food I experienced in Scotland, this place was probably one of the least memorable, but perhaps that's because I didn't try their English breakfast, which appears to be their signature dish. The décor was cute and kind of Old School Hollywood, with a fantastic robin's egg blue color scheme and film motif. As a breakfast destination, this place is more suited to those seeking a snack or light meal, and not necessarily one who is trying to dry out copious amounts of alcohol in their system. I'd say more of a 3.5 star experience. read more

Rude, horrible service. Waited outside because of the "wait to be seated" sign. No one attends to us for a good 10 minutes. We see empty tables, proceed to walk in and we get stopped by a lady who tells us to wait outside. Couple of minutes later, a guy comes and asks if we have a reservation and for how many. We say two, he tells us to leave our bags by the door and points us to a table. We leave our bags, and then he suddenly changes his mind and says the table is "too big for just two" (it was a tiny booth but whatever), and tells us to wait until a table of two leaves. We see PLENTY of other couples seated in booths so what the hell? We take our bags and leave. Disgusting service. read more
