Such a great place! We have returned a year later because it is THAT good! I ordered shrimp tacos.... served with a delicious slaw and a really tasty sour cream dressing that's a tad bit spicy. Outstanding place, very happy with our visit. We had friends in from out of town and met here for drinks and appetizers. We had a sampling of everything and you could taste the difference in everything they make, it's all freshly made. This included the drink mixers, they used all fresh juices and make everything in house. The standouts for me were the pulled pork quesadilla recommended by our bartender (so so good) and the chips with all of the sauces for everyone to sample. What a find! We picked this place because of the reviews and we were not disappointed! We got the two of sofrito bowls, one with chicken, one with pork. We stopped by The Tiny Turtle after a fun day at the beach. They only had patio seating available but there were plenty of tables. The menu is plastered onto a board that gets dragged to each table before ordering. We started with the Tiny Turtle Chip basket. The basket came with ca tiny salsa, small queso and a tiny amount of guacamole. All three were very tasty. My daughter and I decided to have Mahi Mahi tacos. They were good but both orders were served with dry fish. The taste was there but it needed extra sauce. Our server was exceptional and our food came out in a timely manner. read more

We were visiting from out of state and found that this place was near we were at. We were all hungry and I was a little hesitant about this place but the reviews were very good. This place exceeded my expectations!! We ordered the beef and cheese, and the chicken and cheese empanadas. I have eaten a lot of empanadas in my life, but the shell on these were amazing! By far the greatest i've ever had! The filling was pretty good too. My mom got the Island pork bowl and that was awesome too. Probably one of the best things we got. Every now and then I come across a place that deserves 'The Five', as I like to say, and this place is definitely 'The Five'... Unassuming from the outside and a blend of divey and touristy-tacky on the inside, you find yourself at a true mom-and-pop location when you enter this establishment. Brightly decorated and airy, it is definitely inviting with pictures on the walls, beer selection on high for all to see and the bathroom is uniquely located *outside* the place - interesting to say the least. There's both seating inside and out, and even on a hot day, the outdoor seating is all under roof and in the precious shade. Selection is unique - sofritos, homemade burritos, quinoa, salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, you name it - and all of it made to order. A few of us ordered their wraps, others ordered their sliders, and I picked up a small sofrito. Portions are not huge, but still very filling, and the food comes out quick and hot. I liked that they had a larger than normal craft beer selection - something you don't come across everyday - and most of it was local (a big plus in my book.) Service was spot on today, I wish I could remember our waitresses name, but she did a great job handling our questions, repeated calls to the table, and she did it all happily (the art of friendly services is not quite dead yet.) Prices are reasonable, but when you come with a big crowd and you grab an appetizer or two, expect to put down some coin. Otherwise, a person on their own or even a couple can get out of here relatively cheap on super good food. read more

This place has amazing food - I would be here all the time if I lived here or visited more often. I've never had food like this before - it's a unique combo of Caribbean and Puerto Rican food and it's delicious. I ate here for lunch and loved it so much I almost came back again for dinner the same day (and then wished I had when I had a terrible meal that was 2.5x more expensive than this) I got the Sofrito bowl which had rice, black beans, guacamole, sour cream, coleslaw, plantains and their braised chicken. Each bite was flavorful, delicious, not salty and just so good. My son (18 months) loved the rice, chicken and plantains - it was a joy seeing him eat so well. For $11.99 for a large bowl, it was certainly worth the price. The second time I went back here for lunch, I got the Tripleta sandwich which has chicken, pork, ham, cheese lettuce, tomato, and sauce. I liked it but it was a tad bit dry, it needed more sauce in it. I almost wished I had just repeated the sofrito bowl instead or gotten the sofrito burrito or something else that had sofrito in it because that seems to be their speciality. I got a kids meal for my son which was some rice & beans, chicken, and tortilla for around $5. It was a decent portion and he liked it; I much prefer to frequent places that have good choices for kids meal than just mac & cheese, chicken tenders or fries (he's allergic to dairy and egg so he can't have any of this "traditional" kids meal foods). Seating inside can be a bit tight, as they only have a few booths and tables, but I think there is seating on the back patio as well. I did appreciate that they had high chairs and toys/books for kids to keep entertained while we waited for the food. The service and the food were both pretty quick, so it's a pretty fast meal. Overall, I'm definitely going to be coming back here again once, if not twice, if we make other trips down to Cocoa Beach. They have a really large menu, but the Sofrito dishes are their signature ones, so make sure you get those! read more

My husband and I visited The Tiny Turtle as part of our "just us" time during a family trip to Cocoa Beach. The Tiny Turtle was our second choice once we realized we'd missed the amazing Vargas Cafe, but The Tiny Turtle did not disappoint. Our entrees were good, but *Oh My Gosh I still think about the tres leches cake!!* I am not kidding when I say that cake was THE highlight of our family vacation. Granted, I was 6 months pregnant (very pregnant, with twins), and the Florida summer heat was kicking my butt, so maybe the cake didn't have much of a competition, but the fact that I'm still thinking about it? Damn, that's some good cake. The cake was made by Bori Mami who operates her own bakery, but by all means, why not visit The Tiny Turtle to get your own slice of heaven? I was very impressed with The Tiny Turtle's focus on taking care of the planet, especially Florida's beaches. Seeing any business make a difference like this, even if it means doing things the hard way, is an inspiration, and it's another big reason why I want people to visit and dine at The Tiny Turtle. While you're there, I can speak for the sofrito bowl and the pinchos. I was a little under the weather during my visit, so I don't remember those dishes very much, but like I said... So we have been next door to the Fat Donkey several times, but had just never gone to Tiny Turtle, Big mistake, HUGE! This is the best food, so good! I got the Sofrito bowl salad, super healthy, super yummy. We also had the pulled pork Sofrito bowl with rice & beans equally delicious. Soft taco with Carribean Chicken, excellent, Chicken Pinchos very good skewers of chicken cooked to perfection & not dry. Our servers were pleasant, efficient and fast. So delicious! My fiancé and I spent many Thursday nights getting dinner here when we lived in cocoa beach. He always ordered the sofrito burrito and I would order the sofrito bowl (small portion was always perfect)! They also have delicious sliders (just order them)!! We loved sitting outside in the fresh air and although a couple nights they seemed to be short staffed, we were not in a rush and appreciated their service. I so very badly wanted to be able to give this place more stars, but I was a little bummed by my meal. I ordered the vegetarian quinoa bowl that lists zucchini and kale among its ingredients. I had literally two slices of zucchini and maybe three minuscule shreds of kale that looked practically accidental in their size (photo uploaded). The quinoa and black bean components were well represented, but I really was craving the green veggies. That being said, what WAS in my dish was tasty, I just wish the ingredients were all there. The coleslaw and plantain sides were very yummy, too. The kiddos got a hot dog and a grilled cheese. The hot dog got devoured. The grilled cheese was fabulous (I tasted it too) and is served on a kind of sweet bread. There was a pretty well-rounded kids menu in general, which you don't see often. I would like to see more vegetarian offerings on their menu, but I can definitely see myself returning here again, hopefully getting more green veggies this time. read more
